A typical day at work would entail of opening the store, handling cash by counting the morning float ready for the day, filling out the daily planner to ensure the casuals working that day would know which zones they were to work in and what duties to carry out.
I would then check how much stock was going to be delivered that day and begin talking to customers ensuring excellent customer service is shown at all times, getting to know the customers individually and helping their shopping experience with any support they needed as well as focusing on the days kpi's and budgets needing to be met or exceeded.
On certain days, a visual merchandise forum would need to be completed to ensure the shop floor layout was looking its best and how the company would like it. At times, it would mean using my own initiative to ensure the shop floor was looking its best and easy for the customers to shop. Myself and the causals would complete two rack ups a day to ensure customers are able to find everything they are looking for in a positive and simple shopping environment.
I would also communicate with my regional manager a few times in the day about how are sales are looking for the day and if any store changes needed to occur,
I have learnt some excellent management skills since working at this retail company including organisation skills, motivational skills, communication, working with budgets and KPI's, visual merchandise techniques and overall how to produce a fast paced energetic workforce built on mutual respect and motivation to succeed.

the store had a great vibe, apart from the usual head knock with other employees the instore experience i had was great. once head office or regionals or state management get involved you've got no hope. they were hardly supportive, if you had questions they treated you as if you were the dumbest person on the planet and would instantly become inpatient with you because 'you should already know this' when you hadn't even gone through it or heard of it before. they'd gone through 3 store managers in the 9 months i worked for them as well as 2 regional managers. i was promised 30 hours a week, left my full time job because i was enjoying the store more thinking this would be a great life changing oppurtunity/experience only to receive 20 hours a week if i was lucky as the only other original staff member left had been sent the same text message. it had literally been copied and pasted to us both by our regional manager at the time. this company was and apparently, according to staff im still close to that are still there, still is one of the most unorganised and unfriendly companies ive ever worked for.

Working as an Assistant Manager at Factorie for the Cotton On Group was a fulfilling role that offered significant growth opportunities. The position involved leading a team, managing daily operations, and ensuring a vibrant store environment, which was rewarding. The supportive culture within the Cotton On Group fostered collaboration, and regular training enhanced leadership and retail skills. Engaging with customers and driving brand vision was exciting, but hitting sales targets proved challenging. The high expectations for sales quotas, coupled with the need to motivate the team to upsell, created pressure, especially during slower periods with low customer traffic. Balancing exceptional customer service, stock management, and administrative tasks while striving to meet ambitious targets required resilience and strategic planning. Despite the difficulties, the role provided valuable insights into retail management and team dynamics, making it a worthwhile experience that demanded persistence to succeed.

A typical day at work consisted of going over the budget goals and basic housekeeping, then jumping straight into floor work. Greeting customers was a must - we were always encouraged to drop what we were doing and greet customers. 

I learned to be aware of my surroundings at all times, the importance of a positive attitude, patience, how to multi-task, how to deal under pressure. 

Management was helpful but at times overbearing. Budget goals were often too high for the amount of foot traffic we were getting in store. 

The hardest part of the job was trying to meet daily budget when there wasn't enough customers looking to buy anything - even with great customer service. 

the most enjoyable part of the job was when customers loved what outfits I had put together and literally bought my entire outfit, or when we had customers who were really happy about their purchase.

Factory is a wonderful place to work, to atmosphere is incredible and the staff are always so friendly as we get trained to be this way.
The way the staff get trained up is great, really easy to understand and is super helpful.
A typical day at work is fun, moderately busy, we always have something to do whether its serving customers, cleaning or doing stock
The management are great, all very friendly and understanding of any problems that are faced and the staff members like i said are so kind and thoughtful, they become like a second family.

The hardest part of the job is usually making budget and multis, keeping on track and making sure you complete all set tasks, and for me the whole job is enjoyable

Factorie is a "learn fast work fast" company. I gained a impressive skills with customers and jaw dropping sales skills, this is a company that if you were to put in the correct energy and intellect they will see your potential and make sure it is rewarded. I was always excited to go to work, the music, the people and the shop surrounding gave a energetic and fun "vibe". My coworkers appreciated me as a respected them, everyone was patient and helpful in the learning process even when things were difficult my coworkers were more than helpful. And by far the most enjoyable part of the jobs were the related benefits! Factorie really do care for their staff and hard work does not go noticed.

I typically worked weekends which were the busier days of the week. I enjoyed being given responsibility at a younger age of just 17 to open and close the store, as well as working with a team who I created a great bond with. I enjoyed going to work and meeting the targets set by head office. This was made much easier because I enjoy fashion and people. My managers were always so encouraging and provided good feedback which also made me enjoy coming to work each day. The difficult part of the job was when we did not meet targets, but my manager was always a positive person who encouraged us to pick ourselves up and aim to reach the next target.

This has been a very enjoyable and rewarding workplace allowing me to advance and continue to be an inspirational leader and create an exceptional performing team and a welcoming and reputable store.

I was given the opportunity to become the Caretaking Store Manager, enabling me to step up and take control and monitor the store and results on a daily basis and implement strategies to continue to meet and exceed budgets, KPI's, stock, Loss Prevention.

I am now continuing to work as a Senior Casual and working alongside a productive and supportive team and enjoy going to work each day.

Management talks about always being there to lend a hand and be your best self but when you ask for assistance they either take forever to communicate back to you or guilt trip you into feeling bad for asking in the first place.
It was an incredibly toxic work environment, a lot of team members would be talking behind each other's backs and discussing about how fake and discriminatory upper management is. Extremely unsupportive environment, would NEVER recommend working here. There are plenty of other companies with a way better and encouraging culture.

The workplace culture at Factorie is like no other and is very fun for all employees. A typical day at work consists of customer service, replenishing stock levels and work as a team to meet KPI's/budgets.The most enjoyable part of the job is bonding with your work team and making sales and the hardest part of the job would be having a better work/life balance. Overall, It's a great place to start out in retail and the management is really good.
