Continually advertising for staff is always a bad sign. When an organisation does not listen to their staff, poor morale becomes the issue. Staff are not allowed to speak up.  It is what it is. its not a job you can take seriously, as no one takes you serious. Hours are very scattered and you don't get enough.. however they want you to be committed.. It  Looks good on the outside, however start looking in,  it's broken.. Even though we are the front line workers, we are not allowed to know. Seen but not heard. A co ordinator who does not know either her staff or her clients. and Is not willing to get to know you, she's too busy. staff meetings continually cancelled, a hassle if you call... If you dont care about keeping your staff happy  how can you keep your clients happy. if your looking for a career this is not the place. if you want pocket money..well maybe .. management will not go out of there way for you. Asking to staff to start or arrive early for shifts is illegal..starting shifts at 230 and asking you to be on other side if town is impossible. Expecting a lot and adding stress to support workers day. it's about caring about your staff which you lacked a lot of.  

Working with clients was enjoyable and wonderful to see positive changes in their lives and goals reached. 

Company was new to Melbourne so hopefully if it grows and branches out, it improves. 
Management could improve with training to learn effective ways to communicate in the workplace and not isolate workers. 
Upper management biased and unsupportive towards workers needing Support.

Unfortunately not very person centred as clients could not make choices without getting permission from people in higher positions.

Sw are not provided information on clients needs, goals established in Support plans. Hopefully changes have been made here so sw can provide the best Support possible having been given the information needed. 

Company need to work with staff and clients by asking for feedback via surveys etc to help improve services. This will hopefully help with some positive changes.

A typical day at work, is never passing on case notes from the shift before. Not knowing what is broken or working. Staff not on the same page. I learned from this experience that  if we are not all pulling together, it will not work. We could not have our days off, because the rosters changed daily, and we did not know if we were coming or going. Staff very stressed, and burnt out. The best part of the job was getting to know the children, and getting to know them, and to help them the best we could.If you moved forward one day, then it was all worth it.

I started off a trainee doing administration and have now gained full-time employment since finishing my traineeship. The management here have been supportive and excellent with developing my skills in an office environment.
It's fun and relaxing. I enjoy coming to work and being part of a great team making positive changes in the life of people with disabilities.


The SIL house I worked at in Hervey Bay isn’t up to Building Code with the shower water running out into the hall every time the shower is used. Inadequate drainage and constant mopping up. Lots of unpaid hours of work that they expect. Unhappy staff due to totally incompetent management. No communication, punitive punishments if you speak up. Avoid, avoid, avoid. 

Working with clients was good and interesting,  staff morale was low, speak up, lose shifts, young staff unpredictable and let others down regularly and several only do the job because it is easy, .  Conflict high in all areas of organization with encouragement of staff to create unnecessary problems by particular management.  Several staff turn a blind eye to inappropriate actions by coworkers and management don't care.






I have just started my induction at Bundaberg CSS. Day one was very informative, the trainer was very thorough and approachable. It was a professional yet fun, positive learning environment and I am looking forward to my second day of inductions tomorrow. I am very excited about my new role as a Disability Support Worker for CSS 

There is no typical day there is variety in meeting peoples needs.
I learn everyday its why I like this work.
Best thing about working at CSS working with vulnerable people and seeing them grow.
Workplace culture is good.

Company provides vehicles at residences and vehicles when travel to clients is required
Coordinators closely oversee support workers so that standard policies and procedures are followed
Co-workers are coordinated through team leaders
The hardest parts of the job are challenging behaviours from clients
The best part of the job is seeing clients make progress.

This company is unprofessional and unhelpful. 
I found the induction and communication unprofessional and a lot of time wasted. I would not recommend this company to work for when there are so many others. They expect you to be available 24/7 even if only offering you a few shifts.
