Employed by Dell to deliver technical pre-sales consultation and develop solutions for end to end data centre technology and professional services. Encompassing Dell’s Compute/Networking and Storage portfolio; including enterprise Backup / Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity as well as enterprise Storage and Server Virtualization solutions.

My role has contributed to Dell’s increase in market share in the enterprise space via the following key activities:

• Partnered with clients to identify technical requirements across servers, storage, software and services. Liaised with technical and business managers as well as extensively with C Level Executives to understand technical needs.

• Proposed products and solutions to meet client’s requirements. Worked with technical specialists to define how the solution met business needs and developed the benefit statements accordingly.

• Led the negotiation of sales opportunities with clients. Worked to understand constraints in client’s accounts and negotiated sales that provided financial and technical benefits. Clearly articulated the ROI of all solutions.

• Oversaw and managed technical implementation projects on behalf of Dell. Contributed to the project scoping and planning phases, including resource allocation and task identification.

• Contributed to and led the negotiation of tender responses and proposals. Personally engaged with clients to articulate tender responses during final negotiation stages then led the final contract engagement for successful proposals.

• Worked with internal business managers to improve the reputation of Dell and engagement with clients. Managed customer complaints to minimise risk to the business whilst retaining positive client relationships.

• Facilitated extensive market and competitor reviews to identify new business opportunities whilst remaining abreast of competitor engagement within the market. Developed individual proposals to ensure Dell remains competitive.

What is the best part of working at the company?
100% remote working which makes a lot of sense when most people I was working with are in different countries/time zones!  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
never lived up to the published company values, perhaps in the US it does but not in AsiaPac.  In my last few months had a new manager who had zero people skills and would not listen to you.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Had little contact with people outside of my team (other than customers) but was supportive within the team.  Management focus 100% on revenue generation rather than doing a quality job.  Process and procedure would be overlooked if it impacted delivering revenue.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Frantic, never enough time to do a job as thoroughly as you would like.  Always an expectation you would work additional hours.

I delivered storage related training to our customers and partners from Seoul Korea to Wellington NZ and all points in between. I worked with curriculum program writers to ensure content was correct. When i was not delivering training, I would work with our installation engineers to help install the product at the customers location to help maintain this more intimate knowledge of the products that i was delivering the training for.
Delivering information to a class and interfacing with the people was my favorite part of the position.

Although the pay, benefits & work life balance are above average there was little opportunity for advancement. I received numerous awards, pay raises, one off bonus etc for going above and beyond but was never able to advance. Most movement is lateral within the company and mid-level roles are often filled from outside. When looking for ways to cut OPEX years of service, tribal knowledge and commitment were less important and many roles were offshored to save money. Very sad that money and making MORE of it outweighs the human factory.

A typical day at work starts with my coffee. While i stand in the queue to get my coffee i go over the "do list" in mind which is usually:

Preparing a test plan for a new application package
Translating users' requirements in technically doable tasks
Desired configuration management rule...maybe 

My manager is a really good person. He doesn't believe in micro management and let me express myself. This brings the best out in me.

What can i say about my co - workers. they are the amazing to work with. 

The most enjoyable part of my job is when i come up with a workable solution to a very complex problem.

One of the best organization to work with if you have good STORAGE domain knowledge.

Nothing matters besides the numbers, and if need be you'll be thrown under the bus.

I feel valued and supported, especially when you have an issue to solve the team does anything to get the job done and give good customer service at the same time and providing me with the job satisfaction and comfort that i can support my customers as they need.
