Not too stressful, only at busy times usually Friday or Saturday evenings.

 Pay isn’t the best, especially because you don’t get paid during breaks or if you get asked to leave early due to the restaurant being too quiet you don’t get paid your full hours, which should be changed. With my place in particular, they don’t give you the hours you asked for (full time) because they hired too many people and now can’t give enough hours to multiple people who want more, yet team leaders can take our shifts and work as much as they’d like. (One person told me how she’d done 50 hours but a few people I work with asked for full time and aren’t getting given any more than 25 hours if that).

Shifts can get changed or removed/put on last minute so sometimes it’s hard to make plans around work. 

Most people I work with are very nice, which makes the job a lot better and makes you want to come into work which is nice. Having a good team around you is important.

Issues not taken seriously. Complaints not dealt with. Favouritism and bias. Management are regularly late and do not do their job. Constant understaffing and being expected to regularly do the work of multiple people.

Lots of gossip and backstabbing

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressfull and constantly overworked.

Was put on position of head chef after a month but given no pay rise to match the extra workload, did all ordering and paperwork and ran the kitchen for not even £9 an hour. Did 6 days a week all the time and management was reluctant to ever give me holiday when I asked.
Was a busy kitchen environment which is fine by me but all boil in the bag and microwave cooking, terrible if you want to actually be a chef but good to get used to a busy service.

Friendly and welcoming. Always someone to talk to 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Washing dishes and chef equipment and assisting chefs when needed

I enjoyed working there, but security were awful and there were a lot of situations that were unsafe- management said they would help but in reality nothing happened. in the end i left due to stress and anxiety 

I wasn’t trained, and had to work everything out for myself. staff would get angry at me for asking for help. managers are incompetent. The staff are rude and won’t speak to people they don’t recognise. The hours are ridiculously long and they refuse holiday unless booked months in advance. They expect you to work 6 out of 7 days a week.

Greene king are failing like a lot of employers to get new staff however the ones they do have are being blamed for the miss management and lack of motivation unfortunately after being told that they are now going to recruit new managers that are going to be the elite that also has yet to come to fruition.

good company to work for really look after their staff run and an enjoyable work environment, good pay structure, discount while on shift, management helps you progress, and good career pathway

Honestly working there was so much fun the staff are all nice, they have a really nice work ethic and they give great on staff training, definitely recommend working here if you have the chance too

I worked for Greene King for just over 5 years, I really did enjoy my time. You get the opportunity to meet loads of new people, make new friends, however it is hard work and you have to be prepared to put in the hard work.
