Fremantle Hospital

The position at Fremantle Hospital was predominantly Dictaphone transcription of reports and letters to General Practitioners.  The workload was enormous requiring approximately 10,000 words per day for varied discplines within the general outpatient clinic.  Along with the pressures of accuracy, expediency and a grasp of the terminologies came job satisfaction.

The team of Doctors, Surgeons, Nursing staff and clerical staff within the outpatient clinics were always a pleasure to work alongside.

The hardest part of the job was listening to the many accents and pronunciation of drugs and procedures.  But this was rare and always a challenge.

The most enjoyable part was producing accurate letters to the Doctors and Surgeons from transcription to letters for  signature always within a 24 hour turnaround.

Management was always there if you had any queries.The days at Fremantle were always different with new patients to look after and have a chat too. Time management is a must when delivering of the meals tea or coffee. Working with co-workers as each person had their own skill and expertise to offer. The hardest part of the job was when a patient passed away and dealing with the family in a professional way. The most enjoyable part of my work was great the patients with a smile and breakfast.

I enjoyed my time during the placement at Fremantle Hospital. I had the opportunity to practice my knowledge as nursing student and gaining more efficient skills.

The administration was unsatisfactory however the patients were well cared for by myself and overall I enjoyed working here. Fremantle Hospital enabled me to mix quality patient care with efficiency in a friendly fashion.

A large number of lazy workers yet alot of fun when working with the right crew.
Adaptable roster for when I needed more or less hours work according to my uni schedule

A friendly work environment. Excelence in Patient care is first and foremost, but staff who have worked at other hospitals and returned say it is good to be home.

I worked in various positions from ward clerk, triage, outpatient clerk, medical secretary, medical records  all had there different challenges but I’m one for more knowledge

Management only care about permanent staff or related staff.
Will never bother to get out of the office and verify any complaints.
Lazy and very unprofessional.

Good environment to work, supportive management and high standard team work. Opportunity for secondment into other areas of interests and departments.
