• What is the most stressful part about working at the company?

The unorganised upper management who expect those working their stores to jump through impossible hoops in very little time and / or staff. 

• What is the work environment and culture like at the company?

Depends on your team but working under GRB is akin to following the instruction of a 50 year old with ADHD. They constantly are disorganised and put out one lot of instruction or guides only to amend it hours or days later, for constant, and I mean CONSTANT, sale changes. 

Delivery’s of 100+ boxes when you’re working on your own, overstock in your back room, overstock in your storeroom. Regional manager? They expect you to cope with 0 support. Just sell, sell, sell!! 

The sale cycle is not 6 weeks unlike most retail companies , it’s whenever GRB feel like it. 

- What is a typical day like for you at the company?

Checking emails, checking “the globe” for any recent changes to VM or otherwise. Sales, if you didn’t meet budget you’re met with criticism, but if you met budget you’re met with unenthusiastic thanks. Deliveries you know about. Deliveries you didn’t know about. Working on your own because having TWO people on at once is a waste of money obviously and you don’t have enough hours! You don’t feel valued as an employee representing the brand but as another cog in the GRB “high end” kitchen ware machine. 

The job itself isn't bad, typical retail job. However, constant and tedious VM changes that have to be done EXACTLY as described, even if it is to the detriment of the store and staff is tiring. Also, the amount of stock that was sent to stores, especially at Christmas, was often dangerous, especially at understaffed stores that could not keep up. Backrooms were dangerously full and a lot of the time there was stock that was in demand out the back, but could not be sold to customers because it wasn't reachable behind towers of boxes. 
Also, some practices (cashless well after the height of COVID) have become frustrating for staff and customers alike. I am tired of receiving the brunt of upset customers for being cashless, even though it is a decision that was not made by any staff in the store. 
Besides these issues, I did like a lot of the products in the store, and felt that my hourly rate as a casual was pretty good. 

state manager has changed at least  3 times in a year

every day is some new headache to deal with, store managers are stressed and not given the tools they need to succeed but "sales fix every thing"

low hours for casual staff 3hr shift twice a week if your lucky.

insane amounts of stock to handle with no real thought put into if its suitable for the location. 

VM changes are incredibly physical

upper management spends all their time in the big successful stores that have a dozen staff and seem out of touch with the smaller stores but still have the same expectations for kpi's and god forbid the store is even slightly unorganized or a bit messy right after a huge delivery or sales change 

expected to know and recite product knowledge for hundreds of item with new stuff coming all the time

angry customers are a daily thing

the product is quality but expensive and the confusing deals and signage turn customers away, buy one get one 50% will be the bane of your existence

 

over stocked for the size of the stores no room in the back rooms to move safely around or to get to stock often have to do dangerous things to complete vms or to get to excess stock or any stock you need.
Have to drive to off sites and deliver to other stores on your own time and use your own vehicle and fuel for this. constant vms mean more stock gets put out the back or to off sites only to be dragged back out a week later or months later. 
the same stock is delivered so you get so much of the same stock there is no where to put it and is unnecessary . Upper management dont follow protocol and breach the confidentialty agreements between other staff members and themselves. Just a number nothing else unless you can do the work for your upper management then you get looked after. 

Very high staff turnover.  Higher management are useless and not supportive.  Do not care about staff safety and sanity.  They sent out feedback forms to staff but have not made changes since.  Do not pay you for open/close of day which you have to complete in your own time.  Only put on one staff member for the full day and someone to cover them for lunch, meaning if you are there all day you don't get your allotted 10 min breaks usually.  Online training is exorbitant and you do not get paid for it.  The warehouse just keeps sending more and more stock when there isn't enough room for it in shops.  They send out VM changes at the last minute and expect you to have it completed that day, despite having to serve customers and unload stock.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The pay. It’s the only thing keeping me there

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Everything about it. The second I walk through the door I have a headache. The floor staff are lovely. Upper management is incompetent 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
In the store, it has its moments, but mostly calm. When upper management (especially state mangement) and in the store, the staff are under risk of being belittled and insulted due to their role.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Conversing with customers, processing sales, refilling the store, crying in the back room, general admin, searching for a new job.

What is the best part of working at the company?
There is none anymore slowly got worse and worse they have a big front that looks like they care for workers but only care fo4 workers willing to bully those below them

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Unpaid work.  Made to feel bad when refusing to work for free.  If you get Injured you're dropped 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Bully type of environment.  People above will talk about you and they treat young workers poorly felt very bad for a young girl that started when I did

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Never know what you're about to walk into it's caused me depression and anxiety

I’m currently in the second in charge position in a little local town. I love my job, we spend our time creating good bonds with customers helping them with everything they need. I think that’s a great statistic with the job our customers always come first. 
Yes there is no advancement  of higher levels in the career, you can’t advance in different learning materials. However, you get to focus on the needs of people who come in, merchandise the store properly and enjoy the comfort of working in a team. 
Staff discount is a reasonable mark down from different items. Management and owner ship of the business have it in a good working order they all know how to run our business professionally.

Having a job where you feel respected and depended on is a great feeling. I've never enjoyed working with my regional sales manager more at any other job I have had. Help is always one quick email away, not only from my regional sales manager but from other stores, and from further ups.  You're always heard and seen no matter what position you acquire in GRB. Open communication between all stores across the state is great also, you will make friends and build close relationships. The deadlines and tasks are fast pace and reasonable, as everything is preemptively thought out and set up to be easy. There will be a few 7am starts but in retrospect it is great to be given a chance to be given time to be without interruption to do tasks.  

House has awful regional managers, they treat shop staff terribly and expect you to have no life, sometimes work 10+ hours on your own unloading multiple pallets while store is open and serving customers. Store management used to call me in early saying the shop was so busy, then go home themselves when I arrived hours earlier than rostered. Expected to be at their beckon call or else you will be treated badly.
