Halfords made sure I felt part of there team as soon as I started my work experience. I was an Assistant Sales Advisor which I found to be a good field which is suited well to my work criteria.In my career of becoming a Fashion Designer requires my excellent customer service skills as I love networking meeting new faces putting a smile on customers faces, knowing I did the job too my best ability. Picking up very fast on how to keep the shop Floor Clean ,Stock Replenishing Fixing Bikes an Assembling , Stock Counting an Welcoming Customers With a Smile and a Greeting. I worked with two other work experience staff an experienced colleagues working as a team which brought us together too work fast completing tasks with 100% , lifting heavy boxes, removing stock from packaging  and labelling. Most thing I found hard about working at Halfords was washing greasy oil of my hands I found everything else fairly easy because I'm very clued up from my surroundings in my everyday life that provides me with the skills required for the title. In all I enjoyed the job as it was great experience and boosted my confidence and perfected my skills for working life.

Fun to work in Branch, keeps you fit and a great job for 16-17 year old to gain experience and make them more confident. Seen it bring numerous people out of their shell.

The problem is once you start climbing the ranks, you start getting into the politics very quickly and consistently the people who cheat the system get ahead. No point in bringing it up the attention of anyone higher as they are not oblivious to it, simply want there figures to read positively.

The metrics in which they gauge the stores are ridiculous and counter productive (I have seen many people refuse sale or pretend they didn't have stock because they weren't getting the accessory sale). 

Fantastic for a part time role, soul destroying duty manager upwards.

Halfords PLC can be a fun and productive place to work. In the specialist retail sector, where changes are big and quick, you have to be able to adapt effectively. As an audio fitter and sales assistant, my role keeps me busy with working on the in car entertainment side of the business, both selling and fitting. The successful completion of audio modifications on customer's vehicles can be very gratifying personally. There can be some stressful times on days where stores are short staffed.

Not the sunday times top25 buisness to work for!, Recent change in tactics means there no longer is room for progression, managers reap quarterly bonuses off the backs of employee's hard work, 0393 ipswich europark store manager matthew is a prime example of these vultures.

Extremly high stress working environment with little to no support from management. Progression is gated by management, if you don't fit the company image then you'll never progress. 
Discriminatory of mental health. I saw many people dismissed and refused employment due to mental health and I was Victimised myself because of my own mental health issues and eventually dismissed because of it. 
Halfords is one of the worst companies I have worked for. Definitely would not recommend.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Working hours ,8 am to 6 pm instead of 8  am to 5 pm and  working Saturday up to 5 pm instead of 1 or 2 pm

Very Good ,very welcoming ,everyday brings in new experience 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy and funny and serious some days

Very high turnover of colleagues which indicates how unappreciated the staff feel. Stores are run at skeleton staff levels except between 12 and 4 to keep the hours spend low and make the bosses look impressive but this increases stress. 

no continuity of rgm most only last 6 monyths 
blatant missselling required to hit targets
rediculose paperwork
never paid overtime despite not having any cover so 60 hrs for 44hrs pay is usuall at Halfords

can be stressful and manic but the manager is keen to train and build his colleagues skills

Worked for Halfords whilst I studied at university. I didn't feel forced to do overtime when my studies got intense. Management was really decent and my colleagues made shifts fun. Miss this job tbh!
