A very bad experience for me working with this Company, I would NOT ever recommend anyone to work with this Company unless they were from New Zealand. I found my work colleague to be intimidating, not wanting to share computer skills relating to the work involved. She ate the clients food for dinner, even though I told her, it was not allowed. I had to pay for keys cut because SHE accidentally closed the door to staff room with the house keys in it, and blamed me, therefore I had to pay for a locksmith call out. I had to take the responsibility for other carers (if you could call them that) mistakes and spent hours at Logan Hospital tending to my client. I spent many kilometers and petrol regarding finding the client due to her  mental condition and obsession.
I did not get any help though -coordinators when I needed the. Only one, were brilliant and he spent time talking me through me placing my client into a psychiatric ward at 2.30am. He was the only one that I could rely on.
Apart from that, I would not recommend anyone for that job unless they were Islanders or from New Zealand. The fact that they are large and (as the owners of the Company said) " Gentle Intimidation".  What client needs to be Intimidated !!!!. 
Clients with a mental disability need to be reassured that they are in a safe place and a loving, nurturing environment  for them to learn and experience a home that they can be comfortable in. NOT to be bullied .

For the record. I do not have any racial discrimination regarding New Zealand's, as I have  and worked with wonderful people in the past and found them to be wonderful people and visited their wonderful country many times.

good if your big, hard clients.
challenging and can hit the staff and damage propperty. cleints try to mess with your head and not an easy job. 
work day is report incidence, looking for runway clients, cleaning up there mess, cooking, doctors, working with emergency servcies.
be ready for anything, can be full on work.
work culture ha. staff work at a house and not much manager involvement so left to care workers to work out. old style reporting with a fax and writing everything. no work vehicle, use own car and pay for all fuel, no salary sacrafice no bonuss for good work. good part is $ are ok if you can get a client with lots of hours but bad side is client with lots will be full on and shift is hard. bad side is no job security and we are just casuel so work can end like that. and might get no work for weeks. good temp job if yiu can stand it

This type of work suits me fine being single. This gives me the opportunity to only concentrate on the people who are within my care with no outside influences of normal family couples. Preparing and researching further on what may occur or to expect helps in your decision-making when looking after clients with multiple disorders. Understanding the company policies ( not interpreting) and filling out the paperwork correctly makes your job easier and replying back to emails with management and outside agencies is just common courtesy along with having a good group of people whose interests are the same.

The company pays well. The 7 day Roster is attractive and offers a good work life balance. There is a massive issue with Staff turnover at all levels. Direct Care Resources will burn staff that question decisions or raise valid concerns. The workplace is toxic with many Support Workers choosing to remain silent and not raise their hands when they observe discrepancies. Direct Care Resources actively utilized “quiet firing” and will simply cease providing shifts which results in Support Workers leaving. There has been and continues to be serious assaults against Support Workers from Clients which always results in Support Workers being moved on.  Direct Care C are sources is rotten from the top down. 

DCR will provide care staff, but they will not be trained and most will not have disability experience despite what they tell you. 
DCR have not employed enough staff to provide consistent care. 
They will promise you a standard they cannot deliver.
If families have concerns about care being provided, you will not hear back from management for a long time, if at all. 
In theory they have strict processes and standards for staff, however this is not followed. 
Staff overstep boundaries with clients and do not follow confidentiality legislation. 
I have been involved with many companies and would have to say that DCR are the worst disability care provider in Queensland.

Head office - some were absolutely amazing, and supported you, others well some case managers had zero empathy, respect, patience and even lacked experience in the industry. 

Week on week off was great for my own personal lifestyle however mentally; the work drained you after a year. There was a high staff burn out. 

There was quite a lot of bullying and intimidation by staff to fellow colleagues. 

Working both disability and the residential side with child safety, you realize that DCR is about getting people into houses. 

There was online training but no face to face 

One owner of this company will tell you outright in training you are so well paid "you should be grateful" to have this job. He will humilliate you in front of a room full of other staff....not me but observed  this. No praise ever offered but a ton of criticism for even the slightest error or oversight notwithstanding the inconsistent training or complete lack thereof. Performance is arbitrary andthey don't like you you are

Good pay if you can stay away from your family. I guess if we work 24hr for a week, we may earn more than this. No milage were paid and in a week shift I drove 600km which was not paid because $35p.h included everything. After a first shift, I was out of work for a month. They will text you the shift details, if we don't reply within 10min then your are our of work for 2 weeks. 

Dealing with challenging behaviours taught me how to handle difficult situations effectively through communication & staying calm under pressure. I was supported in my role as a direct care worker from other staff & management. The hardest part of the job was dealing with violent & abusive clients. The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to assist each client to find fulfillment and happiness in their life.

This company would have to be the worst company I've ever worked with the clients can be difficult but they have beautiful souls poor work ethics no support for workers they allow workers to bully other workers by lying and fabricating things getting you pulled from your position even though the allegations are proven to be unsubstantiated.

1 flat pay rate from 6am - 10pm no overtime pay
