I answered the telephone, ran to front counter when the bell rang to be receptionist, did invoicing to quoted prices, did filing, entered invoices into accounts payable Service at Work system and used Great Plains system to record collection phone calls and emails.
I gathered trial balance information from Great Plains and made reports in Excel for Debtors Meetings. I was totally responsible for collecting all outstanding monies for our Queensland branch.

I learned a lot about the crane industry.

I worked in a team environment and found the Financial Manager, State Manager and Project Supervisors great guys to work with.

Because Service at Work is a system linked to Head office and used through the internet is could close down a lot which could be frustrating especially at end of month when everyone was trying to get data into the system.

Overall I loved the job and was disappointed due to the restructure of the company that so many of us were being made redundant and most of the cranes were being relocated to Mackay, Moranbah and Blackwater.

Long hours with frequent periods in between of waiting for either 3rd parties, equipment or paperwork. So long as you pull your weight when required this is not a problem.
Management is terrific and understanding, pulling authority only when needed. Very courteous and team orientated. Will stand behind there workers. I know cause I failed a drug test(from Food) & they backed me.
Hardest part oh the job is deciding is the waiting around whilst the most enjoyable part is the above average wages compared to other employers.

I Enjoyed working at Boom Logistics meeting challenges, engaging in improvement projects and enjoying interacting with other staff. The workplace culture improved over time and integrated the latest software. I learned to sell successfully in a commercial environment.

I gained a vast amount of experience with different software programs. Every day brought a new challenge especially with the debt collection process. Management were always there for guidance if I found it was required. Co-workers made the job easy with assistance when asked.

When working for boom I had to be very flexible with what hours were worked as clients had very tight time schedules with road closures and time frames to complete work in whatever conditions the weather gave us rain hail or shine

Typical work day consisted of a minimum of twelve hours with the possibility of overtime on a as required basis. Operating time was monitored to reduce fatique. In most cases I was required to assist with the ongoing training of the riggers on site.

I learnt a lot at Boom, enjoyed working with the Major Telecommunications Companies, a main part of my role was to do inspections of mobile phone towers and decide what size truck we would need to assist the customer with the upgrade and maintenance of these towers.
