Clinical Placement

Starting with worm up session and I felt better. A new client was admitted and we got some instruction regarding taking care of her. The four team went doing morning session and refreshing client.New comer was walking through the nursing home and nobody could not stopped her. But a Greek Language speaker came towards her and spoke to her and spoke the same language, she was a support worker. At last she came down by accompany the worker. The Care Manager known that matter and she scheduled the week roster to that support worker for took care that client.There was an active management and concerned about ongoing matter. This multi- cultural place is good for every people who came new there.Co operation is needed every where but some people were not such minded. It was hard enough did any thing without sharing. Clients felt well and happy and they thanked with a smiley face it was the most enjoyable part.

5 week Clinical Placement in an Australian healthcare facility. Receive assignment in different clinical settings including Medical Ward, Surgical Ward, Short Stay Unit and Emergency Department (ED). Gain firsthand experience in Australia’s health care system; interact and understand the different roles of interdisciplinary health care workers. Familiarize with the documentation in Australian healthcare. Handle 5 to 6 patients with minimal prompting, formulate and implement a care plan & interact with Australian patients. Australian health care system & patient case analysis on a weekly basis. I ’am deemed competent after assessment of competencies by clinical facilitator.

It was an aged care facility where aged people need to be taken care of. The work was so routine, when patients wake up, to let them eat breakfast, render showering, toileting, provide medications.  I have learned that caretakers  should have knowledge, skills, and good attitudes towards old patients. The department management was organized and respectful to each other. The hardest working experience was to manage and intervene when patients have complications related to health conditions. I enjoyed to see patients who are smiling when they are recovered from illness and say gratitude  to me.

It was an interesting and good learning experience. It was a job training during my Nursing student days so it was unpaid. Everyday was different, I have learned various things in the short course of time I have spent with the staffs and in different departments. It is something I would not forget since I would consider it as a foundation of my skills.

Days at clinical posting used to be busy with regular vitals signs monitoring, 1:1 with patients as it was mental hospital. got chance to administered medication and perform other many more procedures. culturally every one in the hospital were accepting in nature toward students.

I loved enjoying all the days i spend doing my clinical placement. It was a new experience for me working in medical sector. Moreover it was such a pleasure and fun working with a team and patient as well.

I only wished that I had become a personal carer many years ago as this is one of the most satisfying jobs anyone can have, even though the pay rate is minimal.

I am currently in my second year at Griffith University, Bachelor in Nursing. It is my desire to gain employment as an AIN in order to continue to put knowledge I have already obtain, into practice whilst continuing to learn.

Educative workplace with good supporting staff. I have developed my communication and clinical skills with the help of the nurses and other staff. Very rewarding experience.
