A typical day at work consisted of serving and helping customers choose between DVD's and upsale to them a promotion of ours. This occurred whilst DVD's were constantly being scanned in for returns, which would be cleaned and replaced onto the shelves. When this was finished (at that particular time), time would be filled in with cleaning, restocking drinks and snacks or doing an inventory on sections provided to us by the manager (for security purposes to ensure all DVD's were there)

I learned to multitask and set priorities before doing small, manageable jobs. I had become comfortable speaking with customers at this point in my life and this was acknowledged by many of my regular customers. I enjoyed this learning process of how people react and learning the characters of some.

Management in store was good. The person in charge was constantly on top of any issues, however, the management above this person was not. Family issues, some legal issues and even faulty tariff (for the energy) were issues constantly brought up by the higher management, leaving the store relatively in pieces. 

Co-workers were great! Always shared a laugh, some disagreed with some but most got along which was superb!

Hardest part of the job would have to be identifying when someone was stealing. The security in the place was very weak. 

As mentioned before, the most enjoyable part would be the serving the customers and discussing movies. I often encouraged others to upsell to the customer, especially if they were regulars.

I really enjoyed working for Civic. A typical day at work was pretty much serving customers as they hired out DVDs, Returning DVDs, placing DVDs back on the shelves in alphabetical order and helping customers but finding or recommending DVDs to watch. There was also a cleaning roster and other small tasks such as making sure that something was playing on he screens at all times, security stickering new DVD cases and creating Ex-Rentals. I learn't a lot about customer service and handling money. My co-workers were all really nice and I had fun working with them. They helped to create a layed back, excepting working environment. I can honestly say that we were a team. While I worked at Civic there were 2 different managers - both were really great and I enjoyed working with them. They always sought the staffs side of the story and delt with situations accordingly. Hardest part of my job was not being able to get more work on the holidays. The most enjoyable part of my job was the people ad the amount of DVDs that I could hire out for free.

All the shifts were 4 hours long, on average I had about 3-4 shifts per week.
I learnt about maintaining high quality customer service, and that the number 1 was of obtaining that is to smile which welcomes customers and shows that you are friendly so they can approach you.
I had been there for 3 years and had learnt to lock up the store at the end of the night, counting the money and organizing the store for the following day.
I loved my co-workers, I got along exceptionally well with all of them, we were always there for each other answering and assisting in questions/problems each of us may have had.
The hardest part of the job was, at first, having the responsibility of locking up the store, but after a couple of weeks it was fine and I felt comfortable.
The most enjoyable part of the job was engaging with the customers, and making them smile; just being positive and them doing the same with me.

I did not leave this job or get fired, my manager/boss was unable to continue paying my rate so I was let go of.

A typical day at work involved continual customer service and staff team work along with delegating jobs out between us, most shifts I would only have a team member for 2hrs and the remainder of the night would just be myself.

The original management was excellent, as were my co-workers, it was always a fun time at work, the kind of job that you looked forward to then the business was sold and along came a whole different side to working.

Hardest part of my job was getting the returns done before clock off.

The most enjoyable part of my job was working with my team members and having fun laid back customers.

I was "let go" of my 3 night shifts with the reason that my position was no longer available - however I was later told the real reason was that the new owner/manager didn't wish to pay a senior rate, weeks after I was let go the manager asked me back for a few shifts with intention of more and then once again was given nothing, so I stopped contacted with him.

A typical day at Civic would be returning the dvd, answering phone calls and serving customers. Every now and then we would do stoke take as well. With the years I have been at Civic i have learned how to use their computer system, I have also become a Supervisor and taken on a lot of responsibilities. The management is good, if ever I have a problem they are easy to sort situations out with. The co-workers are very easy going and i enjoy working with them. The hardest part of the job would be making big decisions when managers arent around but at the end of the day I always make sure I did the right thing. I find that the most enjoyable part is when im working with the 'juniors' because it just makes the day go alot easier. I do still every now and the cover shifts that need to be covered for the managers.

Customer service and customer enquiry resolution are typical for most days.
The increased authority and autonomy afforded in this position motivated me to learn more about my role and my workplace. It also taught me to become comfortable with responsibility and confident when handling customer enquiries/complaints.
Co-workers have been resistant to change, but I have observed an improvement in interpersonal relationships.
The hardest part of the job is handling particularly irate or unreasonable customer complaints.
The most enjoyable part of the job is having the owner's support and trust to resolve issues on my own authority.

a typical day at work involves serving , cleaning movies , shelves and that , vacuming the floor ,stocking food,  doing any jobs that are asked of me or that are on the to do list , locking movies and putting them away. 
i have learnt to speak to people , to use money and eftpos , to work with other staff , to do my jobs with the time i have , to serve , to clean and put things away where they are suppose to be. 
my bosses are very nice and helpful. 
my co-workers have been managers. 
the hardest park of the job is trying to understand what costumers would like. 
the most enjoyable part is working with others , stocking the food , ,cleaning the fridges and serving costumers.

The particular store I worked in for Civic Video was disgusting. The store was filthy, the way the managers treated their customers and staff was horrible and I could not be more happy to leave. My working hours varied between 3-7 each week but I spent at least twice my rostered hours working in the store UNPAID due to being asked to start early or stay back late to help my supervisor who would not tell the manager they asked me to stay and would pressure me into voluntarily staying as though it was my fault that the store got busy as I was about to leave at my rostered time.

Working for George Weber at Civic Video in Kiara is a blessing. On a typical day at work, if there are tasks to do he will communicate this at the beginning of the shift, other than that liaising with customers, debt collection of overdue fees, maintaining store appearance and cataloguing returns. 
I learned a lot of customer service and team work skills at this job.
The management are very clear on your job role within the store. 
The hardest part of this job is occasional conflict resolution or anti theft process i.e. checking bags or denying banned members entrance into the store. 
Every aspect of this job is enjoyable.

Well i love working in a supermarket, love meeting and greeting customers, I'm a happy,bubbley person always smiling. Some of my customer's i serve at spar civic have given me a nickname which is "SMILIEY".
The people i work with are really friendly, easy to get along with, I have learn't alot from working at Spar Civic in Eight Mile Plains etc: Handling money,using their computers,answering telephones,opening and closing the shop.
