My Functions on daily basis were consisting of a routine of painted vehicle body checks looking for application issues ie: paint runs, bare areas (lack of paint), orange peel (texture), equipment failures effecting quality of the product. Automated robot enclosure inspections/observations looking for application abnormalities or failures to the process. 
 Monitoring operating data on all aspects of the cleanroom (spray booth) which includes the follow items ie: automated robot paint and air calibrations, performance outputs paint and air volumes to make sure equipment is achieving its set points. Spray booth conditions which includes temperature, humidity, and downdraft settings. Monitoring of oven temperatures looking operating for failures or issues which may impact on quality. 
Adjusting of operating set points/machine parameters  for continuous improvement or eliminating quality issues ie: paint flow, shaping air, turbine speed, flush cycle set up, accuflow operating system control set points, perform paint and air calibrations, machine cycle testing, performance/equipment buyoffs for maintenance repairs. I’m very acute at fault finding and problem solving with the equipment, also knowing extra knowledge of machine operating systems which can allow me to bypass or disable certain features to reduce impact of machine/quality related issues until a window of opportunity is available to repair the faulty equipment. Contacting the Paint mix on paint/solvent supply or paint formulation issues so that necessary adjustments can be made.
Liaise with management, maintenance via meetings/email/phone/two way radio regarding machine/spray booth/shop issues and downtime. Working with paint supply companies to set up new paint trial colours, trial new products/additions or adjustments to current materials and review performance for continuous improvement purposes. Working with contract companies on robot programming path/profile changes for continuous improvement or application issues. 
Project implementation of new equipment/processes/procedures/products and materials due to my additional skill sets and my Team leader role functions.
Team leader Role which included the following: sharing information with my team regarding safety bulletins, company announcements, team meetings, tracking/monitoring and constant reviewing each element of the process control department for continuous improvement and performance based effectiveness involved with labour allocations, training and team flexibility also daily reviewing of Safety, Attendance, Quality percentages targets, cost usage of consumables and ordering of store items for my team/plant requirements, downtime responsiveness cause and counter action plans, total preventative maintenance activities regarding schedules/timing and procedures, environmental procedures and processes for usage/storage of hazardous/non hazardous chemicals and or materials, layered job audit inspections, this ongoing reviewing process is to have full understanding what is required for accountability of departmental responsibilities so that senior management satisfaction/objectives are achieved. 
I`m also skilled in other areas of the process control group ie: paint/duco storeroom/paint mix areas, electric coat process which have a vast range of different chemicals and materials which have special hazardous procedures and processes for handling and storage. I was involved the Fire squad as a volunteer which functions were observing hot work, insolating/protecting potential hazards to people or plant while following safety standards and requirements. I hold a current fork lift licence that is nationally certified. I have completed Health and Safety representative training levels 1, 2, & 3 and served as a Health and Safety representative for a duration of approximately 4 years.

A typical day at work may entail the following.

Attending to Customer Incidents and requests
troubleshooting network incidents at local site.
Incident management , escalation and ensuring SLA is met
Coordinating up coming changes and approvals
Working on project work, from configuring, to implementing of network infrastructure
Asset management work, from auditing to receiving and asset storage. / quarterly reports.

What I learned.

I learned valuable skills such as troubleshooting, varying network technologies, cabling (copper and fiber), site surveys and deployments, hardware and utilising all of the tools to manage the network, collaborating with technical and non-technical teams. Communicating at all levels from Senior management to the end user. Managing external vendors and third parties to ensure successful implementations / incident resolution.

Hardest part of the job:

getting monetary approval to perform work interstate / overseas, was difficult.


The most enjoyable part of the job.

Working on projects, a sense of accomplishment, of creating something, of team work, providing challenges and winning.

-     Inspections, monitoring production performance and Quality Control.
-     Internal auditing, quality control, torque packs, certify that breakpoints go through the correct
      process, D.T.’s, volume introductions, operating the MGO internal system and FGRD’s.
-     Investigate and communicate issues of quality deficiencies with suppliers, take photos of 
      defective or suspicious items, record batch numbers, identification numbers, dates and 
      any other relevant information, record in the internal computerised system and email to 
      nominated supplier representative for immediate rectification and action.
-     Notify supervisors and production managers if major problems are evident after completing 
      initial investigations.
-     Liaison between production and suppliers on relevant quality issues to ensure correct outcomes 
      are achieved.
-     Supervise team members and allocate daily duties.
-     Train and assist in inductions of new team members.
-     Attend daily toolbox meetings discussing safety and assembly issues.

I was very sorry to leave GM unfortunately they began downsizing  and because i was one of the last hired i was in the first lot retrenched i would have still been working there if it wasn't for  retrenchment, i would say the employees and management  on the floor were always positive and cooperative. Facilities were very comfortable and complete from supplying meals ,car park and break or eating areas,i worked alot of hours overtime night shift and extra shifts when  available and happy to do so,i met people there that i still keep in touch  with now,a very poitive experience.

Direct management has no background knowledge in my field so did not understand the capabilities of the area.
co workers are energetic and enjoyable to work with, which made it easy to go to work each day.
Hardest part of the job was convincing management of our abilities and skills.
Most enjoyable was always meeting new people and working on prototype, new and exciting projects.

Holdens is a great place to work but lately its had its ups and downs. I need a job with job security. I have nearly finished my tafe course in Data Voice communications. Open cabler. I get along pretty good with all of my work mate we are all team player. The hardest part of the job is the cuts in labour and a higher work load. The best part of the job is its full time.

Mostly everyone got on really well and enjoyed the work and the company we where allowed to have a radio playing which made people happy and being that i am an easy going person we all got along.

Potentially good workplace ruined by a few bad managers. The less said the better.....................................................................A poor product which fails to advance owing to a siege mentality & the need to watch finances over quality. Too many people playing political games for their own self-preservation. "On a clear day you can see General Motors" is a book worth reading as the toxic culture mentioned is still unchecked.

Fast paced, but professional.
Conditions were good, they kept us up to date on everything that effected our industry.
The gas industry problems effected production, Holden knew it would effect us, so they looked for solutions to nullify the impact. They offered a chance to use our leave, or get an advance if we had no leave. They never left us to fend for ourselves.

This role was by far the hardest thing I have ever done.
Developing a world first concept site from scratch had its fair share of headaches. But the feeling of achievement upon completion, I have no words to describe the feeling.
I was sad when my contract ended but my work was done.
