I have been working for Care UK since 2013. Began working as a domicalry support worker worked my way up to become a care assistant. 
The induction was absolutlry garbage. Only four days of training. What kind of company gives 4 days induction and sends care staff to the work immdiatly without adequate training.
Since i started working until the day i left, i realised the company is corrupt. The nursed were very friendly to the care staff, but they made you do things that was not part of your job description, like administering medication which is the nurses duty.
The care staff were excellent towards each other, very supportive but they would use alot of force on the service users. but the worse thing is the management team. They would literely talk to us like dogs,treat us like slaves and overload your duties but mamibg you complete excessive amount of paper work. The big issue now is according to the deputy she wants all care staff to administer medication in the future, because nurses are doing rubbish job and cant speak a word of English. The nursing home has lack of infection control, the care staff actuarly dont wear aprons, or gloves and if they wear gloves they walk around the unit with dirty gloves when transfering patients to the lounge on recline chairs.


I have had the privilege of working at Halecroft grange for a period of 6 months , and it has been an incredibly fulfilling experience. The compassionate and dedicated team here is truly committed to providing the highest standard of care for our residents. Every day, I see firsthand how much effort goes into creating a warm, welcoming environment where residents feel safe, respected, and valued. The leadership promotes a culture of kindness and teamwork, which makes a significant difference in how we approach our work. I love that we are encouraged to build meaningful relationships with the residents, ensuring their individual needs are met with dignity and respect. It’s heartwarming to be part of a community where the focus is not just on physical care, but on emotional well-being as well. I’m proud to work here and make a positive impact in the lives of those we care for.



A typical day at work

Morning: going into service users home, getting them out of bed if they aren't already. Assisting them into the bathroom and helping them get washed at the sink or in the shower. Assisting them to get dried and dressed. Change a service users pad. I may have to give a specific service user medication if stated in the care plan.

Dinner: Going into make the service user something to eat, give them medication if required and change pad if also required.

Tea: Going into make the service user something to eat, give them medication if required and change pad if also required.

Evening: Assisting the service user to get changed into night clothes, give them medication or change pad if required. Also might assist the service user into bed.

Some calls are single and double ups.

Terribly run, management doesn’t care about staff at all. Almost hostile relationship between day and night staff. No understanding for individual staff requests, with clear favouritism. Management doesn’t view residents as people, more room numbers and promote staff to work in a “fast and efficient” way rather than person centred and understanding. Annual leave is more than often declined unless speaking to those authorising it directly and having a “valid” reason to request. I left after six months because it was impossible to have a work/home life balance and felt like a prison sentence turning up to work every shift! - Strongly avoid 

On a typical day, I would begin with the breakfast run followed by lunch. Preparing meals and cleaning took up most of the allotted time. During my time with Care UK I learnt to manage time and multitask. My co-workers were fun and very helpful. The hardest part of this job was time allotment, There was not enough time to travel from one care user to the next making me late. When I spoke of my concern to the management the just told me to leave some of the care users earlier... This was NOT an option as they have paid for the allotted time so therefore deserve to have that time spent on them.
I enjoyed working with and for the care users most of which were happy and looked forward to our visits.

I work nights this involves supporting the staff to assist residents with their care needs. Administering medication and to support residents during the night. I  gave done care for 40yrs but still learn new things every day.  Management has an open door policy  and are inclusive of different cultures.  The hone is  a great place to work so I find it difficult finding any part of the job hard. I  love my job and supporting individuals with their different needs everyday and making a difference to their lives gives me so much satisfaction 

I used to work for care UK as a Theatre HCA at NELTC and I loved my job, I really liked my team of professionals from the all levels of staffing. 

I took great pride in my role and would work for Care Uk again, only reason I departed was to have my second child and I stayed at home to raise him for a couple of years. 

I enjoyed my job very much and the hours, suited me well, I found my team members to be firm but fair and everyone I worked with worked together to reach the same goal, which is to ensure all patients have a safe and comfortable experience from start to finish. 

I would recommend Care Uk to potential job seekers, what you put in you get back simple.

Overall a good company to work for. Very supportive and understanding, They do care about the patients and will do all they can to help. On the negative side there is a situation where certain members of staff will tell on you if you are late for work which doesn’t help anyone. Management need to be more consistent with rules that apply to everyone. I think some members of staff who work with in Bury St Edmunds should take a long look at themselves and think how they conduct themselves. One member is extremely lazy and cannot be trusted which is a shame because it effects others.

CareUK is a great company to work for if they would sort out the top management who appear to frustrate the business growth. To attract business, you need to spend - poor internet connections, archaic desktops, old malfunctioning beds and furniture should be replaced. Management appointments should be on merit not favouritism - maybe interviews should be conducted by an independent company. If the top is flexible and competent then the company would be great to work for.

The Care home based in Wembley had very  bad management . You should just go and logon to the Care UK  website  and see how many job roles they have open due to the amount off staff turnover they get.  Fact of the matter is nobody want to stay and work for a long time. They also pay you very rubbish for the amount of hours you work per shift you are better off working the same hours with in the NHS . 

If you value yourself , your time  and effort  do not even consider this place . They tend to offer you  the job as soon as you finished interviewing    do not fall for it  they are trying to stop you from changing your mind .
