Starting off learning where everything is, how to use the registers, all the codes for the products that doesn’t scan and how to stock the shelves. Seems pretty basic. 

The highest pay for a casual is $24.95 an hour, despite being so expensive for the company, you only get one or two short shifts a week. 

The company doesn’t like keeping casuals that been there for a long time, so instead they don’t tell the casuals that they have been sacked by not letting them have any shifts at all. The job is only good if you’re getting new experience in retail. 

Downside is that the company has gone through so many managers. Can’t handle the stress of working there.

It was a quiet job, but had its rush periods as well. Typical day of work was generally just packing and re-stocking the shelves and serving customers. I learned how to operate a register and pricing guns. Management was a little "scattered". It was a new business and I don't think they had the hang of management yet, but it wasn't overly terrible. I got along fine with my co-workers, we had a job to do and we got it done. The hardest part at the time, was probably re organizing the rails and shelves once they were already up. Most enjoyable part was early starts and finishes.

had an alright time working at dollars & sense, only downside was having to put up with upset customers but thats a part of the retail industry, a typical day at work was opening the shop serving customers, cash & eftpos handling, stock rotation and the closing of the shop, honestly the most enjoyable part of the job was all of it, none of it was too special, none of it was horrible it was all quite mediocre but again thats the retail industry, the only culture at dollars & sense was the culture of taking pride in your work and workplace.

a typical day at work was opening shop and being on registers we had a couple angry customers a day but we always resolved their problem. 
i learnt basic retail skills and how to do change floats and stacking shelves. i also learnt how to train workers on floor and registers
management was lovely she was always helpful and a delight to work  with, she always made work fun.
my co-workers were easy to train and work with, they always found a way to make the day fly by.
the hardest part of the job as stacking shelves due to injuries i have with my back and knees.
the most enjoyble part of working there was meeting new people.

A typical day work would include stocking shelves, taking out rubbish (a lot of cardboard) and interacting with customers. I learnt organisational skills and improved my customer service. management was ok. 
There were no especially hard parts but if i had to choose the hardest park of this job would be dealing with upset customers and disgruntle workers. keep in mid this did not happen often. 
The most enjoyable part of the job was the little bit of peace that i found there ie stocking shelves, keeping the mid busy

A typical day at work for my consisted of opening the store, operating the register, general cleaning, greeting and helping customers. 

I learned a lot about customer service as this was my very first job. 

The management was friendly and supportive.

The co workers where happy and nice to be around.

The hardest part of my job was taking out the recycle bin as it was a very large bin and I am a very small girl.

A typical day at dollars and sense is learning different skills in the retail workforce. Each day was something different and I would always learn. I learnt how to up sale, how to do registers in a retail store. Hardest part of the job when it became Christmas time and the store would get really busy you have to manage a lot of things, between your life out side of work just as much as inside. The most enjoyable is people about to learn a lot throughout the time I worked there and now when getting a job again its easier to pick up on a lot of things.

Start the morning with putting out merchandise and large items of sales out the front of store, stacking shelves and making sure everything on the shelves are organised, price checks on all items, handling money and customer service. Management was great got along well with worked sell in a team environment. Enjoyable part of my job was working with the team members and having a good work environment.

Workload was very challenging, however interesting.  Meeting diversity of staff and people in general.  
Happy and Friendly environment and atmosphere at the workplace.  Fast pase of work, very demanding in the overall operations of the store.  Management was very helping with any inquiries and dealt with it to the best of their ability, at any point of time and day.
Well known company and runned exceptionally well across the board.

After having 3 wks setting up a new store, it appears all staff were underpaid , some took a couple of wks to be paid , and ripped us all off for meals breaks re paid lunches etc. We all busted ourselves with 8-10 hour days and we would all appreciate being paid properly . It doesn't seem like to much to ask...just interested  in juniors once opened , no interest in fixing  problems.
