The …. rises to the top someone used to always tell me, and that's exactly how this is at Fulton Hogan.
It's funny because FH try to maintain this image that they are soo family community orientated, care for their people just because they are a New Zealand company, well neither in NZ or in AUS its not like that, its the same. 
Even their pretend 'nice guy' the face of FH, who looks to be so caring does not give a …. about anyone, its clear he loves his management to be ruthless and uncaring. 
Hard long hours. The longer you are at work the better you are, just sit around pretending to have work to do. Look important. Send lots of fancy emails.
They don't actually care about your work life balance, well they do but when it suits them only.
Management by favouritism, the more brown your nose is and the more you pretend to know what yore doing the higher of a position you hold.
As long as you do what you're told you will stay there.
They make mistakes and lose lots of ….. but they just cover it up, no accountability for management, they don't pay their true workers fairly at all but others have heavy benefits. 
Most companies are like this but what's frustrating about FH is that they try so hard to paint this picture of them being different and they are not. 
It's delusional.
So go work at FH get what you need out of them, hey some people are even happy there, and there are lots of very nice people there. 
The nice thing is management are easily manipulated, they are not very intelligent, get what you need from them, then move on to better things, there are lots of truly good companies out there. This is not one of them.

My opinion of Fulton Hogan W.A is not a good one. There is a culture of bullying new employees. There is hardly any breathtesting as you are handed a piece of paper that you write 0.00 on and it seems the site boss and supervisors are covering there favourites. The managers don't want to know about labour hire employees as they think they are like an expendable product. We had our safety day last Monday and a speaker there said we should care about each other more.Fat chance of that happening as things just go on the same as allways. Fulton Hogan has a long way to go to attain any sort of high standard in this industry. The Managers are rude,selfish and uncaring like they dont seem to know or care what is going on on the ground. I just thought that considering the guys on the ground do all the physical work that they would be treated better. Come on we work 14 hours a day without a scheduled break so many days you are fatigued after you drive home. Fatigued drivers and operators make mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes and the supervisers are rude to you maybe because they are stressed themselves. I have a fear that one day a serious workplace incident/accident will take place on the job. I hope I a wrong.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Great Company, really good management team that care about their workers, your not just a number. Really good team environment and really safety focused.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
As this was the Vic Roads contract, I would dealing with the live traffic situations on the road, where visual awareness of your surroundings and being focused at all times while being around live traffic.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Great culture and great team bond, regular tool box meetings with a monthly BBQ.
Very approachable management team at the Hallam ( Vic Roads contract) really enjoyed it.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Tool box meeting to start.
Get told who your working with for the day.
Organise what you need and go out to do various tasks (safely) answer to callout through the day from flooding to car accidents and potholes or to remove dead animals from the road and other various roles and requests.

Fulton Hogan have many departments under the one name so this review does not include fulton hogan as a major business only the specific department i was wokring for.

i worked as a truck driver to drive machinery interstate to R.A.A.F bases and then worked as a labourer doing runway maintenance for up to a month or 2 at a time.  

schedules were always pushed very closely together so if there was a mistake or mis management of a machine we would be set back and therefor have to work massive hours eveyday to get the job finished in time to meet the deadline or before.

all in all i enjoyed my time and experience from fulton hogan as knew i wanted to pursue work that allowed my to make more money so i have no finished my study to work in the mining industry as im always looking to further my career as i have an opportunity to set myself up very well in the future at my current age of 22

Fulton Hogan has allowed me to develop myself professionally across a wide variety of roles.
Engaged as a Project Engineer currently I have had the opportunity to undertake site engineering work, construction and project management work, health and safety work, quantity surveying and estimating work as well as documentation and management of quality systems within the organisation.

They work you to the bone, no consideration for your personal life, expect long hours that’s not reflected in you salary. Promise you everything, then shift the goal posts on you with no consultation prior making it impossible to meet their requirements
Management do not live n breath the FH values but expect everyone else to
Issues raised get swept under the carpet and the guys on the ground get the blame
Absolutely appalling!  
HR and HSE issues go left unanswered and your made to feel intimidated when you ask again
Their uniform allowance is a joke, holes in boots and torn shirts won’t be replaced yet a certain HSE Coordinator is a walking FH uniform catalogue
Double standards through the place 
Toxic environment in their main office

Both fortunate and unfortunate of not having a job title when I started. This allowed me to work over a large cross section of the company. I was able to use the skills I had developed over the years to assist the Project Manager in getting the job completed. From organising safety documentation to on site management. I was able to be a tradesman repairing plant in the morning, roller operator in the afternoon and finish line marking at the end.

A job not suited for everyone as you do work alone a lot and you don't have a constant Manager or supervisor so your work can go unnoticed or unappreciated. Also it is hard to explain to people what your job title is as you don't have one.

The managment are a bunch of bully’s, nothing done by workers was ever good enough, employers were always treated as if they were always doing something wrong.
 Dare question them about safety issues or procedures and you would paint a target on your back. Zero training provided and unless you were stroking the egos of managment and supervisors there was no chance of any further progression in the company, no matter what your skill rating was. 
Full time isn’t an option, most guys were strung along for 18months.

Unorganised continually and one of the least professional companies I had ever worked for.

I'm currently working with  this company  at McGrath Hills . What  can say it's no correlation between a senior staff and new people who just started. Also senior staff putting a pressure on new workforce, with  poor  training.  The company motto " people of heart everything " doesn't apply  on daily basis.  There is no innovation progress,  old data  equipment doesn't  aplay with  current safety  standards.  Easy  gets hurt and injured from a poor  skills coordination. I'm not recommending.  There is a rotate  role on PNB plant and McGrath Hill,  a lot verbal abusing from a seniors stuff.

As a casual driver I would get a job briefing/details/timings.
Carry out vehicle checks, Refuel and top up water tank with water if required.
Drive out to work site.
Report to Job supervisor,Sign in, Carry out duties as required.
Management / supervisors / co workers, were good, helpful and gave advice when asked for or felt that I needed advice.
Nothing hard about the job really.
Carrying out my duties in a safe and efficient manner, to ensure everyone was safe in my area of operations. 
I left at own request because as a casual on call driver my pay / work days were not regular/consistant and was struggling financially.
