Brighter Access

Management do not care about the clients or the staff! When staff or clients bring up unsafe/ neglected work practices they are attacked. Management  favour the lazy staff over the staff that reported back, go above and beyond and  really cared about the job! Constant roster changes and permanent staff hours cut and contracted hours cut due to management giving casuals their shifts! Very high staff turnover. Managers only ever in their role for a few months and then quitting on the day. A lot of higher up swapping and changing due to quitting. Support workers are treated like bottom of the barrel and in constant trouble and getting told off for all the things “we don’t do”. Never getting praised for how hard we work! Managers go against clients plans and fundings to suit themselves. Non stop under staffing leading to burnout. Managers favour some staff over others leading to those staff getting away with anything and getting all the shifts they desire! Very backstabbing and toxic work environment and terrible for your mental health.

Brighter Access was once a fantastic place to work, with strong leadership and a genuine focus on participants and staff wellbeing. Unfortunately, over the past couple of years there has been significant turnover in experienced managers, and the workplace culture has noticeably shifted.

Leadership and organisational culture start at the top. When strong, values-driven managers leave, it impacts team morale and ultimately the quality of support provided to participants. It’s disappointing to see a service that once prioritised both staff and participant outcomes move in a different direction.

I truly hope the organisation reflects and realigns with the core values that made it a great place to work in the past.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Helping clients meet there daily needs, maintaining a fun but professional interactions with clients

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management didn't put participants needs first, couldn't transport clients in wheelchairs as the bus never worked or was used in Newcastle.  Clients had to use there own taxi vouchers for outings promised by the company.
When the new management started we lost alot of staff due to shift cuts and not being flexible with working family's. Shift lines weren't flexible and if we didn't take it we didn't have shifts.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Staff in the homes and community were great and worked as a team. 
Management worked for themselves and higher up, not for participants or the staff. 
Profits and bonus's were more important.

Management at this company only care about giving themselves bonuses. To do this they deliberately leave their SIL homes understaffed and fail to purchase necessary PPE including basic essentials such as gloves and cleaning products, or printer ink for the mountain of unnecessary paper-based documentation they expect staff to complete. Staff are forced to print data collection forms themselves at home. House managers ignore all communication from staff and participants, and usually quit on the spot after a few months, leaving houses with no guidance and no management whatsoever. 

Lower level managers last a couple of months. Very few team meetings, terrible communication and organisation. Do not care about participants or staff. On call managers often rude. BA are just in it to collect the ndis money with no care for the welfare of people with disabilities or people who work for them. Overnight shifts - bed is in house media rooms, woken up constantly but not paid for disturbance, have to share toilet with (very unhygienic) participants. Worst company I’ve ever had the misfortune of being involved with 

Poor management, unpaid overtime, refusal to maintain dignity of risk for clients, and much more.
Bringing up any safety concerns with management will result in a scolding. Requesting further documentation on aggressive clients will result in a scolding. They frequently pressure clients into situations they are uncomfortable or unsafe in, and have no regard for personal privacy. Avoid this company at all costs.

Poor old Not so Brighter access could not Keep House mangers for more than 3 to 6 months .There was several reasons for not keeping manger’s. Let alone the support staff that give it there best with sometimes Difficult partispant s 
And mangers above the house mangers , there even on another level of rudeness. 

Brighter Access is a one of a kind when it comes to their empathetic and person-centred approach to their participants. Brighter Access management are professional and supportive from the top down. 
Would recommend to anyone interesting in building a career in support work and the NDIS world to work for Brighter Access. 

Brighter Access puts participants first by offering a person-centred approach to providing care. I like the fact that I feel supported in my role and can take any concerns anything to my manager. The work environment is friendly and encouraging. I would recommend Brighter Access as a workplace and to NDIS participants looking for support.

Horrid experience.  Toxic management who unless your in their little click are absolutely horrible to you. Zero help given in a complex situation. First team meeting I ever attended manager stated to direct care staff that they account for 1 % of profit and therefore if they don’t tow the line they know where the door is.
