HammondCare Sydney was my first entry level job in this field in which, I learnt a lot of skills and knowledge that enabled me to work more efficiently and provide the best possible care I could provide to my clients. Pay rate was average and for the amount of tasks required day to day, it should be a little more. There were also issues with scheduling. Quite a lot of last minute sick calls  and I was asked to pick up a lot of extra work, which was fine but not enough notification time. Travelling to each visit can be a minimum of 30min and scheduling only gives exact times to get from A to B, not considering peak hour traffic that could push care workers time back. My manager at the time was fantastic and I could always rely on her to assist with any issues that I had. Met some fantastic care workers during my time there and overall Hammondcare was a delight to work for. I was also offered a position in the office though I declined for personal reasons.

If I could give 0 stars I would. 

The clients are mostly great but the job it’s self and the management are the worst.
They treated care workers as the bottom line and that they were nothing but the dirt on their shoes most of the time.
Never paid correctly, never paid KMs correctly and they never discussed it with you they just cut it down to what they thought was appropriate and then paid you and when raised you were constantly got told different things and there was long gaps between clients and we were controlled on what we can and can’t do. They discribed is as cleaners not caters 
If you not over time you’d be told off. 

Management are disgusting plays favourites and are uncaring or sympathy I  to any cicrcumstances that may affect your life. They do not have insurance for workers if they are hurt directly from them. 

Stay stay far away
Not only this if your family member is hurt or not well we aren’t allowed to do anything and they don’t report it.

I was so excited to be given the opportunity to work in aged care without any formal training as training would be provided - never happened in the 2 years I worked for them.  I loved the job loved the clients. Soon I realised that Hammond Care was all about their bottom line. They short change their employees on kms travelled and pass the buck when you question your pay, to date I’m owed $600 in unpayed kms with no one to give me a straight answer, now in the hands of fair work. They have an objective when they hire staff - hire desperate, meek and submissive  caring women eager to be relevant and not make a fuss, when you question them or do wrong it’s the big stick approach, hopefully the royal commission will sort this bunch of crooks out.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The great staff was one of the best parts of working at Hammond Care, so many laughs and so supportive.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not always having workloads recognised and not being paid travel or compensation for wear & tear to your vehicle. No fleet cars allocated to Clinical Care Managers. In rural areas, it's a lot of driving and distance between clients and workplace.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Fantastic work culture. Open plan workplaces don't really work well.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Complete assessments, care plans, Home visits and wound care.

A typical day at work with Hammond care as a residential carer involves assisting residents with activities of daily living including dishing out the food and cleaning up the dishes.
I believe I learnt team work because we need one another to successfully carry out our tasks successfully 
Management is good , but the rostering manager is partial,she gives shifts to other employees she like.
Hardest part of the job is dealing with residents behaviours especially in the dementia cottages which can be draining 
The most enjoyable part to me is the salary packaging program where I get support with some miscellaneous expenses.

Shifts at hammond are very challenging but at the same time easy going! Ive learnt alot about life and challenging behaviours in this current role! It has given me a whole new perspective on life. Being a female nurse suprisingly the co-workers are amazing to work with!! They support you, encourage you and its always about a team effort there everyone gets acknowleged! The hardest part of the job would be pallaitive care! At the end of the day, its the residents happiness and being able to interact and knowing that you have changed a persons life is a remarkable beyond gracious feeling!

- providing physical care to residents with dementia, a high quality level of care.
- primarily I learned to be patient and to communicate therapeutically with the residents. Able to deal with them appropriately for their full care.
- we just had a new manager and so far, some of the changes she made in the facility is reasonable for the residents as well as to the staff.
- my co-workers are mostly professionals and works harmoniously with each other for the benefit of the residents.
- the hardest part of the job is being abused verbally which is considered acceptable with the residents' condition.
- I love and enjoy taking good care of the elderies

Worked for this company for over 12 months. And it got significantly worse over time. Between the poor management. Useless staff and a manager that doesn’t care. Between the RNs who don’t know how to do their jobs. The unfair pay considering you do 4 different positions there and the fact they cap double shifts at 10 hours even though you work 16 is just pure unfair. I worked over the last public holidays. Was owed 21 hours public holiday rates and was paid only 10. Was due for 2 or 3 pay rises and never got them. Honestly just stay away. There’s no training what So ever when you start and are quick to throw you under the bus when you make a mistake. 

Im sure theres a time we all wanted to succeed with the maximum potential to be unseen, unheard and unappreciated. HammondCare is the complete opposite of that. They are supportive, they understand and they have your back when push comes to shove. To receive maximum achievement, you have to give maximum effort. 
HammondCare is the only Aged Care workplace that will answer any questions you have over and over and over again until you cant possibly forget it.

My day at work consists of taking care of the elderly and treating them with dignity and respect,dealing with the residents families.
How death affects so many people and how the elderly rely so much upon the nurses and learning about thier past.
Management always called meetings to ask how staff were doing and coping.
Hardest part of that job was losing residents and seeing families get upset.
Most enjoyable part was helping the elderly die with dignity and respect and that your face was the last thing that they would see if they had no family.
