The job was located in a Western Power Depot at 22 Husband Road, Mandurah, Western Australia. 
I was employed by Transfield Services, who were contracted to Western Power, local supply authority, in Western Australia under a labour hire agreement where we carried out all Customer Funded Electrical work.
A typical Monday would start at 07.00am with a toolbox talk which all Transfield Services staff were obliged to attend. Matters discussed would be Safety, work to be carried out during the week along with relevant administration requirements, non-conformances, training, transport, tool requirements, slide shows  and general problems. This talk would last approximately one hour and on completion field staff would then leave the depot to go to their job sites for the day.

My work after the toolbox talk would be to communicate with the Project Managers and Supervisors to discuss any problems that were being encountered on projects in progress and planned projects.
Once this was completed I would return to my office to view reports, complaints, new requirements, spreadsheets etc and any other administrative duties I was responsible for.
I would carry out site inspections to ensure that staff were conforming to PPE requirements, to Western Power rules and regulations regarding the installation of equipment and were conducting themselves in a safe and appropriate manner. 
On completion of site inspections I would return to the depot and answer queries, check on reports and complete any admin duties that were required to be completed before completion of the working day.
I was required to attend management meetings anywhere in the Southern region of Western Australia where, on occasions, I have had to stay overnight.
I had a good working relationship with my fellow employees and appreciated their cooperation.
I found that the hardest part of the job was to complete the daily tasks within a reasonable time which often entailed working till 6.00pm and sometimes later.
The most enjoyable part was having the cooperation of all my staff which made it a happy environment to work in.

Current position is FIFO to Manus Island (PNG) working as HSE Advisor on the Off Shore Regional Processing Centre doing a 3/3 roster, and a 12 hour day. A normal day could include Workplace Inspections, Drug and Alcohol testing, attending Toolbox Talks, coaching and mentoring staff (at all levels) of on Island personnel, preparing monthly, weekly reports for senior management, reviewing or developing SWMS, Incident Investigations, RTW Plans, reviewing site hazards,coordinating Safety Representative and client HSE meetings, reviewing/developing plans, maintaining Haz Subs Register.
I have taken on board many learnings whilst on Manus. Because of the remote location having to think outside the square to complete High Risk activities by working closer with staff, and "making do" with what equipment was on island. Another learning I have taken from working in Manus was from the diversity of the workforce, age, gender, cultural diversity, the diversity of the workforce eg, Trades, Security, Service personnel.
I have enjoyed working with the various Service Line Managers, their enthusiasm, knowledge, and the team culture made my role as an HSE Advisor a lot easier.
The hardest part of the job was when I first started on Island where there was a no safety culture, especially with the local PNG Staff. Having to coach and mentor local staff about safety is an ongoing task.
The most enjoyable part of the role has been working with the different people on site, their enthusiasm, having to work in an isolated site and doing their best they can, and seeing a safety culture evolve.

the best thing i ever did was leave broad spectrum ..a typical day for me was try and do the job of 5 people by myself with little or no help from my peers and or espically mangement the work culture created at work was the lazy people got praised and the hard workers treated like garbage..and alot of the time the hard workers would leave and the job they did would be piled ontop of the rest of the workers ..so if you worked hard you had to carry the lazy ones and they just kept giving you work and more work and more work ..alot of the poeple worked sick,fatiged,injured...the pay you get was never enough for the amount of work you had to do ..constant bickering between staff also happened everyday ..my last few months i would lose my temper 3 -4 times a day tying to get help ..do my job on time ..get jobs done in one day so it wouldnt snowball to the next day ..put up with a micro mangaging boss who never NEVER listened to anything i tell him ..i would tell him something important that was going to happen later in the day he would give me the impression he understood fast forward 3 hours and he is going mental cause he hadnt listened to me..i could go on for pages..
my favorite time there was if i had to deilver things to our clients or pick things up from a factory off company grounds..
my last few months i would get chest pains and dizzy spells from the stres s..i want to go on about it broad spectrum but the place makes me angrywhen i have to think about it

I worked across four different contracts with Transfield. Three contracts were facilities management of there buildings and the fourth was new projects with telephone exchanges in preparation for the NBN network.
A typical day would involve working with contractors reviewing their SWMS, on site audits, working with state managers and advising them of OHS issues. I would also work with the Project Managers, and liaise with key personnel within our clients organisations, travel to various work sites/premises and audit contractors.
I was also responsible for collating data and preparing monthly OHS reports for  senior management 
I had an excellent working relationship with my co-workers, clients and contractors, which helped achieve many outcomes within budget and on time.
The hardest part of an OHS Advisor with Transfield were the "mum & dad" third party contractors. Many were non compliant with our safety standards which took a lot of my time advising what was required from them, and of the contractor that engaged this company.
Working with so many different people and able to influence them to achieve desirable outcomes (e.g. no injuries, safe work practices) made the job enjoyable.

