Upper management is full of favourites and hiring of friends who are clueless about how to actually run a team. Training was non-existent so had to teach myself pretty much everything. Was never told “good job” or that I was appreciated for learning everything so quickly, was definitely told whenever I made a mistake though…No chance of ever working your way up in the company either. Pay was good for what you do and pretty flexible days but the management was the worst part for me and many others. Always changing and micromanaging things without a clear purpose, massive lack of communication between management and the teams, not to mention the toxic culture of us just being numbers.

Actual work was ok. Typical process for each appointment:  Meet clients at their house, measure up for flooring or window coverings, provide quote on the spot or later if a complex job, perhaps take a deposit, draw up design for factory staff & installer. 4-8 appointments per day depending on locations. Independent solo work.

Toxic culture, state management who are actually clueless about the product and service provided. Friends hiring Friends up top, and HR who is happy to throw you under the bus and not listen, making it always the employees fault, never upper management.  Since recent upper management changes in the culture both nationally and state, have become one of doom and gloom. The company has gone from offering great products and service, to highly discounted products, and not listening to long term experienced staff.

Definitely more of a sales role than a retail role. Commissions are very rewarding if you work hard. Not everyone achieves them but good sales people will hit them consistently.
Typical day at work includes time on the showroom floor interacting with customers as well as some time on the road going to customers houses to measure up and sell flooring/carpet/shutters etc.



I recently joined the company this year and the brand has been making moves to grow in their industry - it is exciting to be a part of these changes and to already see improvements to multiple aspects of the business including work culture. Recently we introduced Birthday Leave which is super fun and we also run amazing sales or goofy competitions with store teams. I have enjoyed my time here and always have a great experience with any manager I talk to. 

Great store for home renovations. Prices vary on all products at a reasonable price. Great selection and good quality. Rugs are very heavy and this job is more suited for men.

DecoRug was able to offer career development which was a big must for me when changing from my previous profession.

The potential to earn amazing commissions above an already decent salary was like the sky is the limit if you are willing and able!

Definitely recommend if you're looking for a change and they can teach you all the skills they need.

I have been working in this company for nearly two years now and all i can say is the skills you learn in this company you wont be able to find it anywhere else. As its the leading business in its industry, you learn, enhance and develop creativity, problem solving and people skills whilst working within the company. It brightens your personality and adds volumes to who you are.

If you like a workplace where no 2 days are the same, then Decorug is the place for you. I have learnt so much about managing customer expectation, and, most importantly my own abilities / strengths that I wasn't really aware of
