I worked at DHL for 4 weeks.  I worked in the administration department doing Data Entry.  I got the job after applying through an agency in which I had to pass 2 interviews and a typing test.  All for a job which paid almost minimal wage and wasn't permanent.

The office itself is massive and there are multiple departments within the office.  I noticed straight away that team morale was low as nobody was allowed to talk with each other, even if all the work was done we were told to sit there silently.

Dinner breaks were timed, toilet breaks were timed, also with the dinner breaks, we had to take them separately, I think they did this as a way of not forming a bond with the people you work with.  The turnover was staff was quite high and people would leave week in week out and then were replaced by new casual staff.

There didn't appear to be much room for career advancement.  You could either be a data entry person or a head data entry person.  I think the fact that even if you did all your work and had to sit there in silence was a bit daft.  Internet usage was also banned along with phones even though the internet was on each computer and wasn't blocked.

I remember in hindsight I should have applied to work in the warehouse at DHL because although they are busy, the team morale appeared to be much higher and the staff looked happier than what we were.


Well I spent almost 14 years at Dhl express working at all sites in Melbourne especially at south east in Mount Waverley and SO SAD to say it’s another one of those companies like most if you ask questions or challenge the management team in any way even after over a decade of service to the company YOU ARE A MARKED TARGET to performance base you out so bad , and being a Christian in that place from the beginning was hard to say the least always picked on for my strong godly beliefs and the worst of all instead of promoting and looking after there workers who have been there a long time even to this day the hire from outside the company fresh people so the management team can control the company even more in a even greater toxic way the place is very very toxic . 

What is the best part of working at the company?
I live close to the office, allowing me to go home for lunch

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I found myself in a position where I believe my skills and strengths were not fully utilised in this role.
Additionally, I felt that the reporting structure did not align well with my working style and professional goals. I believe that a more suitable alignment could enhance both my contributions and overall team dynamics.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It seems that there is a disconnect in workplace relationships.
Exploring ways to strengthen connections and improve job satisfaction could be beneficial for our team.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I find myself rushing to complete tasks due to the significant volume of work assigned. This has made it increasingly difficult to maintain quality and meet deadlines effectively.
Moreover, I have observed a lack of understanding from management regarding the challenges I face in managing this workload.

What is the best part of working at the company?
They say they care but they don’t. They give extra jobs that are not in your contract and don’t pay any extra. . Pays a lot less  than most admin jobs I have seen. 


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When they expect you to cover other warehouse and still expect to do your own warehouses. I feel they expect to much on their employees and that’s  why in the 10 years I have  been with DHL We have lost so many good workers as they found same jobs that pay a lot more than DHL does. . 


What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Most warehouses environment and Culture are not bad. My warehouse which I’ve been in for 6 years are forever loosing Management. As I mentioned they expect to much from them with little pay. Expect them to put work first before family. 


What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressful. They expect you to teach yourself with pretty much everything. Don’t get much training. When you have a query with one of the departments, example accounts, we have no idea who to contact.

Its all about reaching KPI's and not having the tools to reach them. Higher managers from different sectors can not get along even tho its all under the DHL umbrella. Transport dont like operations, retail dont like health care etc. Excessive amount of training which its not even related to your position. Work load is massive and even tho managers see you struggle they will continue to bombard you with more with the expectation to meet deadlines. Work 8 hours at work then another 8 or more from home, plus weekends or even when you are on leave. 
There is some fantastic people there and you will learn a great deal to add to your resume. Very clean ware houses and a great focus on safety which is commendable.

I started as a picker and packer on a ongoing casual position. My work, punctuality, integrity and  dedication to work was noticed by supervisor and manager which fetched me a permanent role in the warehousing company.
Soon I was asked to carry out quality control job and than moved to despatch after I trained 2 people in quality control. Despatch being busiest and long working hour job team member preferred to stay away from it where as I like to stay busy and work accordingly.
Everyday I learned new things about warehousing work, such as to operate long reach, drive electric tugger. My quick learning skill were main key for me to get training and getting forklift and scissor lift Licence.
Me including other bunch of colleague enjoyed playing table tennis during lunch break which was always fun.

DHL is ranked as one of the best employers and it's actually really great. The culture is awesome, there's always lots of fun stuff going on and they really try to lessen the pain of working in a call centre. The salary is pretty decent and there's lots of ways to earn little bonuses. They train you for 6 weeks so that you're really ready for the job when you get out on the floor. They also really promote progression - pretty much everyone in management/higher level roles started at entry level and worked their way up.

I was also going through some mental health struggles while working there and they were incredibly supportive in working with me to find a way to manage it. Ultimately I had to leave anyway but I really appreciated everything they did for me.

Arrive 4:30 am to start work. Forklift duties to start, stage runs for daily driving duties, load van in order of delivery, organise paper work for day. Start deliveries thatr can take me to various destinations around Sydney Metropoliton area and some country areas, deliveries sometimes require security clearances before they can be made. Return to base once deliveries have been done and organise paper work to finish the day. Conflict resolution is a part of my job between customer and head office, customer service is an integral part of my day while representing the company, this is a mobile service representative for DHL. Interaction with my work colleagues is limited as I start early and am on the road from 6am til 2pm. Outside of regular work hours we have many social occasions that give us a chance to talk and enjoy the company.

Working here feels like being stuck in a nightmare with no escape. The management is an absolute disaster—slow, unresponsive, and full of ego-driven power trippers. If you enjoy being treated like a disposable tool, ignored when you raise valid concerns, and watching favorites coast by while you do all the work, then by all means, apply. Otherwise, stay far, far away.

Supervisors don’t lead; they dictate. Managers don’t manage; they manipulate. And if you’re not part of their little inner circle, good luck getting anything but the short end of the stick. Favoritism is blatant, and accountability? Nonexistent.

I probarly would of been there much longer, but unfortunate my job among many others had been sent off shore ..I enjoyed working in accounts as your duties involved in checking accounts name and whom would be liable on paying the bills by Data Entry, and also  mailing, working with Brokers checking that information was correct  on whom to be billing also on a daily base, which also gave me an in site, of more interest in other avenues. I cant really say I had a hard day as every thing had been well organized right from the very beginning of the day. I always liked a fast pace environment as I strive to excel in all my duties to complete on time schedules. I enjoyed my time working there very much.
