What is the best part of working at the company?
Working in the classroom with the students. Teachers DO make a difference!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The bureaucratic BS with the Dept of Education
Cannot understand WHY NESA and Dept of Education cannot be the same body!
Do not understand what the ‘Director’ level of Management in the Dept of Education does!  Have never been helpful in my experience and do not interact at Teacher or Head Teacher level. 
The ridiculous amount of admin and paperwork! This takes us away from our Core business of teaching and being in the classroom!
 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
In my experience it started as very collegial, friendly and staff socialised 
Now - it’s very toxic 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Start the day early in preparation for what’s ahead. 
Teaching for a few hours in the day, managing behaviour of students all day for my own classes as well as colleagues classes. 
After school time is spent going back over the day to make sure all is done - including phone calls home and writing reports on student behaviour, then preparing work for  the next day. 

Then on other days there might be afternoon meetings or parent teacher evenings or performance evenings or information evenings

Don't do it....just don't. Students who have zero attention span and barely any respect for you is just the start. The whole system needs an overhaul. Teachers are as overworked as I've ever seen them in my 40 years as a teacher in the state system. They are trying, but the amount of red tape and reporting on meaningless values is just soul destroying.  Don't teach a minor specialist subject either or be a relief teacher...heaven help you. Find a different job....this one will destroy your sanity

Work life ve and assisting students to acheive the best outcome to ther ability in learning 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
All good.  Work availability sometimes not available.

Excellent working environment pleasant, nature clean and comfortable 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Work is how you make it. Look at each day as a positive one.

You can be on their system for years at a time before a job offer comes up. They are slow to give teaching authorities to do TRT. You can wait up to 6 months. They don't pay contract teachers holidays. Nepotism is rife and the most qualified person for a teaching position is unlikelly to get it when an unqualified person or new graduate can be paid half as much. It's what happens when education becames a business. It's about bums on seats and being present, rather than any teaching or learning, a glorified child care or baby sitting service.

Technical issues that could impact your customers and overall NSW

Productive and positive it and clearly understood

Staff working in an Independent school is nothing  how it was,  basically  like any business  now,  no security  of job. Therefore  lots of stress attaining  continual social workplace and  learning new courses after hours.

Heads of Departments that I have experienced have left a lot to be desired.
Some fellow teachers are spiteful and unhelpful and keen to see other teachers fall. Small minded.
However most teachers are helpful and willing to help. It’s a question of avoiding the small minded unhelpful teachers.
The fixed term system DET operates is also insecure.

Friendly workplace with opportunities for advancement in the field if interested. Being a small country town, i had the opportunity to get to know the families of the students i worked with which gave me a greater understanding of these students and how best to meet their needs.

Working with educators was pleasant.The persistent changes in educators of subjects was a hindrance to productivity as bad people would have to be retrained and there were only few of us to traind and monitor the progress of curriculum delivery.

I found that working for the NSW department of education was great environment to work and learn from. There was so many different skills and roles on display to enquire and soak up creativity from. I would have like to have stayed but decided to come back to England and give London a good go.
