All aspects of kitchen cleaning,washing up, packing away all utensils used . Some cooking of Hot takeaway food to re fill the Hot Box. Stocking the drink cabinets and it can be fun too ! Having a sense of humour when it can get very busy with customers and doing chores. Management is pretty good but could be improved with more communication and listening to staff issues and the running of the cafe. Learning the cash register as it is one of the most important aspects due to the financial side and still learning that! Working as a team with the people I work with are great.  Barista Coffee making I enjoy the most!  Over all the experience has been wonderful and fun. Be great if the positions were more permanent and a bit more variety in jobs. Worth doing if you would like to learn hospitality at entry level to learn valuable skills and friends that are supportive as mine have been.


I started off being employed at coolabah as customer service but since my time here i have quickly learnt cooking ,sandwich preparation and supervisor. I have outstanding customer service skills, with customers waiting until I finish serving to say good bye to me and thank me for making them smile.
I get along well with all my peers always offer a hand whenever i can. Can multi task very well and are able to use my own initiative when required. 
I believe in always having a smile on my face, I have a warm bubbly personality which reflects across to other staff. I had one staff member recently thank me for always being happy as it helps them get through the day easier. 
I love working towards a goal, which at present is working my way up and improving upon my skills I have already gained and handle any challenge that may present itself in a professional manner.

A typical day can start and finish anywhere from 5:45am to 10pm. My job is to serve customers, prepare food, clean, wait tables, serve coffee, refill cakes and drinks. I have learned that a faced paced environment is rewarding in many ways. Management don't seem to communicate well, everyone has been trained differently and you get told to do things multiple ways but a pretty much everyone, it's confusing and makes it hard to work, however, management is friendly. For me the most enjoyable part is making coffee, I've always enjoyed making coffee and then cleaning up afterwards.

This was a very busy cafe. The staff there were very friendly and easy to get along with. I enjoyed being given extra responsibilities as I was there. A typical day would begin with preparing breakfasts ready for opening time and getting roasts in the oven to be cooked in time for lunch service. The hardest part of this job would be to keep up with orders in the busiest service times.

Managing is difficult but staff working everyday with made my job easy as all were ready to help in fulfilling any task at Cafe.

Working at Coolabah was a great experience and being so young I learnt so much. I learn't proper customer communication and reliance, I learn't how to restock and count cash tills. Most importantly I learn't how to work and be apart of a team.

When I worked there the management was amazing, she did such a good job creating an environment where people wanted to come to work. Most of the co-workers were really nice and helpful if needed.

The hardest part of the job was staring at 4am when I was 15.

There is no manager but some like to be bossy. I love all my customers and my favourite part of working there was being able to work independently and left alone. A lot has changed since then and I have people telling me what to do even though they have worked for comoany 6 months. I always have to do 4am starts, but no one else has to and my pay rate is lower.

Lowkey they were not very nice, the co workers were but not everyone. I was sad and literally scared to even go. Ruined my day, I didn’t even get paid for my two weeks of working there, my training was only one day. They had 2 whole ahh menu and expected me to remember it in like 2 days 🤨 when I messaged them saying when my next shift was, didn’t get a response so I assume I was fired? 🥸

There wasn't a lot of security as far as going from casual to part-time or full-time. Weekly hours would vary but they were flexible if you needed time to go to appointments etc
