A typical day at work is getting into the submarine; crawling around in tight spaces, limited lighting and other tradesmen. Doing preparation work, ready to paint the prepared surface.
I have learnt how to paint neater, how to prepared surfaces, how to sandblast.
The management at Cape is alright; lower management on the ground is excellent, the further up the chain you go, the more terrible they are.
The workplace culture is pretty good; all the workers try to include the new people into the group pretty quickly, and help them to learn.
The hardest part of the job is getting around the submarine, and into the confined spaces.
The most enjoyable part of the job is the challenges you face.

working for cape was interesting, a lot of guys said is wasn't a good company to worked for, i was new to FIFO so didn't know any different, i found cape good to work for, and had no major issues, although there were times where it seemed management didn't give a stuff about craft personal, there were other times where they were very accommodating to guys situations with family issues and other problems. We had no Christmas party, no real celebration when targets were hit way before schedule, well some crews did, but management were always having party's it seemed, a lot of work mates had on going issues with certain aspects, such as pays, flights and just negligence in certain areas,

Cape Australia is one the big and good company in Australia.  It deals with construction, installation, fire proofing, painting and scaffolding.  It gives opportunities to everyone to bring their own best and skills to contribute to the company and its own personal development.  I highly recommended Cape Australia, one of the best company.

I absolutely loved working for Cape, I was devastated when I had to leave as I could no longer do the extremely long hours on site due to having young children. The team I worked with in the HR department were amazing, if I could go back tomorrow I would.

Learning different aspects of a huge mine site which is the biggest mine site in Australia

Working in Darwin is very challenging as it is always hot.As health and safety requires, they provides us all the tools and equipment we need and always the heat stress policy applies

Tier 3 Sub Contractor
Management & Supervision require increased training in all facet of work and management of personnel.
Difficult to receive answers from Payroll Department as most based overseas.

Good People to work with  Meals & Accommodation supplied.  Training on the job.  Get on with Management.  Long Hot Days.  Away from the family.  Look forward to R/R

At the time of being in the business there was a major change of personnel as a number of business were being transitioned this resulted in a lot of confusion amongst the business
