Loved the culture "back in the old days" when you knew you worked a long day but it was "one in all in". Once was a team culture where management and the workers were all one. Long gone are those days, in fact the current management would have no clue as too how things were. Current management would no doubt say that the current market environment dictates revenue outcomes. How do you measure lost experience, relationships and product knowledge mixed with know how , people skills and fore site? Coates is suffering on its inability to see through the maze of inexperience and know how of its current middle management and loss of its identity. The business is now so reliant on retail advertising and social media exposure that it has completely lost the plot. It's got what it deserves. This has been a problem within the business since the late zeros's. The only comfort the current executive can take from this is the failings of its opposition caught in a debt crisis of its own self endulgence and lack of foresight also in recent times. What a shame Coates hire has been an intregal part of this undoing of what use to be a great and respected industry. Let's hope in the future as the economy recovers that the executive can look past the immediate future and keep focus on the longer term, not just for Coates hire but for the industry as a whole.

I am a highly motivated worker willing to fulfill a challenging job everyday. As I worked in Coates Hire for 4 years and 7 months I gained a lot of experience specially in doing repairs and troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical side of heavy equipment. I learned how to improve more on safety policy of the company because of training's and meetings that we are doing from time to time. The management are very supportive to us. They gave all the things that we need in our jobs like the licences & tickets. As a I worked everyday I learned also how to work in a big team specially to my co-workers. They are very helpful and friendly to each and everyone of us. One of the very difficult job for me if I really don't know the new machine or equipment in front of me. Every time I encountered these things I just read manuals and ask the person who have knowledge in the machine. The most memorable and enjoyable part of my job when the time that all of us are enjoying our work and you can see that all workers are all smiling even if they are sweating underneath the sun.

Continuous pressure is added to perform and meet SLA and KPIs, changes in work flow as project managers are always changing and trialing new procedures , so on a weekly or daily basis you will be informed that processes have changed. So you have no choice but to adapt on the spot. This was advertised as a digital role and is transitioning to a call centre. 

Be wary of the team leader in the National operational centre and management as they are toxic and fake and will feed you any positivity and support you need to your face but then will talk about it behind your back and the team
Environment and moral goes down from their behaviour. 

They pretend to be happy in their role but they are really miserable. 

The salary was below average and only until people started leaving that they decided to raise it 9 percent. 

Compared to the market it wasn’t even close to what other companies were offering. 

Never a dull moment every day is challenging to the max
Managing the service function of the Major Workshop by ensuring assets are maintained in line with budgetary requirements, OH&S & E regulations, Silver Service and quality guidelines. 
Understanding and working within the maintenance budget requirements. 
Maintaining resources and staff levels in line with maintenance demands and recommending solutions to resource shortage situations. 
Actively planning maintenance and repairs in line with customer demands. 
Planning work and setting goals for specific projects to be achieved. 
Working with Workshop Leadership Team to maximise the level of service provided to all internal and external customers. 
Working with Field Service Co-ordinator to ensure an adequate level of service is provided to all customers and branches. 
This is just some of the daily challenges we face.

They were a great company to work for, very interesting and challenging work.
daily we had to source equipment for people from the man off the street to very large companies, very satisfying when you can get alarge range of big equipment from all parts of Australia for a job in your area.
The management team are a really focussed group and really took an interest in the people.
I have worked with many really nice and interesting people many of whom are still good friends.
The hardest part of the job was having to do all the required courses and inductions for onsite work at the refinery.
I really enjoyed the constant interaction with customers and co-workers from the area and across the country.

Start of the day is opening up the yard and preparing equipment and plant for service or for loading ready for hire.Organising tools and equipment for specific customers and coinciding paperwork.Gained valuable knowledge and experience working with and operating a wide range of tools,machinery,plant equipment.Hired as a fitters assistant/yardman,my job was always challenging and had many positives.Worked with the best bunch of co-workers who still remain friends with today.Hardest part was leaving but i had learned so much in my time with Coates Hire that i was taking on all my skills into the future.

Start the day with a prestart meeting , then bend and stretch warm ups , then a yard safety walk , next would be a safety log book check of your truck then to reception for your daily loads . 
We learnt the safe and proper way to load , unload and use plant and machines . Management cared for you and the company . Culture is Safety and care for Customers . I never found any part of the job  to be hard do the job right and show common sence and safetyand all would be good . the enjoyable part of the job was training  the use of the plant , driving the trucks meeting people and fellow staff .

The people and the variety of the work is the best Ive ever experienced. Everyone is fun, hardworking and caring and every day brings new challenges to break down, new people to meet, new customers to look after and new projects to get involved in. Coates is also a company that is continually trying to be better - diversity, employee work/life balance, better equipment, sustainable solutions, better processes for customers etc. Its refreshing to work for a company and people that are always trying to do the right thing.

The day started with a pre-start, stretches and warm up. 

I learned about equipment as I was exposed to a lot of new tools and plant. 

Management are supportive and friendly. 

Co-workers were hard working, helpful and fun as well. 

Hardest part of the job was managing the hires.  Orders would come in but our service department couldn't keep up with the demand sometimes or tools/plant were already out hired, unable to satisfy customer. 

Best part of the job was driving the forklift and loading equipment onto delivery trucks.

Since being with Coates I have had the opportunity to progress into a Senior Manager position within 2.5 years. 
Coates have a great Women in Leadership program encouraging development as well as a large team of supportive people willing to support and mentor. 
Staff are always happy to help and assist with queries and the people are down to earth. The focus on Continuous Improvement and collaboration means we are always looking for ways to better experiences for clients and employees. 
By far my best place of work to date in my career.
