one day a regular  customer walked in and asked for a pie. I gave him what he wanted. after 10 minutes he cam back having anger on his face there were other customers waiting to be served, I figured out that there is some problem so I asked him what made him upset. He said very angrily that he has been given an overcooked pie and he is not happy about it and he said he has been coming here for years but this has never happened before. I patiently heard what he had to say and then first apologised for that and asked for that pie back and given him another pie and assured hi that this will never happen again and apologised again and given him a donut as a complimentary item. He was them calm and apologised for being rude and appreciated what I did. 
Then I have notified the baker about the overcooked pie and made sure that never happens again.

I learned  that if a customer is angry, we can handle him by being polite and patient and also trying to understand customer's frustration without judging them help us provide a solution to the problem and give the customer a pleasant customer service experience.
hardest part of the job is trying make the customers the rules and policy of the company when a customer is being difficult and making any unreasonable demand.
The most exciting part of is when you can show your problem solving skill and help the customer and giving them a good experience of customer service and satisfaction of good service.

I would be required to clean the whole shop (mopping, wiping, sweeping) including the washing up. I served customers and made sure the bread and pastries looked appealing to customers as they walked in by keeping everything neat. I stocked the drinks and cold pastries when they ran out. I operated a cash register and eftpos machine and handled all of the money. At the end of the day I would write down the stock left for the day and enter it into the system, clean the shop again, take out the trash, count the money and put it in bags and lock up by myself. 

I learnt how to operate a bread slicer, names to different breads and how to operate an eftpos machine and cash register as well as lock up a shop at night by myself. 

I enjoy working with other people but with this job I was the only one working, which I also enjoyed as it gave me space in a small shop to do my duties. The hardest part of the job was the lack of management/communication and the inconstancy with shifts, but I wasn't worried about that as it was just a casual job during my high school years and found it easy to work around. 

There wan't a whole lot of management involved while I was there but I quickly learnt to adjust and make quick decisions when needed and do what I think people would have wanted me to do without telling me so. 

Overall it was a good casual job that gave me many new skills that can contribute to future jobs.

I have proved to my employers I can take the leaders role of a Supervisor and take control of the shop by guiding my co-workers in an effective and productive manner by assisting my juniors with their jobs and encouraging them to upsell the products. Every day is a new day, and I face whatever challenge comes my way and complete it to the best of my abilities. The most enjoyable part of my job is meeting new people, whether they are customers or a new co-worker. I have gained many friendships with my loyal customers, which has encouraged them to come back to the shop more often. This job was a great start to my employee journey, however I am ready to move on and face new and challenging obstacles.

A typical day at work included cleaning and washing up after the workers as my shift commenced at the end of the day. The cleaning involved washing and drying dishes and cooking utensils, sweeping and  mopping floors, cleaning out baking ovens, sanitising surfaces and cleaning front of the store windows. If the store was busy I was also help serve. It then involved tidying out the front and disposing of left over bread at the end of the shift, usually going to charity services. I gained more experience in serving customers and also gained knowledge about different breads that were sold. Management was instructive and firm, but was also welcoming and kind making work quite stress free and a relaxed environment. Workplace culture was casual and inviting as other staff were kind and friendly. The hardest part of the job was working in a small space in the back of the store it did not leave much room if there were a lot of staff working or other visitors in the back. The most enjoyable part of the job was serving customers as I got to talk with other people and I didn't have to be cleaning.

The environment was clean, the managers and work partners were all friendly and helpful. customers are usually regulars and love coming back almost every week. 

A usual day in the work place included stocking up the display cases with the breads, cakes, lunches, pies, rolls etc. 
I would serve customers and work the till, this includes use of a bread machine and microwave when needed. When quiet i would make pies, clean equipment and utensils, and stock the fridge.

Usually 2 people working at a time, so there is always help if needed, and a very calm environment due to this.

Sometimes i would go to the supermarket next door to buy food for the sandwiches we make before lunch.

Closing up, we would pack leftover food into bags and boxes for a charity worker to come pick up, dust off displays and clean, clean bread machine, counter tops, and floors, and count the money in the till, check sales, and make sure everything is turned off before locking up.

A typical day at work would be getting the till ready and the computer all set up and ready to use, making sure every thing is tidy all through out the day, preparing food and putting it out on shelves.
Management- managers were lovely people always helping out. 
Co-workers- Also lovely people good people to work in a team with, showed how to do everything when I first arrived and very friendly.
Hardest part of job- Would have to of been counting the money at the end of the day and banking only because I didn't know how to to start with but I picked it up in the end.
Most enjoyable part of the day- Probably mornings because it was always busy in the morning and I prefer to be on my feet doing something all the time rather than standing around looking for something to do

Typical days at work involve constant customer service, continuous food handling, register work, stocktaking, cleaning throughout your shifts and a thorough final clean up independently at the end of the day.

I learnt to take orders in person and over the phone, prepare orders, stack and arrange bread shelves and cabinets, learn food items and prices off by heart and attach their labels correctly, prepare food, package food, move around and operate heavy machinery i.e bread slice machine, stocktake, clean bench tops, sweep and mop floors, clean bread slicer, secure cash register money in safe and prepare next days open float, set security alarm and lock up.

Co-workers are friendly, but there is not much interaction as we are usually working solitarily shifts.

While working here, I immediately found a consistency with the lack of care/effort that went into completing tasks. I believe this derived from the lack of care that the employer showed. The overall work ethic was very low in most employees, apart from the odd couple. There was also next to no money put back into the shop which was very visible with large holes in the Lino, light bars that were not replaced which all became work hazards. In saying this, the Bakers always delivered fresh bread a food and good customer service. 
Rostering consistently was a problem as people were unreliable, management often forgot availability and created back-to-back shifts. The hardest part for me was picking up after other employees and constantly changing my personal life plans to cater for changes at work.

Enjoyable to go to work everday, the team members were exceptional, excellant products, excellant customer base, spacious store, learning more about diversity, culture, and building up customer satisfaction. Being not only a team leader but a team member, showing innovation, support, encouragement and rewards. The hardest part of the job was training staff who had exceled and than having to watch them leave and enter into a career of their choice, though proud of their achievements missing their presence. At the same time the enjoable part is feeling in some way that i have contributed in their build up of confidence, self-esteem and directing them to become the best that they can.

A typical day of work includes setting up the shop for the daily business as a well organised bakery attracts more customers, we also undertake any baking tasks such as making cookies, cupcakes etc.
Customer service is key so we spend time talking to people, getting to know them on a friendly basis and making sure we provide the highest level of service as we can. 
From working at the bakery I learnt how to manage a team, train new staff members and get a better understanding of stock take and ordering products from other companies. 
We have different tasks depending on whether you are doing the morning or the closing shift, but generally the tasks are the same each day.
