I am part of the Fluor HSS Response team, I am responsible for the managing of the Security and Traffic contract scope for the Santos Roma 02 GLNG Upstream Project.

My day to day duties consists of the following functions in support of the EPC component of the Project itself.
•	Security Risk Management
•	Incident investigation
•	Threat and risk assessments
•	Journey Management
•	Alcohol testing
•	Implementing Project Traffic Management Plan
•	IVMS management
•	Emergency Management Coordination
•	Implementing Project Security Management Plan
•	Operational overview and management of third party security services, medical services and vehicle and industrial incident response team (VIIRT)
•	Law enforcement liaison and engagement

In my new role I was required to learn the Fluor Culture and the Security and Traffic Regulations and Policies, Drug and Alcohol Policies and the Fluor Policies and Procedures for the Roma 02 Phase 1 Upstream Project. 

I have also learned how to construct an investigation, take statements, documenting incidents and assisting IR and HR management when required. As well as gaining certification as a Helicopter Landing Officer which has helped. As I have been called a number of times to assist the Project Medical staff requiring a helicopter evacuation for an injured person.

My position has given me the opportunity to meet and work with a variety of project management, which I have found to be extremely helpful and willing to share information and their resources associated to the Project and the Culture of the company.

My co workers are fantastic and very open and easy to communicate with. This being an incredible benefit to the Project, also ensuring that we all achieve a productive and timely result, guaranteeing a positive outcome for all concerned.

The hardest part of the role is keeping some project road signs from being knocked over.

The most enjoyable part of the job is the having the opportunity to be doing what I am doing and look forward to my next challenging role.

•	Responsible Engineer for the 145 kV Switchgear package that includes 132 kV Circuit Breaker, 132 kV Current Transformer; 132 kV Capacitive Voltage Transformer, 132 kV Surge Arrestor, 132 kV Disconnector and Earth Switches and 132 kV Post Insulators.
•	Responsible Engineer for the Transformer package that includes 132/33 kV, 75/100MVA Power Transformers, 33/11 kV Power Transformers, 33 / 0.4 kV, 500kVA Distribution Transformers,  33 kV Earthing Transformers, & 33/11 kV NER’s.
•	Documentation related to the above two packages include Master Documentation Index (MDI), Schematic drawings, General Arrangement drawings, Layout drawings, Datasheets, Technical Clarifications (PACR), Weekly Reports, Minutes of Technical & Procurement Meetings, Calculations, Inspection and Test Plan, Factory Acceptance Tests and Results.
•	Approval of key documentation via POL (Project on Line) to ensure timely construction and delivery of equipment.

Material shortages were a constant concern to supervision, the project was overloaded with non-relevant documentation that had to be retrieved from worksites and handed over in form of MDR. The business culture took very long time to change to more realistic and manageable packages. Overall Flour is a very good employer and I rate them highly the backup in technical terms is excellent with readily contactable discipline engineers and metallurgists always willing to share their knowledge. The available Process Procedures and Manuals is extremely good and are easily understood by the reader.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The person standing next to you. The company tolerated harassment and old school fear and bullying tactics. They promoted people that knew the job but awful people skills with minimal training as a leader. Not a company I would recommend.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being away from home for extended periods of time

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Awful culture, talks the talk but doesn’t walk it.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Up at 4am - meeting at 6am - Drive to site by 8am - start works at 8:30 till 4:30pm - Drive to yard restock - leave for camp 5:30pm.  Repeat 14 days then fly home for 6.

A typical day at work would be working from home or in the office. A flexible role at adjusted as I needed it to. I learned about the engineering environment and its peaks and troughs. And I gained specialist skills in my area as I had close relationships with my external providers. Management was there if I needed a question answered. My co-workers were brilliant however due to the declining environment of the sector one by one were made redundant. The hardest part of my job was dealing with time differences all around the world. And the most enjoyable part was running my own HR function and reporting to Management on my successes.

Fluor Australia is an North American company established in 1930's and has got branches all over the world and in fields. It has got very good culture of team work in producing world class innovations in engineering field covering all disciplines . The management of staff, time, and projects has been their main asset. I have enjoyed working with the company and co-workers and  team leaders and mangers involving in every stage of the project monitoring progress and reaching the deadlines and delivering projects on time and on budget.

I started with the JV Fluor SKM in 2008 at the Hub in Newman,it was at the start of the mechanical works and i stayed there on the construction then finishing off on the commissioning so was one of the last to leave this site, i then spent about a year on the wharf and material handling at Finucane Island in Hedland this then started to come to an end i was terminated there then went to Orange at the expansion in NSW of the Cadia gold mine

When working with Fluor you know you have a knowledge base from with to acquire assistance if necessary. The organisation has a sound culture and strives for ongoing continuous improvement at all levels. When engaged with Fluor a sense of achievement is acknowledged by peers and others.

First time in the oil &gas industry &I will definitely will be actively looking to continue in this role.Great bunch of blokes to work with as well as management.No pressure on anyone to work flat out ,just complete work in a safe & efficient manner.The 21/7 roster is perfect for my situation.p.s & Im well paid. I sound like a happy worker don't I.
