Caring For You Nursing Agency

There is no typical day at work as we are seconded to wherever needed and usually at short notice. In the helping professions there is a lot of down time for permanent staff for many reasons. Often they are not as highly valued as other workplaces, the work is extremely demanding even though it is extremely rewarding. People burn out and do not consider their own self care needs. My co-workers don't really exist but for changeover when a shift starts or finishes. Most permanent staff are extraordinary in their commitment to the clients and many have been employed for 10; 15; 18 years!!! The hardest part of the job is the recognition that there are other stakeholders whose commitment could be questioned. The ethical position of this agency however is fabulous. At no time have I heard mean spirited gossip nor have any of the people I have been involved with from management to other support workers acted unprofessionally. I can only commend a young business (2 years old) for taking the professional stance that they have including the ongoing training and personal support and supervision that they offer to staff.

I was an in home carer while working for Caring for you. I would arrive at the clients house in the morning and I would assist them with their personal care and help them get ready for their day. Clients that had jobs would require me to drive them to their place of business. I would also do sleep over shifts every weekend, which would again, require me assisting them with their personal care needs, then I would help them with their dinner and helping them into bed.

I would clean my clients house, their bedrooms, and a lot of the time, their cars. 

The hardest part of the job, for me, was towards the end of my career at caring for you, I was 8 1/2 month pregnant and performing the tasks that where asked of me became too difficult and put a large strain on my body. That is only natural and unavoidable with pregnant working woman.

The aspect of my career that I enjoyed the most was most definitely leaving the clients house knowing that I made their day a little better and a little easier, and furthermore, the impact I had on my clients and my clients families lives. I was given gifts upon my departure from them and that has left a lasting impact on me and my passion for this line of work.

They are not doing well, ever since new management took over the company about 5 months ago, it has been horrible and depressing to work there.
Massive redundancies, and they keep going still, I have ptsd from coming to work every Monday and have an email from HR waiting for me in the inbox.

People keep handing in their resignations because there is NO STABILITY!
Management constantly pushing people to dress up to work to be shown on social media. 

All C4U cares about is to promote their socials. They completely disregard people’s preference of not to participate in social media for safety concerns.

Employees are not rewarded for good work, no encouragement whatsoever, much less financially, only if you show your face on instagram.

They made SO MANY people redundant and now are hiring again, I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

It is very sad to see all internal staff going through the inhumane treatment from CEOs and upper management.



The environment at Caring For You head office has drastically changed since the new management took over. The culture is awful, they don’t respect their staff, they micromanage everyone and don’t even know the systems themselves. They claim to be “simply the best” but it’s all smokes and mirrors, they’re running the business into the ground. So many amazing people including managers have left and resignations are coming in daily. And they don’t even care they’re losing good, long standing staff, with a wealth of knowledge - they ask them to leave on the spot. If you asked me 4 months ago, this company was going to be my “forever” company, I loved coming into work everyday and had purpose but now I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone - unless you like being micromanaged, spoken down to, no office culture and no reward for hard work. 

Designated work is provided through your phone and the office girls are whizzes at booking and allocating jobs. Facilities are very welcoming when you arrive when faced with the possibility of working short, and make sure you have all the information and equipment you need to work effectively in their team. 
I've learned to speak up and ask questions to ensure I am fully aware of what is required.
The agency management have moved with the times and always stayed ahead of any changes in legislation. They offer fantastic support for their staff and make sure there are fun activities to join in to give a sense of belonging often missing in other agencies.
The hardest part of the job is not having permanent work to rely on, but having said that I've always had as much work as I've needed.
The best part is ringing and telling the office I'm having a day off.. and NO need for a doctor's note, and no recriminations just well wishes and "have a great day".

What is the best part of working at the company?
Treated as a part of a team, always efficient with administration, and shift allocations. Sent to good locations.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
understanding that alot of the people you work with have english as second language, so have to recognise how your response could be answered or ignored.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Good company to work for and that they recognise prior learning towards mandatory education that we have to do each year.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
busy, diverse, time management, stretching to complete some days around things that happen on the floor. But awesome at the same time.

When I started at C4U many years ago there were opportunities for growth and everyone was treated to a high level of respect. There were parties, celebrations and good times on a regular basis. Unfortunately, with a significant change to the leadership team recently the culture has changed drastically. What was once a fun, positive workplace has now been replaced by penny-pinching, micromanagement and bullying, despite massive profits. The only way this company survives is for people to push back against the recent changes. Most of the good employees have since moved on from Caring For You since the changes.

If you are looking for an Agency experience you will get it. Decent pay rates, flexible hours pick and choose where you want to work are features of all agencies and are embedded here. If however you are looking for an organisation that is progressive and shows values in actions then you are very much in the wrong place. This Organisation is run like a dictatorship with people that are more than happy to jump on the phone and abuse members and who don't understand their own policies let alone how to implement them. They market themselves as a compassionate organisation but this is all spin, you are just a number nothing else. My advice is there are plenty of other agencies out there go with them. 

Used to be hinders of shifts available but these days you’re lucky to see 10 shifts available on a weekday and 2-5 on a weekend and never anything on a public holiday - and of those shifts 99% are rural/too far away (minimum 2 hours away)
I’ve checked with 3 friends who also work for them, in case it was my training or competencies, but all of them see the same problem I do!
I wonder why no one is using C4U anymore? Is the company going under? Is it viable?
Used to be a great thriving agency but not anymore which is sad. An agency made by nurses for nurses was fantastic!! So supportive but we’re all now looking for a new Agency to use as we can’t rely on C4U for work anymore. FYI the other nurses are a mix of RN’s and EEN’s.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Plenty of shifts for PCA and would ring with work if on stand by . Now not many at all so sitting on app all the time waiting to pick up a job in Melbourne. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Stressful time waiting to get any shifts as a PCA . Allocation staff very apologetic explaining not many shifts to go around . 
Yet CFU still advertise for PCA ??
