Being owner operated allowed myself to really take ownership and pride in my work. Being able to grow with the business and learn to take on responsibilities toward staff, customers and everyone around me allowed me to take pride in myself and the way i did things.

owning the shop allowed me to build a fantastic team under me while making lifelong friends in customers and staff alike. The benefits of owning a coffee/dessert shop was also evident in the amount of quality food being eaten and caffeine being ingested.

head office and franchisor provided plenty of hands on training at the start, this also continued for the life of my ownership there which really allowed me to grow and gain further confidence with everything i was doing.



I worked here for a few months and working here during peak hours is absolute worst. They are extremely strict even when you just start learning things and expect you to know everything. They threaten to fire you almost every shift without actually doing so because no one wants to work there so they're always understaffed. The manager is quite physical and will grab your arm tightly if you do something wrong or push you around. I dont recommend this job at carousel but the pay is okay and the co workers are amazing people. Unfortunately the management is discouraging and not lenient at all but at least the other people that work here are kind and understand how awful the management is.

Gelare watertown was my first workplace since I migranted to Australia. They gave me the chance to work with good rates and supported a lot mentally. 

They also offered their good coffee and food during shifts. Colleagues were so lovely and helpful as well as good regular customers. Fast paced and lively working environment so you can learn everything quickly.

I think the managers were one of the best part of the job, they listened, helped and respected their all staff equally.

I am having such a good memory and still missing the time when I worked there. If you have any chance to work with them, just grab it!

I have worked at Gelare since 2015, the manger and staff at Gelare were very welcoming. I am thankful for the position as I have learnt many valuable skills including, fast learning, handling difficult situation, handling money, interacting with customers, etc.

A typical day at work includes serving and interacting with customers, cleaning, preparing food, stocking products, handling money and preparing the shop for the next day. 

overall I enjoy my job but the only down fall is that I only receive night shifts and as I am graduating high school I am now looking for a position that can offer me shifts during the day.

Management at the store is good. Things can be a little tense when working with superiors when it's super busy, but overall everyone supports each other. Hours are flexible, good if you're studying or not seeking full-time. It can be tough with the rosters at times though, especially during uncertain times. Sometimes it can be 2-3 days a week, other times it can be 4-5 days a week.

Serving customers with hot beverages and food. You can learn heaps about customer experience, after working for couple months, you feel that you confidence with people is getting stronger. Easily you can talk with management about work shifts or any work issue. Hardest part was getting fast about all menu. Most enjoyable thing was people that you work with, and customers that quite often open to talk with you.

It was good to have a  training when I was joining the team The management is supportive. I felt safe and respected every time I worked. As the cafe aims to provide quality service, it was rewarding to work. I loved their professionalism. The co-workers were hardworking and supporting each other. Most of the customers are very friendly and kind. 

working at Gelare was awful, i had 1 training shift which was 2 hours and there was so much tedious stuff to learn and it was impossible. The people were OK at best to work with but were very judgemental towards new people and their skill level, you felt uncomfortable all the time

She takes advantage of the needy Indian community girls applying for job and pays less than the government pay rates. Ask people to work free as training for a month and then pay $11 as training for further period until asked.

Loved working at Gelare as a retail assistant for nearly 6 years. The training and support was good and made great friends along the way. Developed good skills as a first job which have assisted me with career progression
