* A Typical day at work:
I worked with ANZ Bank for almost 10 years as a Data Entry, with this job I deal with customers by sending telegraphic transfer overseas. Customer service with this kind of job is extremely important. We can't run a business without customers. We have to be lenient and be very polite. Although, theres a saying that customer is always right but sometimes they are not, to handle this complicated matter is to explain to them the situation and try to control your temper and always smile. A happy customer always comes back. In the office, our co-worker are also considered customers so we should treat each other with respect.
* What you learned:
Dealing  with public is a challenge as we have to deal with their needs and to contribute and encourage open and honest communication with the business.
*Management -
Always be polite with your supervisor and follow the rules.
* Your co-workers-
 I work well in a team environment and I am as well equally adept working on my own. If I am not familiar with the job/system I don't hesitate to ask question to satisfy my curiosity. I am always willing to undertake the necessary training in conjunction with my work. Working in a team is always the best policy in a company.
*the hardest part of the job
Booking telegraphic transfer was really busy and needs accuracy as rates in different countries differs. . This works is under pressure as we have to booked all entries before the cut off time. Since, I am aware that everything was done before cut off time, I have to assure myself to do my best calmly and accurately without panicking. Since, working with a team was always practice in the company, we worked as a team and everything was done before the cut off, that way we are not pressurised. 
*the most enjoyable part of the job:
Is getting the job  well done and get on well with my co-workers.

A typical day at work would start with me checking on any project orders to make sure they had been picked for the technicians.
Place any orders that came in via email or mail.
Take phone orders on the phone during the day and if stock is available charge customers via credit card at the time. 
Alternatively they may have an account which I would then send them an invoice once the goods have been dispatched.
Processing timesheets for the technicians on a weekly basis.
Receiving stock and allocating to outstanding orders.
Filing,  Taking minutes for meetings once a month.

I learnt a bit while I was working there.  How to process time sheets, I also learnt how to process credit card payments online.  I learnt to process export document and arrange transportation, amongst a few.
 
My co workers were great people mostly and we got along very well.

Management were good.  Easy to talk to and approachable.

Hardest part was sometimes time pressures, for example, I'd get an order for a project in the morning or close to lunchtime and they would require the parts for the project in the afternoon / urgently.

Enjoyable part was relaxed work space, great customers, flexibility with hours.

There is no such thing as a typical day working in a security officer role - every day brings new and unique challenges, thus I learned to be self-reliant when necessary but also to work as part of a team. 
Every site has different needs and management is usually a matter of meeting client needs within the framework of the security company's own philosophies and contractual undertakings.
Co-workers come from many backgrounds and have varied skill and intelligence levels so it is necessary to get to know them very well in order to maximise both effectiveness and harmony - sometimes this is the hardest part of the job. However you soon learn that honesty and loyalty are generally far more valuable than high intelligence.
In many ways the most enjoyable part of the job is helping other people whether they be client employees, colleagues, hospital patients, client contractors or the general public - this can be very rewarding indeed.

A Manager who was tasked with "achieving competitive excellence" was put in charge of sales team while having no knowledge of security or sales. For example, they didn't understand the difference between mark-up and margin, and didn't understand basic things about security technology. They created convoluted processes that took too long and were then surprised when the workers took too long to complete the processes, despite workers coming in early and staying late (with no additional pay) to accommodate the work. When the workers brought concerns about work load to the manager, they were flippantly sent a link to a time management article, their concerns were not addressed, and they were blamed for any tasks not completed. The work was undertaken in line with the the manager's instruction, and the workers were then blamed for profit shortfalls. Additionally, the job as described by the recruiters and the General Manager, was significantly different from the actual role.

the company promotes people like management to a level where they can't do any more damage and the people under them are left to pick up the pieces, just look at the current general manager, he is a product sales manager and wouldn't have much of a clue about fire systems, and has never ever been part of installing a fire system. Communication between management and staff doesn't exist but you are expected to be able to read their minds. 

Management don't respond to staff email, they are just ignored. 

The management waste alot of time getting staff to redo things as they don't give any guidance at the start and chubbs prices are way too expensive compared to all the other fire companies. They still try to charge like its the mining boom. They don't care about their customers either.

Customers and staff are just a number.
 

The only good part of the job is the autonomy you have. You are given your work at the start of the month and you decide when to do it. The problem they currently have is there is only around 3 weeks work per technician per month so you will never achieve a bonus. It used to be a great job with great management and supervisors then new management came in and money was king, didn't matter of it was customers or staff who the money was coming from. From what I have heard this is a S/E Qld Chubb problem not nationwide. 
Co-workers are great but unhappy and the company is hemorrhaging customers due to technicians turning up 2-3 months early in some cases. A sad case of one of the greats in decline.

I thoroughly enjoyed working for Chubb Security Services. My role allowed me to be very innovative and creative in addition to the typical expectations and role expected for a Sales Manager. I enjoyed to diversity of dealing with Ceo's, Directors to daily operational staff within my own business aswell as my external clients. 
My role incorporated a range of annual sales targets. The role was very enjoyable and i learned very quickly in this role about the importance of prioritizing and time management.The role came with a lot of expectation and pressure but it was always backed up with support of upper management  which was very important in this role.

My workmates were a pleasure to be with. Unfortunately due to a downturn in the economy, I was made redundant.
Chubb prides itself on being part of an organisation that values ethics highly and this was a big focus of activity.
A typical day for myself consisted of all kinds of different activities. Within an hour or two, I could have ordered a new fleet vehicle, booked flights and accommodation for people and sorted out accounts payable queries.
I also looked after recording of safety information and ordering supplies for the technicians.
My immediate manager was a pleasure to work with.

Being your own boss, deciding what jobs and what area to work in, at times there are jobs that need to be done straight away. But most of the time you get your monthly work on a hand held computer and you choose where and when you do it, as long as you get it done.
Like most jobs you have great people to work with and not so great people, but for the majority of the time you will enjoy it.Management are worried more about figures then there staff and this can lead  to stressful time, loyalty is not a strong point, don't expect to many pats on the back.
