Being an Indian, I was the only one of that nationality at gyg but I did face some cultural differences there. Nobody actually trains you to do certain things eg line work, there no unique training for that. You just gotta go w the flow and learn it all by yourself w time. I was told to do closing shifts at the time of recruitment and said that they start closing at 10 and finish it by 11 but thats wrong, they start closing at around 10:45 or so and it goes up to 12 or even close to 1am. Personally, I had no conveyance so it was a difficult time for me. When closing, the shift leaders will put all the newbies to dishes and the other people to the rest of the stuff not even making an effort to teach the new person how to close line or whatever the other work is. Some people are good but some shift leaders just do not deal equally with everyone. I took 3 sick leaves in like 2 weeks because I was actually not okay and refused to do night shifts as it was tough for me to commute, I was fired within the next week so there is no job security either. Although I was on my probation period, no reason was provided and you’re just left wondering where you went wrong even if you give your 100 percent to them. This was my personal experience as a new employee there, yours can be different.

 if you’re a student looking for a good casual job, then gyg is probably for you. the pay is better than most fast food establishments and you’ll usually meet a great team of coworkers. however, shifts are inconsistent and no free food :( don’t expect more than 9 hrs a week after your training period tho so if you’re not in school, it’s not in your best interests. 

I am a hard working guy with great work ethics and most importantly enjoy my job. So I didn't have a hard time getting along with my work mates and learned the job in no time that made it more easier. I got all the necessary training and guidance necessary to perform well in the job.

My work day at GYG would start early in the morning to work both on cooking the breakfast menu and veggies preparation for the day. 

I have learnt a lot on working in the kitchen because I only had experience of FOH. 

The most enjoyable part was the work environment, the people, and the fast tempo of working at GYG.

Just like any fast food job out there. It was pretty good regarding the work you have to do, though it could often become very stressful and demanding. My team was great, but there was also a lot of drama. I couldn't get through the week without someone screaming at someone else. 

Not much investment in the team from head office but team alone is amazing. Would be great to see more focus on staffing in stores

Had to get back paid for 2 months because I was managing the team but I didn’t get paid for it until I escalated.

Pretty good place to work overall pay wasn’t the best however employees were all lovely therefore making the work environment very fast paced environment can be stressful at times

Nothing bad to say, nice people, fast paced but not too stressful

Good job for people of all ages. 
Managers are nice Nd respect time off well. 
20% off all the time and 50% off during shifts 

can be a very easy and chill job, the management is next level terrible though. will pressure you into signing a contract, but won’t let you use leave when wanted. decent people though
