I had a lot of fun working at ECU. Most of the staff were great and dedicated to their jobs. Unfortunately there were a couple of negatives. The first was that for three years I was on revolving contracts, never knowing if I was going to be renewed until the last two weeks. Its a disgusting way to treat your loyal staff IMO. Secondly the management in my department seemed to make decisions without consulting their staff and if you point out the obvious flaws in their ideas they get offended. This was a few years ago now so maybe things have changed, but I doubt it.

Since I have been employed at ECU I have learned a great deal about a complete different work ethos and strategy to the previous employer. It has been extremely taxing at times but I have come out a much richer and experienced person in the new role on contract basis. The hardest part is being secluded on another campus. Especially in the beginning of my contract when I had no one to turn to for advice and support. When I do get the opportunity to network with my co-workers I gather such valuable information and the much needed support.

Typical day:-
* Collecting exam papers and student roll from designated area and setting up room for examinations
* Following all the rules for examination conditions and being vigilant that all the University standards are upheld.
* Always showing respect and care for colleagues and students alike during this stressful examination time
* Collecting, collating and returning papers to designated ECU staff.
* Being prepared to assist with students with special needs to fulfill 
their needs to complete their examination in the time allotted.

I had the opportunity to work at ECU, and it was truly an amazing experience. The staff members were incredibly friendly, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The management team was also highly supportive, providing guidance and assistance whenever needed. The work environment was pleasant and conducive to productivity, fostering a positive culture within the organisation. Overall, I had a wonderful time working here and would highly recommend this company to anyone seeking a supportive and friendly workplace.

A day at ECU would depend on whether or not there any prospective students events happening or not. Work could be at either campus, Joondalup or Mount Lawley.

Typically the day would start with logging into the phone systems and emails, ready to answer customer inquires, which would be the number one priority through the day.

If there was an event happening (either on campus or off campus) it would need to be ensured that relevant materials were packed and ready to go.

I am happy to get employed at ECU. It has been great pleasure to work with students coming from different backgrounds. Students dhow lots of interest in gaining knowledge and use every opportunity to enhance their capabilities in the field of their specialisation. University provides unique facilities in terms of teaching and world class laboratories. 

3 hour lectures, with great technology, in a program that you can see change student's lives from Day 1 of semester to the time they walk out of class at the end of semester, makes this almost a dream job!

Working for Edith Cowan University was a great way to add work experience to my resume but also an amazing way to network.
My job description was clear, I knew exactly what was expected of me. The ECU staffs were present and supportive. Overall it was a  positive work experience. I will definitely work for ECU again if the opportunity presents itself.

Review of previous shift. Check e-mails, SMS', logged phone calls. Check bookings. Foot Patrols. Liaising with stakeholders. Responding to phone calls requests. 
Talking to Staff, Students guests and generally helping people.
Good 'clean' environment.

ECU needs to invest in quality academic staff to enhance its reputation. Unfortunately, most of the staff, although, hard-working- are not qualified academics. For example, the Dean of one particular school does not even have a PhD so this person's underlings are actually more qualified than she!
