I have not worked for an organisation that treats its staff more appallingly. The only people that get ahead in the organisation are those that are happy to be unprofessional and not have any ethical integrity.
The promotion of Christian values and safety could not be further from the truth in what actually happens on the ground.  Managers and Directors and Managers are in positions that they are ill equipped for, nor qualified to do. The culture of this organisation is not only toxic, but life changing negatively. 
Managers are rewarded for treating staff unfairly, and cruelly. The harder you are on staff the more you are rewarded. As long as you agree with the "Executive Leaders" you are more than safe, but if you challenge that you will be forced out.
The worst of all is not one of those managers genuinely care about young people and children, they are driven by other motivation.
Worst NFP organisation to ever work for. 
They are not inclusive and the agenda to address cultural and minority gaps is just for show and there is nothing genuine in any way.

i worked at churches of Christ for 12 years it was the best job I ever had I loved helping and pleasing the residents the staff were great very friendly place to work i sometimes worked 10 hour days with out extra pay but i didnt mind because i loved my job 
we had 4 different managers all great people all treated the staff very well 
 I went off to have some work related surgery 
when I returned  new manager who demoted me on my first day back 
went to HR for help was the worst experience of my life they help no one but Management even have a tape of them backstabbing me when i left the room for 5 mins in a meeting
if you are reading this don't ever ever expect help from HR or head office as they are all will make you feel very bad and don't believe a word of what you say unless you are from head office or Management 
this company has destroyed my faith in Churches  of  Christ  CARE and Christians they cannot care if they can  do these type of things to staff for no reason  it is appalling  


every day a different day, same duties, but something new and enjoyable with the residents each day. 
I have learnt that I'm meant to be in this line of work, as I enjoy and see how people appreciate myself for the smallest of things  I do, as I have worked previously in a Special School and Hospital and have enjoyed all of them.
Management have been there for me with any problem that has come up in the work place.
My co-workers have been very easy and enjoyable to work with, no matter what line of work, everybody has respect for each other, was like one big family.
Hardest part of the job, was when we would loose a resident and being there and seeing the family saddened.
Most enjoyable part of the job would be being a part of the residents and families life and feeling that you have made a difference in their lives.

The cultural needs of First Nations children and young people are denied the right to be heard due to a focus to gain 500 plus general foster carers rather than the recruitment of even gaining 50 kinship carers. All First Nation communities will see an increase of presence without a focus to build relationships rather a focus to gain business for the fostering programs. The reconciliation approach with other First Nation organisations will happen when the management and leadership of the current state manager changes.

Working as part of a team, in a Dementia Care Cottage my responsibility was to ensure the meals where on time, all residents sitting at the dinner table. Assist those that needed help with meals and personal care needs whilst still maintaining their independence.
The most trying part of my day was when their behaviour changed,then the right steps were taken to rectify this.The most enjoyable part of my day was listening to them telling stories of what they had done over their lifetime,singing, playing bingo,watching them read a magazine, participate in activities, seeing their eyes lite up when family and friends came to visit.



Many team members subscribed to the organisational values, and organisational activities were great (e.g. around Christmas time) making it a fulfilling and enjoyable place to work.   Changes in senior management and restructing in Seniors Living space over past few years has brought about discontent and an exodus of staff.  Ego and self-serving nature being accepted at senior management level is causing the organisation to lose what was a unique and positive culture.

The organisation itself is failing in most aspects, however the "Executive leadership" is revoltingly and significantly poor in their performance. Staff are treated like chess pieces.  The organisation lost a number of key "real" leaders and since then the exodus is monumental.

There is no client centered practice nor a sense of understanding of the enormous privilege they have in the communities they work with.  

Bully culture particularly towards lifestyle Therapists. Mostly from RNs (some not all) and Clinical managers but their example filtered down and others followed the example. HR and senior management unhelpful. Saw many lifestyle staff leave. Eventually they gained a very bad rep and recreational therapists stopped answering jobs advertisements. Other support staff were also treated like second class citizens. 

While I love my job it is not well paid and looking to get a better balance of wage to work. 
Learning about aged care has opened my eyes to the future of my parents and myself. 
The differences between residents and the appreciation you get. The satisfaction from a job well done each shift.

After working there for three years I formed beautiful friendships, respect from management  and treasured memories.  Being punctual, reliable, open to training and have a genuine interest and care for staff and residents will make it enjoyable and not a 'job.
