Cornetts IGA

Very frustrating to work for Cornetts. Vital store equipment was old and continually breaking down, being replaced with  old or already damaged equipment .Total lack of ongoing  training at store level, especially in the use of NAV . Company persistence in using NAV system which was continually failing and not adapted to a Supermarket type operations - especially in orders and stock replenishment. Too many "higher" Managers at head office who were totally out of touch with the operations at store level. Very ex-clusive work environment and culture. No set store procedures or continuity  throughout the business- certain store Managers could operate how they felt they wanted to. Total micro management by head office in other areas. Area Manager always complaining about his" number of phone calls ", rather than focusing on training and positively advising and assisting store Managers and Teams and operations when on store visits.

A typical day at work would consist of answering phone calls and paging across the store if in express lane, as well as re stocking the cigarette cabinet. Serving customers with a polite greeting as well as asking how their day has been going as well as providing any assistance they may require. 
I have gained very high service skills and learnt how to operate a till and EFPOS machine effectively. 
My co-workers were always very bubbly, asking how I was at the start of a shift and were always very understanding when it came to illness etc.
The hardest part of the job would have been the rare few customers that treated me rudely, though I always kept a positive attitude and would brush of any harsh comments.
The most enjoyable part of the job is definitely being able to interact with customers. You meet some lovely and unique people when working in such a workplace.

I would go to work for three hours a day after school at night and work here stacking shelves, the dairy section, helped customers find what they needed and on the rare occasion working at the checkouts. I learned that I was able to stand up for three hours straight to stack shelves and help customers. The Management were always on our tails making sure everything was done properly and in order for the next morning. The co-workers were very clam and enjoyable to work with even though they barked orders like crazy they were fun to be around. the hardest part of the job was standing up for more than 3 hours a day on weekends. Working with my interesting co-workers was the most enjoyable especially and fresh stock days.

A typical day at work was hard, yet enjoyable and a little terrifying. 
The other workers where older women who did not make me feel comfortable at all. 
I learnt a lot about what is required to run a supermarket. I learnt how to properly stack items on the shelves, how to treat customers, and how to sign in and out of work. 
The management was full of nice people. 
My co-workers where older women. They where not very pleasant and made me feel very unwelcome.
The hardest part of the job was carrying the boxes out to the shelves as they where very heavy and sometimes I would have boxes thrown at me. 
The most enjoyable part of the job was getting in the groove of putting things on the shelf and just working.  

I would start the day by counting and banking the day before takings, I would then get out on the floor and cap and present the isle's i was designated. while i was doing that i was available for customer service. I would then fill in for the deli staff so they could have there lunch breaks, I would then proceed back to the office and process the invoices and accounts ready for the mail bag.
I enjoyed my day as I worked with some great people. 
the hardest part of the job was  disagreeable customers. But generally they would be fine with explanations they were provided with. Management are very fair and family orientated.

Typical Day - When a routine is set in and the day finishes like no other. 
I learnt that working in the retail industry was more fun then i expected. It was serving people to my  heart content. 
Managemant was the best i could ask for ecpecially for my first job. 
Getting along with my co workers was never any troube at al and it was easy to work as a team. 
hardest part about the job was trying to make a customer happy as muchas you could and it still never worked out, no matter if you said sorry for the wait or how polite you were to them. 
The most enjoyable part was serving a customer and they gave nyou a compliment or even just said thank you.

A typical day working at IGA was communicating with customers. Always checking to see if they were satisfied the service they have received. Working at IGA i learnt how to deal with difficult customers, for example them not wanting to pay for something or arguing about whose getting in line first. The management was always polite and made sure each cashier knew what they were suppose to do. I got a long with my co-workers easy, i can easily communicate with them. Each was able to help me out and i would help them out when needed. The most enjoyable part of the job was when a customer gave me a compliment.

a typical day at work starts with counting your till and then placing a draw and heading down an aisle to pack i have learned the communication between a customer and service person is real important management do everything to keep their customers and employees happy my co-workers are great easy to get along with the hardest part of my job would be when i have a customer complaint and do my best to resolve it and the customer walks away not smiling the most enjoyable part of my job is when the customer walks away smiling you know you have done your job properly

Every day at work was something to look forward to. i have learned alot working for this company and have really been able to work on my customer service skills, the management in this store is great and they make you feel comfortable to talk to them if you have an issue.My co-workers are great very welcoming and willing to help you and guide if you need it is a very supported team. the hardest part of the job would be knowing my job was not 100% secure, the pare of the job i like the most is the relaxed and strait forward atmosphere you always know where you stand.

The job the is mentally, physically and emotionally draining.  Management do not take any complaints or concerns seriously (even if they are justified) and treat you poorly if you do complain.  Most managers treat their staff (and customers behind their back) like rubbish and worthless.  They shoves their head on the sand and does not resolve or assist any members of staff.   Head office are no better.  Avoid!
