I worked at Anglesea heights in Ipswich from November 2015 until August 2016 when I left job sending letter on the 29 August due to extremely difficult situation with a family member when i left job with immediate effect.  Hovewer I found out later that I am sacked from job and my letter haven't reach them .
During 2013-2014-2015 very bad CQC report give Anglesea heights very bad reputation in our area. When I started there= yes things are to difficult house is not cleaned to highest standards as there is only 10 housekeepers(when I left 22)care employees are so limited  numbers they are working so long hours and all employee are exhausted.
Just 3 months later Thanks to new managers and more staff employed=we are cleaner than Ritz hotel, gardens are beautifully sorted with residents in mind, redecorations took place nearly everywhere, staff are supported ,every new idea  from residents or family member or staff is welcomed, rooms and houses smell so clean that clean that once when visit regional manager complimented it is first home she visited that is clinically clean, residents are so well looked after and so so happy(example when I was doing my deliveries to all 4 houses on Mondays I used to take residents with me to help me with  job they also can sign paperwork), when staff going for breaktime first thing is to take one or two of residents with them to the gardens or make cup tea and have little chat with residents who are in rooms.
 Equipments for work are upgraded ,everything apart from socks and towel are ironed, residents shoes are clean and polished regulary linen cabinets are so tidy and organise  ,menu changed and upgraded cooking with freshest ingredients, medical rooms are sorted thanks to nurses ,medicine delivered to residents at exact time when needed,all paperwork done thanks to introducing quicker way of work-pc tablet-in every room, employees   become happier and team work and team spirit is amazingly good. I can go on and on with all positive changes there for long time.Residents  are extremely happy with care they receiving. Family of residents are so happy and compliments are every day written ,there is 4 months without any single complaint from resident or family member. Resident of the day had always fresh flowers in they rooms from managers , walk around gardens with activity staff or taken to park just two minutes away,   all this good work are still there   , . 
Unfortunately for some reason all that good work is not promoted to public and Anglesea heights will be closed in few days.

Pros
It was nice to work in a big stylish office building before we had to move to work from home. The company provided free fruits, tea and coffee at the office.
You could have one well-being day once a year. The evening shift was at a higher rate.
It was easy to get to know each other at the call centre. Most service consultants were friendly and supportive.
Previously, Bupa organised small events or parties for socialising with work colleagues.

Cons
Evaluation is based only on KPIs. It is best if the customer does not call back within two weeks, as it will impact your KPI metrics.
We also had to handle and resolve the issues outside of our expertise caused by the other departments. The management did not praise the time you spent on a successful resolution. But the time you spent on the phone to investigate could crash the above mentioned KPIs.
We had to deal frequently with customers who could be aggressive, rude, or show their negative attitude towards your cultural background. However, you would not receive appropriate support from your Team Leader or higher Management.
The management also controlled the number of short breaks going to the bathroom. And, they could question the frequency of visits and the length of time spent there(regardless of gender).
The interaction with other departments was tricky. They could be responsive or not as much.
If there was an issue with the computer or the working applications, it was difficult to convince the Service Desk to investigate and fix the technical problem.

I would not recommend this work experience to my friends or colleagues as the work process harms your mental health. The promises about career growth were not true in the end.

Working with bupa has been pretty underwhelming. The care staff are treated poorly and given bad hours, the kitchen staff get terrible hours, the registered staff are overworked and get the work of the care managers lumped onto them, the care managers are overpaid and unhelpful. Management don't listen to a thing the lower staff say and treat them like peasants that they can order around and talk down to instead of being helpful and nurturing healthy work relationships there is a definitive line between the managers and those beneath them. The pay is absolutely terrible and the PCA's dont have access to salary sacrificing but the well paid administration staff and managers do have this benefit when they are paid considerably more than the registered staff and care staff that need it. Concerns for residents are only answered when they become a danger and residents that have a tendency to complain to head office or cause a fuss are given special treatment over the others. Loyal staff that have been with them since day one are not valued. When staff are unhappy they are fine with letting them leave rather than fix the problem and as such the turnover rate is really high and every few months the majority of staff have cycled out. The positives about working for bupa are that the staff are pleasant and work well together aside from management and the residents are lovely. Little to no opportunities for advancement or encouragement for education and growth are available.

What is the best part of working at the company?
If i could give this rating zero stars i would have.  Very hard to find a positive with my experience.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The lack of proper training.  You are goven the bare minimum snd then thrown in at the dee end.  My group was also pushed through several lots of training before we had even completed our probation period Nd grasped the original training.  The huge stress afected so manu of us that half my group (6 people) had left within 6 months.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The customer service start are treated with mistrust.  You have to explain every second you are logged out of the phones.  The company is only concerned with profit which created a very miserable work environment.  I didnt want to show up each day due to the high anxiety it caused me.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I felt like there were so many knowledge gaps that it was highly stressful all the time.  The wait to get through to the help team was long and nothing but negative feedback from management.  An ineffectual training program that sets you up to fail from the beginning. The pay is poor for their high expectations. I wouldn't bother being an employee or a customer of this corporate entity.

