General Pants, unfortunately, stands out as one of the most regrettable professional endeavors I have embarked upon. In the realm of businesses, where an effective structure is imperative, this establishment seems to be an exception. Regrettably, the lack of cohesion within the organisation has fostered an environment characterised by disarray and gossip, devoid of unity. 

The indifference displayed by the management at the head office is disheartening, leaving one with a sense of insignificance. Instances of being subjected to verbal abuse and profanity by a fellow employee were met with apathy, as the company failed to acknowledge or address these grave transgressions. Consequently, the toll on my mental well-being was profound, as I found myself drained and, for a moment, lost.

Regrettably, I must advise those seeking professional fulfillment to channel their energy elsewhere, where their worth and contributions will be genuinely appreciated. 

My experience at General Pants has been profoundly disheartening, leaving me with a lasting impression of an organisation that falls tragically short in its obligations towards its employees. I implore you to invest your energy in an establishment that values and appreciates your talents, for General Pants is an unfortunate choice for those seeking a fulfilling and supportive work environment.

I would arrive at the store half an hour before opening. First thing the team would do is check the store that it is clean and acceptable for opening. We would then have a Team Meeting about our stores Target and KPIs. Management would give every body a section of the store that we would have to maintain its appearance and help any customer. Once the store was open out primary goal was customer service. I would approach a customer offer my help, tell them about the sale we had on that day and then give them space to look around. When they did want my assistance i would ask them what they were looking for and would give them a couple of option and try to up sell something else that matches. In between customer i would clean and place any stock that needed to be taken out to the shop floor. Once the opening hours were finished, Management would count the tills while the others cleaned the store so it was spotless for the next day. 
Management were great, we were well trained. They were very friendly and kind. They made the workplace fun which then showed on the stores performance. The hardest part of the job was to keep the store clean, it was small so it got cluttered quickly. The best part of the job was the fun we had, every one wanted to be there so there was a lot of enthusiasm and energy which made it very enjoyable.

Oh lord, where to start. Loved working here at the start - other team members were great and learning the job was fun. 

However, I quickly realised how toxic the environment is. Such a high turnover for casuals and management, half the time we didn’t even have a manager and were expected to run the store ourselves.

Management doesn’t care how sick you are, they will still expect/force you to come in + send you a whole para about “how disappointed they are” and “how unacceptable it is”. Also, very clear favouritism which unfortunately is reflected with rosters. It causes such a toxic environment with staff turning on each other. 

I’d recommend everyone to stay far away as possible from this company. If you want to work here, literally just do your job - clock in and out. Don’t do more than you are paid to do and try not to let the workplace drama/stress follow you home. 

Very unprofessional business don’t be fooled by the look of this company or it’s brands and “friendly” fake employees. They won’t last nor will there cheap quality ill fitting clothing. 

Don’t work here I’m saying this for your own quality of life and mental well being, which they absolutely DO NOT care for!!!! 

Oh and the pay is non negotiable & below minimum wage for a full time position. Absolutely not worth your time and energy, there are way better opportunities and companies out there to work for. 

The role advertised was very misleading and when it comes to the interview they lie and fool you into believing what the role actually entails, which is far from what your expectations are off of the interview stage to the actually role.

I could keep going but my time and energy is obviously not worth it!!

Working at General Pants Co. coming from food and customer service into retail wasnt as different as i expected. 
The first 5 shifts i had were very enjoyable, i loved socialising, retrieving stock and helping customers but after that i realised that most of my coworkers were very rude and i felt very judged, especially being the youngest employee.
I came from a great company with Dockside Group to a company where you couldnt be yourself unless you were invited into the 'group' of the store. 
I learnt alot about keeping a poker face when feeling left out or negative comments towards or about me and focused on my job and the customers experience. 
A typical day at work would be to sign in, go to a designated area for an hour or two then change areas with other coworkers.

Typical day at work consists of serving customers in retail such as customer service, styling, assistance, cash and phone handling.
Retail Assistance taught me to be organised, articulate, alert and work well under extreme pressure. 
The workplace culture was very busy but much positivity. 
The most enjoyable part of the job was the communication and relationship shared between retail assistants and customers who buy and browse from the store. 
The hardest part can occur when dealing with difficult customers, however there are many ways to overcome this and much to do with patience, understanding and fairness.

I worked as a Christmas casual at General Pants in Chatswood last year and the manager made my experience unbearable. He was rude, would ignore me if I tried to be friendly and make casual conversation with him, and acted entitled (as if he could act rude to me). He picked on me incessantly when I was doing my job exactly as I was instructed to do, and I am to presume it was because he was in a bad mood because that's what I sensed. He also forgot to pay my salary and then when he left the job, did not organise to address this issue so I had to reach out to HR. All in all, I did not have a good experience working at GP and now every-time I see their store I grimace .

I'm basically working with my family. Each and everyday at work is something special as I get to spend it with people that I see as more than just colleagues. It is seriously great to come to work and spend time with people that are a similar age to you and that share similar ambitions with you. It is also great having a network comprised of younger people because then it doesn't feel like a hierarchy with the casuals, part times and full times. Everyone is on the same level and we learn from each other. General pants is the best place to work, man, if I had a full time job, I'd work weekends for free!

Very unorganised as a company, even in regards to head office (key systems down for months), poor communication, no ability to follow up on any issues.

Extremely pushy with customers, must speak with everyone for several minutes, even if they’re not seeking assistance and being persistent in getting responses, eg. question weekend plans, give fake compliments to try continue conversations.

All about sales and not interested in customer service.

Company motto is to be genuine, but teach you to be as fake as possible.

Very unrealistic targets set for each employee, this work place focuses on profit rather than the customer. With training, I learnt how to approach customers in a friendly manner, but the true underlying reason for this was to make profit and up sell everything which I don't think is very important, working in a clothes store should be about fashion, not trying to squeeze every dollar from a customer to complete profit target!!!!
