I worked at the Grafton correctional centre for around 6 months. The safety on the job was appalling, a lot of incidents went unreported. The management was just push push push and more worried about hitting targets and new records every week than safety of the guys out on the floor. Management were continually in breach of contract, trying to change the goal posts all the time. The redundancy pay outs, were almost impossible to receive as it was written into the contract so as to be paid out at the descretion of Civmec HR. Getting any tools or materials was impossible due to the ridiculous budget that they had set. As Civmec put a roof over the precast yard that was on site on the jail grounds, Civmec employees were not entitled to all of the benefits of the rest of the site, ie no rdo’s, no site allowance. I have black listed Civmec as a company I would work for in the future.

Gain first hand knowledge of how the the company operates 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Lack of safety concerns, raised safety issues getting ignored and covered up. Supervisors congratulated for getting the job done quicker at the expense of everyone’s health and safety 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
You are removed from site if you raise safety concerns- very abusive supervision / management turns a blind eye. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Constantly highlighting breaches and non conforming issues - only to be insulted.

All supervisors were good and approachable,well spoken and explainable and very respectful,even the work groups were respectful to each other...

I don't just stress,but if it's something major then I will stress...

All the guys were good to work with we all got on well and respected each other,there was no disrespect...

Just go out there and do your best. 
Do it safely,look after your  safety and others that work with you

Even if you are desperate steer well clear of this company, covering up safety issues to having shoddy work practises is all in a day's work for them. Supervisors scream at you if you put the tools down for even a second, no talking and don't get me started on the manager who intimidates and threatens his staff because of not working on a weekend.

Would not be surprised if they have a death real soon numerous injuries not reported or if so covered up.

Hardest part of the job doing 6 sometimes 7 days a week and being burnt out.

I was the cleaner for 5 years and 4months worst company ever don't work for them.Horrible pay horrible people.

Disrespect from people up the ladder no respect

Disrespectful from everyone but the Chinese

I have a good and very active Superintendent, and I have a good team mares

Good teamwork, safety oriented, no racial discrimination and  fair salary

Do my best everyday, work safely and g home safe to my family

Civmec is a organisation on the move. The company is growing constantly and have a will do can do approach to all scopes of work on the Ichthys project. 
Management are constantly checking with Superintendents, supervisors and leading hands to ensure workers safety, welfare and work life balance is not only achieved but maintained.

The best working environment.

Working hours are stressful and difficult  to manage.

Peaceful, quiet and respectful. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Every day is typical day, I enjoy working with Civmec

Management is bad and not friendly. Work is forced by the supervisors. Work standards are not clear. Supervisors have a degree of bias and favouritism. However, the wage of the job is good which is the reason why people choose to work there, but the respect from the supervisors is earned from the providence of gifts from the workers (favouritism and bias mentioned above).

I really liked the bosses, i know some may seem they are tuff on people at first, but that's how to motivate people! And get the job done. we worked to a high quality standard, i worked for them 4 or 5 times. i would love to go back