You can tell the quality of an organisation by their retention of staff. 

Management was constantly changing. Employees were supposed to be impeccable but management took no responsibility for their lack of respect towards the staff, their bullying, and the micromanagement of the staff. They didn't follow their own values and ruled with an iron fist, forcing staffs to sign in a book, so they can be booted out of their job if found underperforming, hence not addressing the main facility issues. Any pushback was met with threats and intimidation. Old staffs think they are untouchable, suggestions were not taken on board and there is no chance of moving forward with the company. Managers spying and evedropping on workers, also using surbodinate workers to spy on their fellow managers.

Carers are treated with disdain when they are the bread and butter of the organisation. Staff meetings were minimal and their acting GM is nothing but a bully, who sits in the office all day doing absolutely nothing, but eating kitchen food and fiddling with the computer. 

In all, unhappy staff felt disrespected and in fear if they spoke out, they will be ambushed, and kicked out of the facility. Its a risky environment!

I do not recommend this facility for professional development, they will drain you with no support. If you are a family member, think twice.

As a young Australian woman my experience here was horrible. Workers are treated like absolute dirt. Bupa employ's mostly foreigners who can barely speak english, and they treat them like animals.
It is cruel and many of these foreign workers are too frightened to speak up when there is an issue. I was being an advocate for my own workmates, bupa should be ashamed of their management and reporting systems, considering staff were afraid to speak up. 

The management staff bullied us. I was the only one who did not sit silently with what was going on. 

There was always a shortage of staff, which resulted in less quality of care for the residents, as we were managing up to 15 residents EACH! 

The workplace culture was depressing, I felt left out an excluded from the other staff due to cultural differences. Nobody wanted to be working there but they were desperate for a job, so everybody was miserable and depressed. It was a terrible workplace culture. Management made no effort to befriend the staff or organise events to build us all as a team. 

Do Not Work For bupa unless you like being treated like an animal with no respect for the honorable and professional work you do.

I used to help my mother at her job and was considered as a volunteering job at Bupa, a typical day there was trained nurses got the residents up, I helped feed them and cleaned up after them, we then got them to get there arms and some of there legs moving , they then had morning tea and later after were fed lunch, some stayed playing the game but some decided they just wanted to have a break. they had dinner and were put to bed for us to make sure the work place was tidy. I learnt a lot more patience as they moved very slow and did everything in a slow pace. the management of the place when I helped from 2013-2016 was not good at all, the manager cut some people off certain jobs causing them to not have enough staff which was why our help was needed. the workplace culture was ok as there used to be a church group that came in for people of all different religions and Christmas, Easter, Halloween etc. was always celebrated. the most hardest part was when the residents didn't agree with certain things causing them to get a little bit angry. the most enjoyable part as  volunteering was most of the residents were soo nice.

A typical day was organising activities to do with the residents., playing bingo, drawing, craft work, flower arranging, taking them on outings to the beach, movies, picnics, shopping and to other aged care homes to visit other residents, join in with sing-a-longs, have lunch with them. I learnt to be calm, patient, listen and be gentle with these residents. I truly loved these folks, everyone of them has a story and has had a whole life, with its highs and lows, everyone is important and matters! I learnt to show them this. The workplace culture was that you needed to 'hurry' and move things along, there was someone else waiting for care, and you had to get around to everybody, almost to the point of been rude!, I didn't like that. Hardest part of the job was NOT having the quality and quantity of TIME to spend with each and every person, because you were only one person trying your best to get as much done in the time allocated! Most enjoyable was talking and laughing with them when they told you of their lives and who was still here that made them happy.

I had little idea of the reality of working at Bupa as a panel physician before starting and have not come to regret that decision. It is refreshing to see the flat communication style used, the collaboration between teams and the focus on preserving work life balance. It is simply refreshing coming from the hospital culture.

No place is perfect but there is enough motivation, opportunity and time to develop by contributing and participating in the evolving space that is business.

I worked as a casual AIN for quite a while (over 3 years)
 Casuals were treated.as expendable and blamed for any and all issues. There is something nasty about this company's management and leadership, the care staff and residents were wonderful but management churned over regularly and did their best to make everyone else's life miserable.  Resident complaints.were.explained by management as staff telling residents to voice concern on their behalf, inadequate food portions were blamed on staff eating the food.Residents who attracted high funding levels were kept in the facility when they should have gone to hospital or more other appropriate facilities, these residents' complaints were taken seriously when those with lower acuity were told to move out if they are unhappy. The list goes on. BUPA is all about company profits and bonuses for those in control. Wages are lowest in industry and AINs expected to give medications as well as provide personal care. No wonder a Bupa employee went postal in Victoria
