GSL: A Good Start to Life

Terrible place to work. Previous management were fantastic, knew the staff, were supportive and really cared for the participants. Current management are horrible. Micromanaging teams on the floor, no support, management looks down on support staff. This place is always changing policies and processes and not carrying this over to the staff. Expect staff to fill their own shifts even when sick. This company is always about what they can take, how much money they can make with no regard for the participants. This company does not provide training, maternity leave or career advancement. It would be great if management could see that support workers are actual humans, who without, wouldn't be in the role they have. Not a good place. If you're looking at getting into this work, please look elsewhere first. 

This is not a "not for profit" company as most are in this industry (or all that I'm aware of). A young company and its shows with lack of policy and procedures...Have no understanding of risk management practices, do not do risk assessments of any type. Poor HR culture and grievance procedures are not followed...Complained to manager on lack of hours with no response...Escalated to Director as per policy on my lack of hours and was terminated without following their own procedures....DO NOT COMPLAIN at this company...Prefer to work for a true Not For Profit organisation as their profits are reinvested into staff, training & facilities.

I worked with GSL and gave my week notice, I worked my week notice and the last two days fell into the new pay period.  They did not pay me for those days I tried to contact pay roll and management but they keep on ignoring me.  During my time at GSL I was left multiple times alone on shift with three high risk children, this shift requires two support workers. My last day I was alone with these high risk children and had  to do school drop offs in multiple areas.   
They are unprofessional and do not care about there clients or staff

Very supportive leadership team, inviting and nurturing culture of mutual respect and collaboration. Help was available all the time.  Although their expectations are high, they provide adequate training and development and external training opportunities to up skill. Everyone is supportive and helpful which makes your first couple of months much easier.  Great place!

Thank you guys for the time I've shared with you all. Always willing to give me a call for work as I did suggest this. Good communication skills, staff are bubbly. I honestly couldnt have work with a better team. Staff training was on point. 

GSL is staffed and run by passionate people, who i believe truly care for their clients. Every company has its struggles, but ive always felt comfortable to reach out to managment when needed. 

Still has a ways to go, but ive always enjoyed working at GSL.

If you're passionate and vocal in advocacy for your Client you won't be appreciated here. Eventually receiving less and less hours. Communication goes ignored/unacknowledged. Micro managed. Treated like an idiot. Clients are called 'products'

Learning to work with a diverse group of clients and team members. Genuine care for all clients. Creative problem solving. The positive working relationships developed with clients and colleagues is the most enjoyable part of the job.

Very poorly run organisation. Leadership is non existent and continual changes to structure leaves total uncertainty for all staff. Wouldn’t recommend working here.

Would not recommend working for GSL. Very very high turn over of staff. Every pay check is incorrect- goodluck getting them to pay you correctly. CEO is money hungry.
