The salary offered could never make up for the lack of training, nepotism and downward envy from people who have been in positions they are not qualified for too long. 

The turnover of staff should be seen as an indicator of performance of management, not the staff they supposedly look after (when they are not too busy at the tennis, on the boards of companies and "working from home"). 

If you want to sit around earning too much money to prove that you can take a two hour lunch or reduce the new recruits to tears by assigning tasks without support, this is the perfect job for you. If you want to actually do your job, up skill and work as a team, keep walking because despite policy and guidelines that say you will be doing these things you'll be too busy pulling knives out of your back (and front) to do your job. 

Don't expect to be rewarded for experience because that is threatening to the stuffy arrogant seasoned bullies who will use it to make you look like a know it all or segregate you until you question your abilities and don't expect your executive management to have any qualifications appropriate for the job they get paid for or have any issues dealt with by HR (have a look at how many lawyers work for HR, that'll tell you how much money they spend protecting the vile culture that is as accepted as the "casual racism" and high turnover). 

Apart from that, it's a beautiful place to work if you ignore the previous statements...

Working as a Community Corrections Officer has it's ups and downs.
I enjoy the client facing aspect of the role, and my favourite part about this role is the difference I have been able to make for people who are in the wrong path of life when they are given their orders. I enjoy watching the change in the clients and seeing the development with their situations, lives, and the progression of their orders.
The most difficult part of the role would be handling clients who do not believe they are meant to be on an order and protest any attempts to assist them.
The people I work with are wonderful and friendly, despite the high levels of stress that comes with a role such as this. The entire office makes it easy to learn and feel comfortable to ask any questions.
A typical day would involve scheduling appointments for client supervision and reporting, a lot of e-mailing correspondence with various business units and health care professionals, meeting client needs where possible and seeing clients for various reasons, among other tasks.

BEWARE! The smoothly written job ad will give you a warm and fuzzy feeling that you will make a difference and your work will have meaning. The reality will be that you will be under constant immense pressure and stress to achieve targets and outcomes for management, not the clients. Your focus will be 'stats' to achieve 'funding'... If you have gone to the trouble to educate yourself for a career in this field, don't waste your time with this department. It's a job that promises a lot but delivers nothing. The huge turnover of staff is an obvious giveaway. The culture is terrible and falls well short of the stated values of honesty, respect and integrity, particularly from management and head office. I don't recommend at all...

Nothing at all , maybe going home for the day 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Exclusion and lack of transparency in the workplace especially within the Tobacco licensing department . There's a high turnover because of the lack of opportunities with at least 2 ppl leaving a month.  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The culture is very toxic and competitive. Managers will want you competing for the roles with your colleagues and there is a clear lack of transparency. Managers play favourites and dont hide it

Boring admin work, data entry and calls

The team leaders were very judgemental and misinterpreted what I had said. Some team members were unprofessional to the point that they made sure you didn't get an extention on your contract.

Meeting and assisting people exiting the criminal justice system.

Very cliquey! It was hard to make connections with the people working there. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Data entry. Answering phones. Greeting parolees. Filing.

DJSC is a great place to work but it's in a state of flux and the vision is not clear. It's a work in progress and I expect to see a much better workplace by the end of 2019. 
There's significant lack of resources in training and ensuring staff development outside of internal training mechanism. There's a lot of autonomy in higher VPS roles but also a lack of guidance or mentorship from executives or senior management. 
Overall it's a great place to work if you land on a good project but that's not always guaranteed

Commitment to interaction and interpersonal skills staff and clients .

Lower staff level due health safety compensation.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Unsafe due lack of training resulting in lack people skill management overall consistent with current mental health issues .

Insecure unsafe at times . Due to low staff levels ,

Too many casualisation of positions even though this is a public service entity that should be setting example for private companies. 
Short term contracts means that you are constantly stressed psychologically due to job insecurity. 

Have spent previous two and a half years working in the Stores & Records wing of the Barwon Prison being a maximum security correctional facility.  My position as a VPS2 employee offers little in the way of professional development and advancement.  The work I performed in this role was onerous, labour intensive and not appropriately rewarded in respect of salary and conditions

Job description of a Supervisor has changed over the last few years due to reforms ie Parole Board decisions after high profile media cases. Youth Justice also playing a large role in this and the high amount of Remandee's and Protection Prisoners incaserated.  Due to this so many incidents of Self Harm, suicide, assault not just prisoner on prisoner but statt assaults also.
