I was only there for a short time and so the time I was there I was learning one particular job which was data entry of the receipts from the delivery guys who delivered the pallets to the various customers, etc. So I was basically doing the same thing every day. I really enjoyed how CHEP taught/advised us about the other departments and what they did in the company, and how they fitted in. They took us around and showed us, as well as introduced us, to the other people in those departments. The guy teaching us also took us to head office to meet the CEO and we had lunch with him. He advised us of a pyramid "action" system, where if someone had a question or complaint, the first person would put it in the system, it would then go to the correct department to be actioned. If it wasn't actioned in a certain time frame, it would then be escalated to someone higher up, etc. And eventually it could even get right up to the CEO if no one did anything. But I'm sure people made sure that didn't happen.

Workplace culture was fine on the whole. The only thing that I didn't like was that there was a gentleman in my department that liked to listen to the radio whilst doing data entry. That wasn't so much the problem, it was the station he liked to listen to. It wasn't to my liking (some loud, metal music channel, I prefer classical), and as he had been there longer, we weren't allowed to change the channel to something else, which I found very unfair! Had I stayed longer, I would have made more of a stand, but as I found a job closer to home, I didn't bother.

The job itself wasn't difficult at all. I would say the only thing that was difficult was reading some of the truck drivers writing.

I hadn't done data entry before, so it was a new thing I was learning. That was enjoyable to me as I like learning new things.

Small team of four, checking emails up to 300 on some days, trouble shooting their queries, correcting pallet concerns, invoicing, replying to major companies such as Coke, Kmart, Coles. Management where on your back a lot to finish for the day emails, team where great always supportive. Hardest part was not getting the emails down to finish or being stuck on a major one that took up most of your day. Best part was finishing, and hearing the satisfaction of your customers voice on the phone.

Some of the most enjoyable part of this job is team work, interacting with people both in the factory as well as truck drivers from all over, my hours of work which is afternoon shift and one of the hardest part is ensuring that paper work are correct before releasing products on trucks
But in general I would totally agree with the fact that chep is one of the most well organised company when dealing with safety, definitely a number one priority.

I learned how to train new people on the job, the importance of correct communication, respecting others and following safety procedures

Most enjoyable part of the job was that it was results oriented and had generally a free hand within strict budget constraints.

Co-workers and fitting in was easy once you proved your self. Extremely co-operative and team concept. Flat management structure was conducive to resultant success.

Off shoring within a Shared Services concept and handling the resultant redundancies was the hardest part of the role.

Great - Excellent people, excellent values. Ethically sound in business type and corporate behaviour

50% routine, 40% autonomous, 10% chaos

My days back at Chep in kewdale perth, Was really good because managements was they best safety was Number one that was best about Cheps and all staffs that worked with us that time were very friendly  and our manger was best manger i never worked with , he look afer workers very well our safety was his number. Our teams at Chep in kewdale  2016_2017 were they best teams, and all  our staffs members ,managers ,  supervisors and   team leader,  where really good and I hope Chep still that good management  in place.

Chep had a very structured approach to the workflow and advancing from the floor into management was a hugh learning curve.  The culture was fantastic and everyone supported one another.  The hardest part of the job was having to let someone go who had not followed the policies and displayed a threaten manner to their co-workers.  This behavior was not tolerated and I had to dismiss them without prejudice.

Working with chep was good, money wise was alright, but the rotating shifts was a bit hard. Messed up your sleeping patterns and if you do long hours you'll have no time to spend with family. Im not saying the job was bad it's just that I was trying to balance work and family at the same time but it didn't seem to work out. I needed a fixed shift, ongoing job with a good rate to support my family. To be honest I will dedicate to a secure job that'll look after me and i sure will do the same like wise.

It takes very long for just one small issue to reach to management and for them to give solution.

Can’t take leaves and if you are casual then there is threat of job security if you take leave.

Even if you work as a casual for long regularly like permanent  no chance of getting actually permanent

Very low wages comparatively for this hard nature job where you do really tough job.
