Awful wages if you're under 16. Only 4 pound per hour. Most of the staff are very unfriendly and one of the managers made me pick up chewing gum for going to the toilet. If you're a temporary retail assistant for example a Christmas worker, you are likely to only get 4 hours a week and if you ask for overtime you are unlikely to get it. There are a few friendly people, but I found that these were only the new workers/temporary sales assistants just like me. I got on well with those but the staff who work there permanently are generally unfriendly and don't care about the temporary workers. 

A typical day working there is going in for your shift 10 minutes early so you can count your till float and set up your till. You then serve the customers on your till and when the queue is small you tidy the cards and replenish the stock. At Christmas time the queues are very unlikely to go small as it's VERY busy. 15 minutes before your shift is over you will be taken off your till by a manager and have your till float counted. 

At Card Factory I learned some things like how to work a till, improving my communication skills, replenishing stock and tidying the store. I learnt a lot of this in my work experience at Debenhams but I was only there for a week so I learnt all this in a lot more detail at Card Factory. 

When I worked there we had a manager who was rarely there as she worked in different stores. Therefore we had Assistant Managers who looked after our store on different days. We had 5 different assistant managers. Two of them were quite lazy and couldn't be bothered but they were okay to their colleagues. Another was extremely horrible and rude and will make you pick up chewing gum for going to the toilet. As a whole they were pretty bad as you will get no training whatsoever and aren't usually interested in helping you if you're struggling. My wages were also messed up as I got paid for 3 shifts instead of 4 in the first month.

Most of my co-workers were friendly as we were all in the same boat. We were all temporary workers so we were all in the same situation. Some were nicer than others as some were easy to chat to when there were no queues while others were maybe a bit shy to talk but we always helped each other when we were stuck with something. 

The hardest part of the job was going because I always had a feeling of anxiety going. I was worried about what bad thing was going to happen today as something always did and even at the end of the month I didn't even have anything to look forward too because the wages were so little.

The most enjoyable part of the job was meeting new people who were working with me and improving my communication skills with customers. You meet so many customers in Card Factory especially at Christmas time as it is so busy and therefore you have to be quite confident in any busy retail store for obvious reasons.

Meeting new customers, nothing else to say really 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Trying to hit targets everyday,  trying to do new moves when the shop is full 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment,  I would say keep yourself to yourself,  concentrate on the work,  people can start gossiping. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
My typical day would be to open the shop put on the safe put the tills on and serve.  It ca6be quite boring as where I worked was a small shop

Mixture of going on tills, sorting out cards, doing balloons and sorting out stock and a mixture of merchandising tasks. I already work in retail so I didn't learn too much. The staff were pleasant most of time and helped me at times. I liked organising the store as I found it was quite untidy so I sorted a lot out. The hardest part of the job was not receiving enough till support, I found most staff avoided tills as much as possible leaving only myself or myself and one other on tills at busy times.

My typical day at works involves till work and customer service, working on tills along side my co workers, i find serving customers the most enjoable part of my job as i like to help people. In my day i also have to fill shelves neaten and tidy the shopfloor. i also have to rearrange the shopfloor so we display our stock in the best possible way, i enjoy doing this as i like to arrange and organise things and seeing the after effect.   

The store was often very busy, providing lots of work to undertake. The management and organisation was often a little 'all over the place' and could be improved. There was little staff training or introduction to the workplace, and I was 'thrown in at the deep end', as I hadn't experienced this line of work before. Co-workers were generally nice, however there was a clear hierarchy between workers of different status which was a little off-putting.

Absolutely thoroughly enjoyed the few weeks I worked at the Card Factory it was very busy being Christmas but all staff and management were faultless was sorry when my employment came to an end due to lockdown thank you Card Factory  for  giving me the opportunity to work with you all it was one of the best job experiences I have had 

A typical working day at Card Factory is productive and yet fun, during the day I would make sure that the stock is nice and neat, I interact with customers and guide them if they need any help and lastly I work on the till. The management are friendly and easy to approach they encourage us to ask for help when needed and they are fair to all members of staff.

I worked as a season sales assistant at the Ipswich store and had a great couple of months. The staff were really helpful when training me and the manager was excellent. Got to meet lots of lovely customers. My rota was available weeks in advance and if I needed to swap shifts it wasn't an issue. 

The fact that the company will only ever see you as expendable and replace you as soon as needed shows they care little for job satisfaction and relations,and more about the bottom line and board bonuses.

Worst place I’ve ever worked. Management is disgusting and needs improvement as soon as possible, manager has no patience or people skills, was forever made to think that I was incapable of doing my job, made my anxiety 10000 times worse than it was before I started
