I worked in this government role for five years. I really appreciated the structure - the clear expectations, time frames and processes.
My working day tended to be quite structured unless a project needed to be prioritised.

Reports were run, filtered and responded to on a weekly basis. Some of these reports were finance based and some were project/work order progress based (for managing work flow). Ongoing communication with supervisors, managers and the director was essential to the business unit running smoothly and for projects to run on time and within budget.I am now highly proficient in Excel spread sheeting and very confident in filtering and deciphering information from financial reports. My communication skills and my ability to train and mentor staff has also improved immensely.
Other duties included meeting planning and minute taking, responding to emails (clients and internal) and maintenance of a complex archiving system.

The hardest part of the job in the last twelve months was the drop in morale due to the downsizing of staff. The loss of staff was a result of the change of government in Queensland at the last election.
The most enjoyable part of the job was the camaraderie and support from management and co-workers. A happy and friendly environment that made the working day much easier and more productive.

A typical day at work consisted of travel to site, carry out visual inspections of building condition, enter findings into tablet p/c.

In this type of work one is largely self managed, the main contact with management being to review the programme in hand.

The workplace culture in general was one of a team with almost all work being carried out in the field in teams 2  with little office contact.

The most difficult part of the job is keeping track of the often changing requirements of the client with regards to the report content.

The most enjoyable part of the job is the fact that it is essensually field based and therefore offers variety and travel to many different areas.

Satisfying and rewarding. Being able to open doors for people and families in need, sometimes assisting families and people who have been affected by Domestic Violence. Helping individuals who are homeless or from low income families and circumstances.

small team. learnt new computer programs. management was encouraging, helpful and friendly. great team of people. hardest part of the job was abuse from clients, never anything that wasn't manageable. great sense of accomplishment on a daily basis, problem solving, working as a team and individually.

If you enjoy writing report after report for no apparent reason and correcting poor standard documentation then this is the place for you.

The client base is other Govt entities, so chaos is king.

Over all demands of position and extra work load increases with a sometimes toxic work environment with the lack of opportunity to become a permanent staff member is the key reasons for me leaving.

Colleagues in the team made going to work more enjoyable and smoother for me as there were days when calls were coming through non-stop so we would all make sure we were helping each other out daily.

* Every day was different and it provided new challenges. 
* I learnt so much about myself and the people around me. 
* We had a strong management team. 
* We had a great culture in the fact that we all looked out for each other and to me that was very important.

They care that you provide 100% always but HR don't really care about your concerns. As long as the work place isn't effected. If you have disabled family members don't expect any consideration other than using all leave options.

Work changes on a daily basis which is rewarding but challenging. Management are respected individuals who accept and work towards positive team and workplace culture.
