Work days are for the most part are enjoyable as you work with and interact with the public. You treat them with respect and kindness and you get the same in return. I've learned this over the years when you sometimes just don't want to deal with the public. Driving long stretches of the highway day in and day out can have take its toll on you, but the key is plenty of rest and a healthy lifestyle. The worst part of the job is when you breakdown (occasionally) on the road in the middle of nowhere and have to wait hours for relief sometimes in austere weather conditions and passengers are upset. My co-workers are the greatest and its is a pleasure to have such friends to work with. We literally are all in the same boat together and treat each other very well. Managements ideology and respect has faltered over the last couple of years probaly related to a slow recovery of the economy and its ridership. Fuel cost have skyrocketed, ridership is slowing and is effecting labor relations between labor and management. Hopefully better days are a coming!

AVERAGE day ,starts bout 4.30 am two runs to site finish about 6.30 go for breakfast.then back at 8 for a tool box meeting and 2 .3 hours of yard duty's cleaning buses etc or you do a shuttle service in the day , then back about 3 or four two runs from site back to camp,its poss that you don,t do yard duties could be airport.runs  or dinner runs,most drivers are great,but there are a thew who don,t give a dam about the safety of the others drivers..management on site are out of they depth,and always blaming the client for their mishaps and their plenty of them on a daily basis..so this can reflect on the work force..Brisbane head office   management have no idea how to treat the drivers at the Wheatstone site, you get used to the 4/1 roster its, great food and camp life style.and the  beers are cheep to.,..all other company's, pay overtimes rates  but not greyhound here or on public holidays, good sporting facility,,fun to have

What is the best part of working at the company?
Going home after they make you work 13 hour days don’t pay overtime and work you six days a week. They will suck the life out of you and take every family time minute possible

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Absolutely everything 40 to 50 passengers on and off at every major stop. That’s 80 to 100 bags on and off at every major stop

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic staff turnover is enormous average length of employment time is 1 to 2 weeks before people resign and move on. Accommodation is slightly above third world living standards

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Full on stressful running late abusive customers zero support from operations and management won’t listen

Great team work with the staff and other workers.

Living at the camp was a fun place as they have good gyms, and pools to relax in after work. Shops and good food on offer for the time your away at the camps.

A typical day was to check the bus over for any possible breakdowns. then ensure all passengers were belted in their seatbelts and no loose luggage or items rolling around the bus.

Then drive a 30 minute drive to the destination, and then back to the camp. Then do the same thing in the afternoon go to the site, pick up the passengers and drive them back to camp.

Shower then go to the mess hall for dinner and retire for the evening.

Most enjoyable was meeting people with different trades and qualifications and learning about the type of work they do.

Like the greater majority of GHA employees at wheatstone (Onslow) without doubt the worst job I've had.
Good camp, majority good people, but the management onsite are way out of their depth & OK to follow the barbarian regime set by GHA Brisbane. Long days back & forth your on the go clocking on & off 16 hrs a day yet they wont pay more than 8 hrs. So many staff lied to about this before going to site. The site is a 10  hr site simple as that so you work out the rest. Discrimination is rife there & the chosen ones get away with anything while others are fired for the slightest issue. Think very carefully this is a hot remote site you will be giving up a lot to be paid half what other contractors are paying their staff.

A typical day at work was out of bed at 3.30am, long 12 hour days and usually home by 6pm. With this particular job I learnt that I had to work hard for my money, first aid, driving safely on a construction sight, working with a team of 10 other work mates proved sometimes difficult because of different personalities, so, learnt ways of dealing with that. Management usually worked with the staff well. Most of my co-workers were great. The hardest part of the job was the hours but the most enjoyable part was talking to the wonderful mining staff at Hay Point Coal Terminal while driving them to different sections of their work areas throughout the day.

* Safely transport employees working at liquid natural gas construction site to and from airport, accommodations, worksite, and town centre; drive minibuses such as Mercedes i6, Scania, Volvo, Higer, King Long, Iveco with 57-person capacity and 4WD vehicles.
* Conduct daily pre-start checks, refuelling, and routine maintenance checks of all vehicles, sustaining vehicle operability and high safety standards.
* Prepare and complete documentation for daily runs, pre-start checklists, deliveries, and monthly performance reviews.
All and all very good experience company was very good to work for....

Nearly 11 years with Greyhound, and have been to Mackay Qld for work for them on their buses, drove the Dog Doctor at all times off the night when there were break downs.
Worked in Perth W.A for many years also for Greyhound, as their Lead Diesel Mechanic and management.
There were extremely harsh conditions at this place, cyclones, red dust storms, extreme heat, but the work, went on, and never stopped.
There were great times as the crew were a bunch of amazing men and women.

Manager bullies staff.  Staff are scared of him. 
Staff overworked and stressed.
Staff (from all fields ranging from Admin, Workshops, Schedulers and Bus Drivers) resigning most days due to bullying tactics.
No work / life balance.
Told daily my Manager - 'Just make it happen' - which means stay at work until the work is done even if it's late at night.
Reasonable unpaid overtime means do the workload or your sacked.
