A typical day at work includes greeting people in and out of the shop when required, serving customers and helping customers with enquirers or feedback/complaints. 
I have learned a lot through working with Hill Street Grocer, more communication and customer service skills, how to work within a team environment, I've learned numerous things regarding Retail such as Facing forward all the products, how to follow a strict and important checklist,  health and safety hazards ect. 
The hardest part of the job would have to be keeping everyone happy, like work mates, cusomers, management ect. But at the same time it is very rewarding when you please a customer and have a enjoyable work day.

Great staff who work there and a nice, boutique store that is Tasmanian owned. The staff members who they hire are some of the hardest workers you’ll ever meet.

However, the pay is minimum wage, the management from my experience were rude and would yell at workers for small mistakes in order to stop mistakes through intimidation. There is very little encouragement or support for people that work there, especially those wanting to progress. But above all the owners and store managers prioritise the store’s conditions and money above worker health and safety, with the very low wages to boot.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Best staffing every single day and literally cooperative with everyone. 
kindness and compassion all staff members and perfect store manager who has great leadership. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There is a shortage of people who is willing to hard work and there are often unexpected busy hours.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
multiple cultural groups are involved every department and they are all respectful others

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
everyday and every second weekend

Thrown in day one without any proper training, on talking to other staff and on own observations, management can be abusive and micromanaging. Was told from first day how abusive some managers could be, and that as the new guy I should expect to be next. Made clear that I could work a limited schedule due to studies, and was then rostered on for a five day work week. Not worth the hassle for such terrible pay, would rather deal with centrelink than work here.

Other employees were friendly, but overall an attitude of defeatism told me all I needed to know about the workplace culture.

Working in the grocery department was amazing, everyone got along and worked together nicely, but the managers made life tough always breathing over our shoulders and giving us impossible tasks with the few people we had on shift at any given time. They expect you to work in every other department except the one you’ve been rostered onto. They short staff counter and expect grocery to fill in those spaces when grocery has a large amount of pallets to work through plus backstock. Overall a great place to work they just need to improve management.

Such a reliable fun workplace, my managers were extremely reliable rostering shifts months in advance and working around almost all casualties. The only issue I would argue is that when I would ask for more shifts as I was available at all times I would get maybe 2-3 even 1 shift a week sometimes while others got 4-5 per week. Lovely crew and people though and a great place for people to join the workforce.

Overall a good company. But I feel some of the owners (one in particular) is quite overbearing and intimidating when he comes in store. Will pick on certain people - will push until you crack.

Instore management are amazing though, will support you all the way.

The fellow staff members were lovely, and enjoyable to work with. The management however was not at all nice. I was treated well below them. I was made to feel like a burden when attempting to return from parental leave. Quite often they would not allow me to have breaks, which meant working 7 hours straight

Best employer I’ve ever had. Only left due to moving interstate. Fantastic family owned and operated business. Treated everyone as part of the family and created a great place to work. 

It a true family valued company from the owners to the CEO to the team in store.
Workplace culture is a true family feel where you REALLY matter, i cannot stress more how much i loved working for this company.
