A typical day at work here is lively and positive.  I have enjoyed many opportunities to expand my experience in a safe and supported way.  

After a recent change in leadership, the future is bright for this department.  This pharmacy department is lucky to have one of the country's great safety and quality minds at the helm.  The focus of the management team is looking after the team, the workers, and the patients.  

There is a newly established residency program for early career pharmacists which has already produced its first round of graduates. 
Opportunities in different clinical and non-clinical specialities are opening up for established practitioners.  For those wanting to ride the digital health wave, there will be opportunities galore with the pending implementation of a comprehensive digital health record over the coming years.  

Despite its reputation for being cold and boring, Canberra is a great place to establish your career, raise families, enjoy a great work-life balance (no more traffic!).  

The most enjoyable part of the job is being inspired to come to work to make a difference, feeling safe when I'm there, and fulfilled when I head home.

General inquiries,cash register service. Customer service at high level. Helping volunteers with the registers. Pricing and utilizing space available to sell merchandise. Assisting with gifts to find what customers preferred. Wrapping gifts, chocolates,filling drink fridges, cleaning shelves and fridges.
I learned some computer knowledge within retail, and how to work with many individual clients.
My co-workers were exceptional. Mostly I worked with  volunteers.  I am proud to say that I, at all times helped  produce good foundations.

Another, became a new fridge that required filling from the front. It held approximately 800 various drinks and was in a position where filling required me to move around customers.
I really enjoyed most of my job,
It was a true pleasure to be able to engage,  if only for a minute. Rapport is a gift, and this I have.

A typical day of work for me starts with meeting and greeting co-workers, a brief social interaction followed almost immediately by planning the day's work: allocating duties and break times, ordering patients' meals and infusions. There is always a sense of co-operation and determination to achieve client satisfaction above everything else.
 I have learnt to be initiative as well as to take responsibility for any mishaps or undesirable outcomes that are directly related to my job. Management has generally  been considerate of my personal and professional needs.

Very multicultural. Offers opportunity for training and advancement. There is greater placement on training and supporting staff through their learning and advancement in care provision. Training can be short term in house training or off campus long term studies. Study days are offered if required. Quality care is the key.The organization prides itself in providing and promoting excellent care which has research basis, The consumer is always top on the agenda.Staff welfare is also supported through various mechanisms such as leave, work agreement, safety and work life balance.

My usual day at work is busy but enjoyable. I learned many techniques especially treating with different and challenging cases. The management is very supportive and reliable. My co-workers are fun to work with and very helpful. The hardest part of my job is we are dealing with infectious patients which is a risk of being infected as well. We have a group morning tea every Friday where we get together and socialize to each other.

Typical day can be hectic on the floor with heavy workload because too many 'senior' nurses have desk jobs in the hospital and in ACT generally.  And while medical teams are relatively approachable and polite, the nurses-eat-their-young bullying culture remains the hardest part of the job.  The most enjoyable part of the job is the leaning opportunities and support for career advancement.

I imagine the situation is different now. After I left they hired a new manager (an Australian - as it should be) for Spiritual Support Services who might have been able to secure more paid help.  I functioned with the help of many trained volunteers.

* My working days primarily were sorting medical reports and performing general duties around the specimens area of pathology.

* Learn a lot about how the government health system works

* Work place culture for me was kind've awkward, being young working primarily with people much older than me was difficult to establish common interests

Working in a very big hospital, it's a brilliant productive and fun environment to work and gain a lot of experience. it's sometimes a bit challenging but also interesting. A very excellent learning management support system. Also, lovely patients to work, and sometimes positive teams works and a great supportive and friendly environment.
