Until I worked for Hertz, I had no idea that a job could be so boring yet so stressful at the same time..

Constant nagging from everyone, unhappy customers, always understaffed and therefore too much work for one person.  Constantly working alone between 2 or 3 separate locations up to 20km apart, trying to beat the clock to make it to each booking.  Call centre is constantly chasing you with grumpy customers on the line because you were 2 minutes late (or not even late) to meet them because you can't be in 2 places at once and no one understands that the airport desks are not manned all day.  Absolute minimum retail wage to keep you hungry for commissions.  Overly competitive culture with unrealistic targets.  Rarely get to take your full 30min lunch break, and you can forget about your 10min rest breaks altogether.

If you're in need of early hours they have plenty of work from 5am at the airport locations. It can be hard to manage multiple departments expecting cars from you while also working in an under-appreciated yet vital customer service role, but you learn so much about yourself and will become a lot more confident on the radios and communicating your needs during busy hours for customers and in quiet hours regarding your work environment. 

The worst part is coworkers who are competitive, spiteful and don't have a good attitude towards team work even though that is the whole job. You can work solo for hours but not without a team coordinating the wash and the cars so you have to get along. When working with more relaxed coworkers the job is fine. The management is not great. They are unprofessional and unorganised. It's chaotic some days, but great if you need stimulation when you work because slow jobs can be awful too. 

I quite enjoyed the start of my employment at The Adelaide Airport Location but soon could see the bumps in the team. 
The management team suck, there's no other way to sugar coat it.
They only care about themselves and don't think of their employees. 
I was a casual and always had my shifts cancelled and given to other people who were favoured by one of the supervisors.
Pay isn't too bad especially for a job that doesn't require any formal qualifications, but they put a lot of stress and tasks on you considering the amount you do get paid
Hardest part of the job was the fact that the managers did not support or help you 
I did love the people I worked with and I would likely work for hertz again at another location but just not this one.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The people: My colleagues and customers made this job a delight. The training was second to none, the hours great and the pay was on time every time. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Delayed flights often threw things into chaos or if we were short staffed on a very busy day.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very supportive and compassionate. Employees are treated like people and not commodities.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy times matched with downtime between flights. Providing the best vehicle bailable for our customers.

Ensuring all your team have reported for work, making sure staff are available to take calls,  take escated calls, checking company and external emails,  keeping stats figures for the staff, shift changes, annual leave requirements, personal staff issues.

You need to keep upto date with the relevant changes on a daily basis.

Part of a management team ensuring an overal smooth running of the reservations room on a daily basis.

Have a great team of staff.

The constant system changes, and technology that changes all the time.  Hard to keep up.

Giving good customer service to our customers, and looking after my team.

Initially when I started 7 years ago I really enjoyed this workplace as it had structured teams with constant communication.
Post covid we are now extreamly short on managers, and the remaining ones have no clue what they are doing. They are impersonable and grouchy constantly. 
We take calls constantly throughout the day and are often yelled at by customers but not allowed to react in any way. Nor debrief after calls. 
The pay we get for what we do is very low with no extra benefits. 
The work from home situation is also very difficult to navigate. They have ridiculous unattainable requirements for this. 

check days work ,allocate tasks for staff, check that all vehicles were 
ready for work, organise materials needed for tasks,check with office staff when they arrive as to what they need from me. in general I was in charge of a small team that was a small business.
I learned that no matter what was thrown at me I was able to handle them with my team.
My co-workers were a great team 
The hardest part of my job was making sure that the different personalities in my team were used to their best

Ensure staff are logged into the phone at their correct rostered time, A daily check of emails for any changes or new procedures to the Hertz product.  Taalking to staff on a daily basis, keeping records of their lateness or sick leave..  I get on with all staff both reservations and management,   Management is always striving to get more revenue.  I do my part to ensure that res agents give good customer service, and correct information.  I enjoy looking after staff in a team environment,  there are no individuals, it is a team effort.

A typical day at work--log on to computer--put head set on and start taking reservations. You learn on the job-various situations happen daily that I have to deal with good and bad.
Management is very supportive-we get "prizes" when we achieve various targets etc.
The hardest part of the job is when doing shift work--especially the late finishes .
The most enjoyable part is when you get praise from a customer for going above and beyond the norm to help them out.

Hertz rental cars melbourne airport is by far the most unprofessional workplace my self and previous co workers have ever encountered. It is commission based and managers decide to not pay your commission just because they feel like, managers have favourites, don't offer enough selling support, everything is always unorganised, they always over book the cars which causes customers to yell at you and the amount of bullying that goes on there is beyond me!! The only good thing is the fact that its at the airport. Do not recommend!!!!