Worked for Transfield Services (now Broadspecrum) for 7 years, experienced both good and bad periods across a number of roles, however the whole time I was there I felt undervalued and underpaid.

In the final year of me working for them, I worked 110+ hours a week, every week and was loaded with at least three times that of any of my colleagues in the same position. I was paid under $80k including super and tax.

The termination of my employment with the company was soul destroying, and handled horribly. 

The management promote work/life balance, career progression and good culture, yet knowingly act very differently... ensuring they have a good work/life balance, not their sub-ordinates, they create a horrible workplace by talking poorly about staff and management to others staff and management, and don’t promote from with in - making that decision well before interviews even begin.

The company once was an amazing place to work, at least I am told - It had great potential to be great, but there’s no way it can be with the people that are there now, the culture is now to inbred to be removed. It is incredibly sad.

* High morale amongst the mechanical crew despite the many design flaws and poor planning from management that had hindered the progress of the job

* Ive learned not to ever trust plant operators/taggers when a valve or spool is deemed to be fully isolated and drained. Always work defensively. ALWAYS

* Management were under extra pressure because of the non existent quality control on the project. Drawings were incorrect and spools were fabricated resulting in rework delaying the deadline

* Co-workers are highly qualified and competant in their fields. Great bunch of guys who were dissapointed by the incompentance of the leadership and design team

* Hardest part of the project is trying to work in conjunction with the plant operators and getting the neccessary permits and isolations on time and correct

* Most enjoyable part of my job is having some challenging spools to weld. Whether it be a difficult butt in a pipe rack out of an EWP or a tricky positioned weld near operating plant and equipment.

A typical day at work currently consists of progress reporting and adhoc management requests. 

While I haven't given Transfield Services a good review I have learnt a lot and it has been a valuable experience. I've improved my report writing skills, learnt how to use Auto CAD, developed my leadership skills, gained knowledge in planning, learnt how to use Primavera 6 (P6) and a host of other skills regarding how work places work since this is my first significant job.

There were too many levels of management and often the wrong people in them. This largely stemmed from the fact that the team was recruited from scratch after winning the tender for the project. Thus there was bound to be some poor hiring.

Co-workers suffer from the same hiring problem above but that being said I have been fortunate enough to work with some excellent people. 

The hardest part of the job is definitely the scale of the project. The actual work involved in installing fiber is very simple but the logistics involved in such a large roll-out are where the problems lie.

Most enjoyable part of the job has been my opportunities to learn new skills in a variety of different roles (either official or otherwise).

The work culture at Visionstream the parent company of Broadspectrum was really a reflection of the ethnic owners who regard people as a commodity not an asset. If you look at the reviews of Visionstream and i m sure Broadspectrum now they are under the Ventia umbrella you will find the word toxic is the most common of words.
As they are a giant Spanish company devouring local firms we will find this something that will infect the local market with their brutal HR department's wearing down and spitting out employees like vomit.
As part of management i had first hand experience how HR managed people out of positions by making their jobs untannable and it was this along with disgraceful management of contractors that made me resign.
This company that charges the Australian government billions to roll out NBN and then goes about withholding proper payments to increase overall profit by millions is really a blight on us as Australians. 

To get through as many claim rejections as accurately as possible. Always working toward deadlines, daily/weekly/monthly.
I learned a lot more about excel spreadsheets including V-lookup's to transfer data for particular aspects of reporting.
The managers were quite young, I found a few things went overlooked, for example document control. However the management overall was quite productive and my co-workers all pitched in to help where ever needed.
The hardest part of the job was the initial understanding of the process however once I was in the motion of doing this everyday I got more of an understanding of all the parties involved in the contract. This would also have to be the most enjoyable part of the job. Piecing the involvement of all departments together to better understand the workflow between client and subcontractor. I loved the challenge in meeting the deadlines and felt much satisfaction when management acknowledge the efforts of everyone.

Avoid these cowboys. The management is multi-faced who are more concerned with shareholders and their own bonus checks than they are about the welfare and fair treatment of employees or the care and custody of prisoners. It's a heavy depressing back stabbing environment with no coherence as no feedback is ever acted upon unless it comes through industrial/union action. The union is also a big con so don't be fooled into thinking they care either - both sides playing the same role. The morale of the employees is less than the prisoners in their care. There are some serious lunatics employed who should be on the other side of the fence and nowhere near inmates. Broadspectrum is a company who has their long fingers in many pies across the globe - THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT ANYONE"S WELFARE WITH EXCEPTION OF MAKING HUGE BONUS PAYOUTS FOR UPPER MANAGEMENT AND SHAREHOLDERS!!!!! They should be re-branded as Broad-SPECTRE
