There are busy days and good days at my unit since  is one of the high flow unity for the patients who needs admission to an extent that they end up in short of beds. I have learnt that every day is a different day and you come across with all different kind of of illness and we dont deal with those patient much its only for a short term or for a couple of hours before they are moved to their home ward which makes it hard to see the progress of that individual later on.Sometimes its hard as the management does care about your social life where its balancing with work , for example if you make a request for the roster they do not consider it at all which makes it hard for you as an employee to balance it.The hardest part is when the allocation is very heavy and you are short staff and you are expected to make sure that patients are being moved to the next ward before you have not done much for them for that day as you feel like you did not perfom to the best.The most enjoyable part is every day is a new day for me at work as l always meet new faces all the time.

A typical day can be rewarding, exciting, productive and hard working.

What I learned, Communication with co-workers is very important and also working as a team.

Management, Management have a job to do and people to answer to, if you have a good manager you will have good workers that are willing to go the extra mile for the manager.

Workplace Culture, Treat everyone the same and respect their culture.

Hardest part of the job, can be when you have someone that is not part of a team, and or a manager that doesn't respect their workers.

Enjoyable part of the job, Knowing that you have given a %100 during your work day. Connecting with new friends.

Depending on where I am stationed for the day my work duties will vary greatly. My team take care of Front of House reception which basically means we are the first person to great visitors and patients at Fiona Stanley Hospital. Our work day is always interesting and we interact with a vast array of people. There is a great culture amongst our team and we promote transparency and information sharing between departments to encourage a fluid experience for anyone attending the hospital. We can encounter difficult visitors or patients, but the best part of my job is being able to turn a negative experience for them around into a positive one.

I'm lucky I work in a really good and cohesive dept currnetly but I've worked in another dept where they scan records and it's rife with nepotism, favoritism and mgrs who spend their time watching youtube at level 5 salary - no encouragement for staff to upskill, in fact they tell you you can't go for EOI's for other positions becos they 'can't backfill' - but if you are a relative or friend it's no problem!  Very low standards of care about the work produced - which is unsettling in a hospital environment due to the main managers having zero people skills or personalities. Like I said I'm very glad I am working elsewhere as it's a strong and united team with high expectations on you, which I love.   

FSH is always on the lookout to perform at a strong tertiary level. It considers the welfare of its staff but its main focus is the health and welfare of the patient population. The staff are committed to providing a competent and reliable standard of care. I was continually amazed and encouraged by the positive workplace actions of staff in many areas from what nurses were doing for their patients to what pastors were doing for staff. It is an overall positive place to work in, although somewhat competitive, and focussed on COVID 19.

* assist with transport and escort of patients to appropriate locations.
* Transport equipment, materials and supplies internally within the hospital
* Operate a range of basic tools, equipment and machinery on which training has been provided.
* Perform a range of routine duties associated with cleaning services assisting with emergency response in accordance with the emergency management plan.

In today's workplace, organizations have to be more effective and efficient than ever to be competitive. For this reason, employees need to consistently improve their performance. When supervisors conduct performance evaluations effectively, it can optimize productivity in the workplace to align with the organization's strategy. An effective evaluation should work for the benefit of both the employee and the organization.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Working with my team of nurses and AIN's.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The staff and how well organised they are.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I work with all different cultures and nationalities.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Can be a little overwhelming at times.

It depends on where I am rostered that day, can include state rehab, reception, emergency, neonatal etc.
I have learned a lot of hospital protocols, and the roles of each staff member.
Management is incredible, very helpful.
I find the workplace to be very accepting of all cultures, they also have an Aboriginal liaison centre. 
Doing volunteering here is very fulfilling personally, and the team is really great.

It was a fun workplace as everyone was just learning the new equipments, new computer programmes and learning the hospitals protocols. Rehabilitation at Fiona Stanley was the first one to open. So it was exciting and challenging at the same time  as everything was new.
