What is the best part of working at the company?
Julie Reid is a great manager, very understanding and supportive. Support staff are helpful and offer great tips when on 2 person assist visits. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not really stressful but sometimes it can get frustrating if you can't find the motivation to get to work especially if you have some emotional stress you haven't dealt with. But they offer EAP which is great and even a talk with the Manager is amazing. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very helpful and supportive. I was with them for about 8 months and enjoyed every minute of it. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I was in community so it varied from day to day. But on call staff were always amazing.

Goodwin works hard to keep employees happy and on board for the long run. They offer perks like days off on your birthday.
I really enjoyed my interactions with residents and staff. It was very fulfilling and I always felt better knowing I helped someone each day.
My biggest issue was the repetitiveness of the work, which was exactly the same down to the minute each and every day.
Another issue was shift times and taking leave. Goodwin is suitable if it is your primary job or career, however they are inflexible with taking leave if you cannot organise a swap. Not suitable for university students or people who take impromtu weekends away.

Poor management and lack of company culture. 
Conversations with other staff members revealed that they were deeply unhappy with the way centre was run. 
Understaffed but expected to do everything and step out of your role.

Payroll were unresponsive to calls and emails after resignation. A certain individual from People and Culture was one of the worst people to deal with. Disrespectful, demeaning and completely unhelpful which goes to show how they treat people. This man ignored all emails despite being employed in HR and employee relations.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Ethical towards elderly residents. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Senior management pick their favourites and are cruel to those who aren't. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Terrible at the corporate managment level. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Mine was a busy role and I had lots of meetings. I think much of my work has since been outsourced to contractors.

I loved working in the community care section,  staff were always available,  if I was at any risk the issue was addressed straight away,  I became confident, reasured, well played, enjoyed meeting up with different residential aged care and staff. I think it was the different vieriaty of every day work such as cleaning 1 minute, then going shopping, to appointment, relaxing and having a chat by the river, or just helping with ADL'S. A absolutely beautiful team to work for thanks GOODWIN. regards MH....

Staff work amongst their own cultures 
Management ignore the fact plus residents are suffering due to this, staff willing to do their job and help but refused because your not from their culture and residents are not attended to in a timely fashion. Management ignore the non English spoken conversation amongst staff and in resident rooms frequently. Again management ignore and do not help their staff. Terrible place and be willing to work alone all shift

A good place to work with great staff benefits and flexibility. Goodwin promotes internal growth within the organisation. Goodwin sponsored me to complete my Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Goodwin supports cultural and diverse workplace. I have been in various roles within Goodwin and I have enjoyed each and every role. I have up-skilled and increased my knowledge every day.

Showed up for my shift  out of 4 employees only2 turned up had no training left on my own . If the nursing staff werent there to help me 
I would not of known what was expected of me . 
The next shift I asked the Manager was it normal for staff at night not to turn up  his response was oh yes that is normal . But you were ok

Poor management, more focused on saving money and cutting costs than caring for the residents. residents didn't have much of a say in anything for fear of "upsetting "
Staff and management. 


Management always supportive. Good training. Good name in Canberra - best aged care service delivery in Canberra. Since and after Covid19 shortage of workers like in all aged care sectors, so workload a bit more demanding, respect still priority.
