A Very fast pace job Environment. the job must be done before the Residents come home from work. It can be done if you are organised and fit. Some Colleagues struggled and didn't survive for long. Management is very demanding, if you can't do the job that has been assigned to you, you will be replaced or left behind.
To survive, you need an end goal and take one shift at a time.
To do 40+ rooms a day, you can only spend 5 mins per room.

The salary was great, you have to remind yourself why you are there and don't get involved with the brutal angry lifestyle this type of job can bring.

Benefits, you can save because accommodation, food, laundry, the uniform (PPE) is provided. You also meet some amazing people.

Management is the worse part of this whole experience, you are just another number

This type of job is not for everyone.

If you survive this type of job you find out what you can achieve and uphold, I grew a few thick skins.

I have worked at barrow island gor more than 5 and a half years and as i went on for the job everyday i enjoyed working with different culture. I learned how to inter act and communicate with different types of people which i had to appreciate and carry on day by day. In every aspect of life is where i begun to listen and respect theyre rights and vise versa. The management look after us, everday we always had a tool box meeting and discuss some issues and resolved the problem that we had. The hardest part  of the job that i incountered is when  someone of your co worker doesnt do theyre job properly and not in a safe way doing thyre job..and being on this company i enjoyed working with different kinds of people and knowing thyre culture as well..thank you and god bless

Work a 12 hour day. Split shift with the morning cleaning and the evening Bar work.
I learned that anyone can do and achieve anything. As long as you don't loose sight of the end goal and don't compromise yourself.
Management has a hard job on-site. Employees are from different back grounds with different values. Throw into that misture the different personalities.
Co-workers varied on where I worked. But everyone had that person or persons you related to and for support.
Hardst part of the job was at the end of your swing when you were ready for you RNR.
I enjoyed the life style and living in WA. I also enjoyed the opportunities that were offered in the mining sector. Plus I have made some verry memorable friendships that will last a life-time.

Typically a hard and fast paced environment very often demanding physically and challenging. I have learnt that remote site work can be very unpredictable sometime and things can change in a moments notice. Management is quite good however they have their problems of their own which I can relate to having some managerial experience. I find too often some of the younger co-worker lacking the maturity and work ethics to perform the job and would much prefer working with older and experienced staff. The most enjoyable part of the job is "giving it your all" and walking away with the feeling of pride you have done your best to provide that service with the highest standard possible to make the patrons as welcome as home.

BUSY ALL DAY EITHER IN THE KITCHEN OR DINING ROOM CLEANING OR RESTOCKING 
I LEARNT NEW SKILLS FROM WORK MATES AND CHEFS IN HOW FOOD WAS HANDLED AND COOKED.
ENJOYED WORKING WITH MY CO-WORKERS, WAS MADE EASY AS WE ALL GOT ALONG EITHER ON NIGHT SHIFT OR DAY  SHIFT 
HARDEST PART OF THE JOB WAS COMING INTO A DIRTY KITCHEN OR DINING ROOM AND THEY WHERE ALL SITTING DOWN NOT HELPING ONE ANOTHER 
I ENJOYED EVERY ASPECT OF MY JOB MAKING SURE EVERY THING WAS CLEANED AND  READY FOR THE NEXT CREW COMING IN 
LOVED DECORATING DINING ROOM FOR THEME NIGHTS FROM WHAT WE HAD ON SITE

Management were very supportive at all times

Workplace culture. everyone has similar work ethics, all aiming to achieve same end resolve

The hardest part was getting relief staff to fill positions as they had a different work culture

The most enjoyable part of my job was interacting with different cultured staff and learning from each other

I wish i could say that the compass group was an exelent place to work for but that would not be entirely honest. They are still keeping us employed during such times as these though. Even if they are coercive, manipulating and cruel. The  money they pay you is a pitance of what they receive from who they employ you to cook and clean up after.  Overall not highly recommended.

ESS, as part of the international Compass Group, operated a highly successful Australia wide operation.

It specialised in remote resource site catering, cleaning, security and facility management services, and metropolitan facility catering services.

It was led by a strong CEO and managed by a very capable team of managers.

ESS emphasised safety, indigenous employment and apprentice training.

We worked long hours, including weekends.
Learnt how to cover all aspects of running a site.
I was the manager, our state managers visited us two times a year.
Sometimes this was difficult.
Getting all workers to do what their job title required of them.
Communication back then was probably the most difficult part.
When we won the contract back for the company.

I really enjoyed working with the Company, at times its hard but we all manage to work together to get through it, most importantly team work. The life style is different, full on but I love it I am now in the Casual pool resigned from my full time position and I have been with the Company for 8 & a half years, so I would definitely recommend a friend.
