A typical day would include:
-Making different drinks to Costa brand standard
-Making sure the store is tidy and hygienic 
-Communicating with co-workers to insure the store runs smoothly
-Serving food
-Serving customers
-Ensuring the customer has a quality experience 
-Keeping track of stock levels (Stock replenishment and Stock rotation)
-Clearing tables
-Loading up dishwasher 
-Being vigilant of what is needed front of house (Milk, Coffee beans, cups, saucers, cutlery)
-Banking the takings from the previous day
-Ensuring change levels in the till is ok

I learnt how to work well within a team. I learnt communication skills, with co-workers and customers, how to deal with irate customers, how to defuse potential situations regarding irate customers. How to work under pressure and how to keep calm and collected during hectic days. I also learnt the importance of having an eye for detail and keeping aware of what needed doing, when and where. 

I had brilliant co-workers, that made me feel welcome and there was a definite sense of camaraderie. We worked well as a team and followed the rules, yet all still upheld our own characters.   

My manager at Costa well definitely a good choice, and well suited for the store. The manager was fair and treated everybody equally. The manager was strict when needed and relaxed when it was ok to be.  

The hardest part of the job was the ratio of customers to staff members. The volume of customers could really take you by surprise at times, however with quick thinking and working well as a team, we would always get through it.

The most enjoyable part of the job was meeting different people. When the store was quiet enough it was brilliant creating relationships with customers. It would enhance the customers experience, whilst also building a loyalty to the store.

When i started in Costa Coffee in 2015, it was a decent place to work. I got great training, we had a solid 6-8 people on shift every day, plenty of time to get everything done and make sure every customer was satisfied. When I left in 2023, it had been a long and steady decline. New staff members are just thrown in and expected to pick up the pace, which is now impossible to cope with. With barely 3-4 people on shift each day, staff has to cut corners all the time just to be able to leave at the end of the day, and are still not able to meet the impossible amount of tasks to be done daily. They want you to upsell syrups and extras like the special roast to everyone even tho a basic latte is already over £3 and it feels horrible to harrass your customers like that when you know they won't buy it. Every customer feels like a obstacle in your way to get your next task done, which is the exact opposite of what customer service should be! All my best coworkers have since left too, lots of regulars stopped coming after one too many price hikes, and the few I still run into after having left tell me it's not the same anymore and they don't go as often as they used to. 

There is a person in Management who caused people to go on 'stress' leave due to this persons 'Bully' tactics. Higher management was/is informed and still to this day nothing has been done to correct this problem. Your company asks for a review from me, which I personally find in appropriate at this stage in time. In all my 45yrs of work experience I have NEVER come across a more horrific situation that in appropriate behaviour is still to this day being let carried out. This is why I am seeking work elsewhere. The workers that I employed this season worked under daily stress awaiting this other Manager to interfere, and I being only casual and a Assistant Manager.

DO NOT WORK HERE been the worst 2 months of my life the drama is soul destroying always a new thing being spread no breaks not even aloud a coffee toilet breaks timed manager is so slow new but so slow wouldn’t even want my worst enjme working here it has been soul destroying 4 supervisors 2 staff as to date there is more than half the staff leaving because it is that awful HR don’t help either also if you clock out at 58 the time does back to 45 and you won’t be payed can’t leave till 8pm even though everything is done by 7:15 latest 

Was a good experience for me as I didn’t have experience when I’ve started to work there 2y ago. I’ve learned a lot of things and I met a lots of nice people, which I am grateful for. As everywhere you can meet rude people or who’s doing you wrong, I also did so but I kept going. I had a good team and I’ve enjoyed my time there. However because the brunch I was working for it’s a franchise, the rules was a bit too much and the way that the general manager was treating us was inappropriate I choose to change job. 

Very disappointing workplace, Management is a significant problem and a massive turnover of employees and staff is the result.
Wages are set by EBA and are only average, but have a 2.5% increase every year. Unfortunately all jobs are full time casual and very low chance of becoming permanent employee. 
Jobs are generally very repetitive and require working in the elements.

What is the best part of working at the company?
They're everywhere and pay isn't bad.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Always short staff. No help from other stores. Upper management makes it too hard on staff. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very Busy environment and culture

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressful. Too much demand and not enough care about feelings of people.

Good workplace but could be better if it fun and motivating activities are implimented.

I learned alot while working at Costa, great people most of the time who really take a care in their staff and ask how they feel and try their best to get them where they need to be.

Was responsible for all domestic orders the leave out sheds, fresh produce, resposible for all domestic invoicing.

The passion the company has for the business.

Wouldn’t recommend. Poor management, lack of knowledge in HMRC laws, little to no support, extremely unprofessional, no structure, stressful work environment made by management team when it’s literally just coffee and cake, no support with customers, staff morale very low. Customers and non management team members of staff are the only cons.
