It was a great experience to work there, and begin finding out how to deal with all types of customers, how to become a fast learner and work in fast paced environments. I was very eager to learn and grow as a person in the 3 years that I was there. Management was great, very professional and gave great training. My co workers were all great and we worked as a team even though we would not all work together in the same shift, everyone knew how things worked and how we could make things a little simpler for the next person. It was very small group and we just knew what we had to do to maintain a great relationship. The hardest part of the job would be getting the hang of new things when you are alone or dealing with something that you are not allowed to or have no idea to deal with that situation. It is frustrating for the customer to get the situation fixed if the right person is not there to deal with the issue. The most enjoyable part of the job is building relationships with regulars and having the way you do things and your order of how you are going to be the most efficient in your work. Everything was enjoyable.

A typical day can get rather repetitive. I have learned how to handle situations with customers about money, and late movies. After working at Blockbuster for nearly 3 years it has become an easy job that fits in well with my life. My coworkers are fantastic and are always able to help out if I was ever needed a shift to be covered. We get along well in the shifts that I do see them, even the young juniors. 
The hardest part of the job would be dealing with angry customers who do not particularly want to listen to what I have to say about the said situation. However, over time I have become better at handling these situations.
The most enjoyable part is being able to give people free movies on their birthday, or telling kids that they can have their movie free for the school holidays, because their faces light up and they just seem really happy.

As the General Manager I had to get to the store an hour before we opened, count the registers and the safe, run point of sale checks, then we stocked the shelves of all returns and misplaced films, we ran 10,20, 30 list on returns and late fees, all I had to be done before noon so we could prep new items for the shelves, also making sure to treat every customer as family. I learned a lot about how to speak to people and run a business properly thru checks and balances also how to maintain inventory and be in charge of several employees. Reporting to management was a good experience specially with my staff and I doing so well. The culture was as it should be with staff loving their job and being passionate about what they sale. The really wasn't anything to hard like I said my staff was wonderful and the job was fun.

Working as a casual sales assistant at Blockbuster was a great place to get introduced into the work force. I was offered a certificate in Retail which I successfully completed in my time as a Blockbuster worker. I learnt a point of sales system in which is very easy to pick up on. Management handle everything very well and are understanding in times of need. Co-workers were brilliant and everyone helped everyone along in their shift which could be from 3 hours to 6. The hardest part of Blockbuster is problem solving on the spot with angry customers about over due late fees. In time everyone gets the hang of how to deal with these situations from practice and observation. The most enjoyable part of this job is being so casual with co-workers and the customers - not an up tight environment.

Working at blockbuster was like working with your family, the whole team were amazing friends and we would always look out for each other. We had our loyal customers who made each shift fun. but there was one slight problem.. the owner/boss, he was creepy to all the girls, rude to all the boys and he would always tell us to look professional when he showed up with cat hair on him and smelling like he hadn't showered in weeks. He once showed up to work with cat faeces on his pants. He would make working a shift 3 x harder than it needed to be buy just putting things in the wrong places or just standing there when someone was on the phone to a customer when a customer in store was waiting to be served. He ran that place into the ground and put lots of great loyal staff out of a job.

Basically this line of work was the same as mcdonalds. I had the same basic duties, served the same customers, and even had the opportunity to assist running the store.
The exception being I cleaned shelves primarily, and only working with 1 other person, 2 on busier nights.
I enjoyed my co workers here. Working in such a small team, initiave was key, which they all demonstrated perfectly.
Hardest part of the job would have to be trying to work as well as talking to a chatty customer, where i normally would have no problem with except on busy nights was a bit of a handful. 
But the most enjoyable part was having those nights where I had time to talk to every customer.

A typical day either involved opening the shop in the morning and working into the late afternoon, or starting in the late afternoon and closing the shop up at 9pm. Working here improved my customer service skills, cash handling skills and dealing with complaints. My co-workers where a great bunch of people and we all got along well. The hardest part of the job was working so often as there was minimal staff members. The most enjoyable part was chatting to all the customers about the latest release movies, and seeing them return happy after watching a movie I recommended.

A typical day at work consisted of standing for long hours. Communicating on a daily basis with customers to help them find what they want and be satisfied with their choices. Co-workers were very friendly and contributed to a friendly and growing work environment. Hardest part of the job was during sudden bursts of customers throughout the day, which caused some chaos and discomfort. In contrast the most enjoyable part was getting to converse with customers and really get to know them and their individual tastes.

Blockbuster most importantly gave me valuable customer service experience which taught the best way to deal with customers in different situations. I learned how to operate the till and deal with money. The hardest part of the job was learning how to interact with unhappy customers to work out a win/win for both the customer and the company. The most enjoyable part of the job was being involved in a friendly team environment.

The manager of the store was horrible. While the job wasn't to hard, you were in a constant up hill battle to try and keep your job. Threatening of future employment opportunities was also something that happened and after being confronted about it months later it was put down to "a joke". The salary and some of the employees who i worked with were my only motivators to keep working there until i was no longer receiving shifts.
